Trying to Get Pregnant

Lost my furbaby :-(

Yesterday morning I had to put down my best friend in the whole world, my beloved cat Stanley.  I was talking about it with the girls in chat last night and I was on the fence about making a post about it.  The thing is, so many of you love and care about your furbabies and understand what it is like to lost them.  Whenever I see your posts about it my heart truly breaks.  For us, we have no children and our cats are our little family.  There is a hole in the unit now.

I brought three cats to my marriage.  One of the things that made me fall in love with H was that he was a big cat person and immediately loved my cats.  They truly did become our cats.  These three cats saw me through my twenties and early 30's.  I moved countless times with them in four different states; they saw me through three live in relationships including my now H.  They got me through everything.  My Stanley was very special; as much as I love and adore my other cats he and I had a special connection.  He was twelve years old--old, but not that old.

He was completely fine one day and the next morning I was putting him to sleep.  You just never know what is going to happen in life.  Please give all your furbabies big hugs in honor of my sweet boy.

  • Sorry to hear this @catmagick Sounds like Stanley lived a great life and was loved a lot!

I have a cat that will be 15 this year. I got him in my early twenties. At some point he bonded with my H and now follows him around the house and always has to sit next to him on the couch. We'll both be devastated when the time comes.

I'm so sorry!  Big hugs to you! ((( )))

So you mind my asking what it was?  We had to put our last cat down due to renal failure :(
I'm so sorry to hear that @kap617 .  It was a complete and total shock.  In the middle of the night I was vaguely aware that he jumped up on the bed and sounded like he was breathing funny.  I thought if it was still happening in the morning I would take him to the vet and I fell back asleep.  It was still happening when I woke up.  He was laying between our heads (his favorite spot) but he as very listless.  When I brought him in they x-rayed him and told me he had advanced stage heart disease.  His heart was so big it was crushing his windpipe and his lungs were filled with fluid.  The vet told me that is frequently how it happens with cats and heart disease--they are fine until one day they aren't.  She told me I could go take him to the big fancy vet and get an echocardiogram but that the prognosis would not be good.  We might get a few months out of him or he might die from the stress on the way to the other vet.  She said at this heart disease is managed not very well with medication and that we would still run the risk of coming home and finding him dead and not knowing if he suffered or not.  He was really sick and we couldn't have even known.  We opted to put him down because he was suffering so much already; the stress of bringing him there had advanced his condition in such a short amoutn of time.  I went home to get H and was gone for maybe 20-30 minutes and even in that time I couldn't believe how much worse he was by the time we got there.  I know it was the right decision but I just can't right now.
