We went to look at paint samples this weekend. My husband picked out some very nice blue paint chips, but I really wanted anything but blue. I have our bedroom to paint also so maybe I'l settle for a pale blue in the babies room if I get my way in our room.
Basically, we still don't have a plan. My goal is paint the walls a color that allows the room to be used as something else later and doesn't scream "a baby lived here." We are visiting my parents this weekend so we will see how everything with the apartment construction is going and make final choices once we see the actual space...I hope.
Maybe a soft blue-gray that will easily transition into a more mature setting later on?
So I had originally planned to do a woodland/forest theme in the nursery but buying a set seems to be out of the question because anything along those lines is either super boyish or awful and tacky looking.
Since I want a very soft pallette for LO's room, I found this crib bedding (it's pale pink and gold polka dots):
This crib skirt (not sure I love the texture... I might opt for something more plain):
And this mobile:
I also will be ordering these 3 prints for her wall this Friday:
Target have some crib skirt options. there's a plain pink (or other color) one here and I really love this tiered white one here. I'm planning on making one like the tiered skirt in some fabrics I picked out this weekend (I hope).
Here are the fabrics I picked out (the large polka dot is the crib sheet):
@mullenem I think we (my mom and I) might end up making ours, too. I found a couple great DIY tutorials online and had no idea how simple it is to make them yourself!
@mullenem The crib skirt tutorials I found had tricks for making them adjustable if you didn't want to go to the trouble of making the tiers. If your crib has just the spring under the mattress (like mine does) the second link shows how to make ribbon ties and pin them onto the skirt and then just move them up a rung or two as you need to adjust the height. If your crib has a plywood bottom between the spring and mattress, you can just pin the skirt directly to that with thumbtacks! So simple!
@kristalyn85 my room also looked like that on Friday. I only have a couple more piles to sort through and then it will finally be empty and only have baby gear left in it. We are hoping to paint on Sunday so I gave myself a deadline to have it finished by Friday so Saturday I can wash the walls and tape the trim.
@babygabe614 I love the items and style you have chosen so far for your nursery! I totally agree on the bedding sets and trying to find something that won't break the bank but won't be themed to the max and scream tacky.
I received the chevron print chair I posted way back on I think the 1st page of this thread and it turned out to be more of a brown/grey then just a plain grey so I have had to do some rethinking of the direction I wanted to go. I just found this crib sheet which has a matching blanket that goes with it https://www.adenandanais.com/en-us/product/4633/nursery/crib-sheets/bamboo/9603/azure-bead-bamboo-crib-sheets.aspx. I'm hoping to make my own crib skirt as well but probably in just a plain aqua or maybe I will go crazy and find some aqua chevron print. I never knew planning a nursery would be so confusing lol.
After finally being able to find out we are having a girl last week, her nursery was our weekend project! Now we just need a mattress, bedding & zoo themed stuffed animals to complete the look
@Sarahsmile01 Your nursery looks awesome and is so unique - you are very creative! I love everything from the crib to the ceiling to the picture. Great job!

Got the crib put together :-) now... Just gotta wait for some gifts to come in so we an finish...(dresser and bedding have been claimed, I just need to wait to get them) come on April!
We are doing a grey, lavender and hits of yellow in our nursery. So far, we converted a chair from Ikea into a rocker and we have her bedding, the Genevieve collection, with a lace crib skirt, from pottery barn. We picked out a fabric (number 6) and are having a roman shade made for the window. Our crib is a light oak, it was my husband's crib and we have the matching dresser. Then we have a cream/oak vintage changing table. Now we just need wall decor and a little miss to put in the room We are currently in the process of selling and moving into a new house so the room is in a bit of a shamble with pieces here and there but maybe one day soon I can post the final product haha
I am not a pink fan. I wanted a soft, yet feminine nursery and I think we hit the nail on the head.
Alright, I need input! I am in between these three color schemes. Also, we won't be doing a specific theme, but there will be lots of different patterns and animal accents, and will likely do some sort of wall decal behind the crib.
Anyone got their baby furniture from Amazon? We saw a crib we want but I am so nervous about the condition once it arrives. We got a coffee table from Amazon before and it was chipped off and damaged during shipping. We were able to hide the flaws so we didn't end up returning it. Maybe it was just bad luck?
@irenewslee We bought our changing table and crib from Amazon. The crib was Graco brand and the changing table was South Shore, I think? Both were in great condition and look fantastic set up in the room. I think we paid less than $250 for both of them.
Still haven't painted or bought a crib... BUT I finally found a bedding set I LOVE!! As soon as hubby gets his bonus in March I will be buying the bedding and a crib. Yippee!!
We are painting the end of this month but wont be getting the furniture until probably April. This is the quilt set and rug we picked though. I am so excited to start painting! We will probably go with the bright pink for the walls, still debating if we do the pink on just one wall or all and use white accents around the room.
@fsumom I want to do a wooden cut out monogram. I've always heard that the vinyl is a giant PITA.
I have a vinyl decal that got delivered yesterday... Not a monogram, of a compass. I am really nervous about applying it to the wall nicely without making a mess of it.
@fsumom I plan on doing one. One website said if you plan on painting to do it 12 weeks before you apply the decal. This is the one I really like on etsy.
Is anyone doing a name vinyl decal instead of wooden letters?
@fsumom I'm going to be doing large birch tree decals on the wall and I'm a little nervous about it too but most of the time they come with good instructions on how to hang them without getting air bubbles (we did smaller decals in my stepson's room with no problems). The one I'm ordering also comes with a free scraper/application tool which is helpful. You'll be fine!
Yesterday I finished the baby blankets and receiving blankets I had planned to make. Still have a few more things too put together, but its coming along.
The blanket is made from Mr Fox & friends patchwork fabric and brown minky. Its super soft!
Finally figured out what I wanted to do for bedding. Solid navy crib sheets & a skirt from Target. Cheap and hopefully "boyish" enough for our little guy. We're gonna hang the banner above his crib at some point as well.
@lovetolive It was more annoying than difficult. The hardest part is attaching the embroidery hoops together with the fishing line and tying the beaded fishing lines to the embroidery hoops. But it's completely worth it!
