Oh, another bonus of citi's AA cards is any air travel you buy with the card, you get double miles for. And any mileage you redeem, you get 10% of the miles back. So for example, our Italy trip, we'll buy my $1700 ticket on the card, which gets us 3,400 miles (then work repays me for my ticket since its for a conference) and we'll buy DH's with points. We're getting screwed on points--it's costing 90,000 points for his ticket but since we have so many, I don't care. So we'll get 9,000 of those back. Plus the trip is about 7,500 miles RT, so I'll get those points.
At the end of the day, the flights cost us 90,000 points (but we get ~20,000 of them back) and about $250 for DH's taxes and LO's int'l lap baby fee for all 3 of us to spend 10 days in Milan.
I have no regrets churning credit cards, and I never have met anyone who does.
@huntjul when are you going to Italy? We are heading to Rome and then down the coast mid-April!
March Siggy Challenge: whatever you want! --> ORIGINAL CHALLENGE: GIF YOUR BABY!
I had no idea that it was called "Meatballs and gravy" in any country. I am now more educated.
I originally got my bump crush on @sleepy33 because I thought her av was some yummy dessert I wanted to eat. I am sad to say when I realized it was a quilt, some of the love was lost
Another confession... I have no idea what meatballs and gravy are.
well.....meatballs are balls of meat. and gravy i guess the rest of the world except myself and @jalee85 is pasta sauce (red sauce, marinara sauce whateva whateva) are you being serious? i'm gullable.
I know what meatballs are... but the only gravy we eat is with mashed potatoes, or turkey. It all makes sense now. We just call that spaghetti with meatballs... because we eat meatballs and sauce with pasta.
Yes I put crackers in the meatballs. That's how MIL said to do them. Is that not normal. Oh, what else would you call it besides Meatballs and gravy? I'm really intrigued.
Bread crumbs are traditional. Are we talking red gravy or brown gravy?
Brown gravy
Hang on, do you call spaghetti sauce gravy?
I only know this because of The Sopranos.
Yes I do! And I guess @jalee85 was not talking about my kinda gravy. Got me all excited for NOTHIN!

Awww no! Does it re-crushify you to know that I made the quilt?!? What if I made this my avatar (a cake I made)? #Ineedapprovalandcrushes #weirdoonlychild
I have been active since Dec 17, the day I got cleared to exercise and was also free of medicine finally. I can run 5k in 40 minutes; am eating healthy (low sugar, low chemical); cross-training; sleeping well; etc....and I lost a grand total of 8 pounds in that entire time.
Confession part:
Two days ago I INHALED a bunch of sugary crap - got a massive headache - and lost 2 pounds.
Pissed off part:
Um, what?!?!? Calories are totally in range for a nursing mommy, I should be losing weight. ARGH.
I am soooooooo with you here! I'm working out & eating clean as hell and the scale isn't budging.
My FFFC: I so desperately want to go on an insanely restrictive weightloss plan (like 800 cals @Amjoy25 style) just to see the damn scale move. The only thing stopping me is the fact that I'm BF and obvi need to do what's best for my child. Damn it.
Amjoy25 does not approve of very low calorie diets for BFing moms. #nopeoctopus.
I started the fat flush diet "with protein smoothies" on Mon and have lost 3 lbs so far and I am not following it to the "T" and I STILL have 1 cocktail or glass of wine if I want, also using my own lite dressing of my choice on my salads, I also have a 1 egg/2egg white veggie scramble (lots of veggies) topped with pineapple salsa in the afternoon rather then just 1 egg... I did this prior to my wedding and dropped 10 lbs. It takes dedication but I hit my "can't take it anymore" moment. And once I see weight loss it helps me stick to it. I also use my own whey protein, This is a site I found that explains….

'Twas not, because my gravy only takes a few hours. #BADABING
@jennlin thanks for bringing the shitty Seattle weather with you on your trip to San Diego!!! Jk I hope you are still having a good time even though it's pouring down rain. But seriously it hadn't rained like this in months!
I'm a bit frustrated bc today is zoo day!! We asked our hotel for garbage bags and we are wearing poor man ponchos. It's sunny and beautiful in Seattle today.
@jennlin I was wondering if today would be your zoo day? I feel so bad for you guys bc this rain and wind are awful. At least in Seattle it would be just drizzly rain and you'd prob be fine. It is usually the opposite weather here as there. Whenever we have crappy weather my parents are like oh it's actually sunny here. I just saw a speck of sun, so maybe it will clear up?
FFFC#2: I go crazy overboard with A1's parties as a coping mechanism - it always hits me the hardest that she was supposed to be a twin the month before her birthday (since that would have most likely been the month I would have given birth to twins) so I keep myself occupied with crafts and making chocolates and shit.
DH just thinks I like to spend #allthemoney and I don't feel like telling him the real reason.
I feel like our FFFC's is just a bunch of well, boring and nothing flame worthy. But today I HAVE ONE and am thrilled to say… we started sleep training and it has been AWESOME! We also got rid of swaddle and use of binky at the same time. DD falls asleep on her own (instead of rocking, bouncing, re bouncing, binky…over and over again) like a champ, naps, and I am up to do feedings, not pop binky back in 100 million times a night. BOOM!
You are a very brave soul to put that in writing. Last time I discussed my LOs excellent sleeping patterns was the last time I slept.
What kind of sleep training @chicsahm? No flaming from me. My baby is almost 6 months old.
ETA: too lazy to find the original comment so I quoted this one instead.

This made my heart so sad. I'm sorry. Whatever gets you through the day/month. Creepy hugs to you.

I agree with this, my heart aches for you @yesthisiskim0401. I can totally see how A's birthday would be bittersweet. (((Hugs)))
Aww, I didn't mean to give anyone else the feels. Thanks for the love, ladies. It always means so much
I use this method and my own common sense knowing DD. We used it with DS and was awesome! Our main issues were afternoon nap not being long enough and going to bed. I addressed the going to bed part and naps and night time fell into place because she learned how to put herself to sleep not relying on the binky, rocking, bouncing. I still rock a bit as a wind down cozy time, but that is before she gets over tired, so she isn't fussy…. it is SO nice now! Much happier baby and family! Today she napped for 45 min…woke (and she would just cry and not go back down unless I rocked her with a binky) she just "talked" to herself and chewed on her hands for 10 min and dozed back off for another hr and a half!
We got DD's ears pierced last night at the pediatrician's office and I think they look so cute.
I always thought if I had a girl one day I'd get her ears pierced, just cause it's all I've ever known. Then I joined tb and heard all the opinions on it and I thought about how nice it would be to have a special day with dd one day. Everyone has been nagging me about it and I've stood my ground about waiting (for now). THEN I saw a pic of @jalee85's daughter with her ears pierced and it was sooo cute it ALMOST convinced me to do it.
I understand both sides of the argument. Waiting just wasn't for me. I did it more for cleanliness reasons, and her not being able to pull on her earrings while they are healing.
I have all the feels for ytik today. Craft on mama.
Yeah I sat in the driveway last night just to finish "let it go".. fi actually walked outside to see if I needed help. Lol.
I got nothing. A had a taste of banana today and she didnt really care. I hate groupon. I filled out a survey for groupons customer service and they arnt going to like my answers. Idiots dicked me around for two months, didn't give me a full refund and expect a good rating? Hell no. I don't care if I made that purchase with credit, you have me that credit/voucher because you fucked up previously. Why the fuck wouldn't you reimburse it if you fucked up again? Nope. Not using groupon anymore.

@txswissmiss ooh sounds like a nice trip! We're going in late Aug-early Sept. We're going to hop over to Mont Blanc in France for the first part of the trip to see my brother run a 103-mile ultra marathon (yup you read that right) and then go to Milan for the rest of the trip and my conference.
Dh planned a long weekend getaway for us next week. I haven't worked up the courage to ask my boss for the time off yet. I'm running out of time. The trip is nonrefundable and my boss isn't going to be happy.

@huntjul Amex Starwood card does a special every year around September. 40k points for signing up you have to spend a certain amount in six months. I think it's $5500 but if you put your bills on it and charge gas & groceries it's not that hard. We've done it twice once for me and once for DH. Used the points to stay at the St. Regis on Kaui.
Wait, what was it supposed to be? B/c I just realized my brain autocorrected 'Germany' to 'Russia' and was chuckling at commie. #Communistsusecrackers
What's really funny is MILs family were Germans in Russia that were forcibly removed from Russia before WWII. There is actually a book written about DHs grandma.
It was suppose to be "communist" but my phone-spelling sucked. Whatever :P
Jalee85 What is the name of that book?!??! I'm researching on this time of German history right now for another project I'm on. Dying to read now.

@huntjul ohhhh we are familiar with the ultra marathon!! It's AMAZING! I'm impressed that he qualified, it's really competitive! Chamonix is about an hour from us by car and we frequently go there in the summer. It is absolutely GORGEOUS!!!!!! Let me know if you all want to swing through Geneva, it's a beautiful city Or perhaps we could all meet for a drink somewhere in France would be fun!
While in Chamonix, you can hike up/down for a great view or cheat (a little) and take the téléphérique(cable car) up Brévent then hike down. Or be lazy like me and go up and down the cable car. That one is nice though because you see Mont Blanc and l'Aiguille de Midi - if you go up those you don't have as great of a view and it costs ten million dollars... okay, like 100euro/pp.
Also really neat in Chamonix is la mer de glace - a massive glacier that they drill through so that you can walk inside. You do have to hike up/down even if you take the elevator there are about 600 steps. I did this 8mo pregnant so it's definitely doable.
Attaching pic of DH hiking down from Brévent (gorgeous views) in July last year. Also one of the station you can go to for the cable car.
It was a locally written book. It's an amazing story and you can read it all in one day. I either need to find the copy of my book or ask my MIL what the name of it is. I'll get back to you.
I'm officially a stay at home mom as of yesterday now that we've moved back to Texas. DH doesn't want me to work until dd can walk. We are staying with my uncle until we find a place. I did laundry, swept, rearranged and unpacked the kitchen, ran the dishwasher and played with his dogs and dd. I'm bored already and I feel like I need a job so we can save like we want to before having to pay all of our own bills.
So your DH doesn't want you to work but what do YOU want? And why thankful to DH? Thankful he makes all the decisions? Thankful he "let" you stay home?
Sorry something about this really rubbed me the wrong way.
Guess I should've clarified. DH moved back to Texas so I could be closer to my family. We were living 2 miles from his dad. DH is an only child. My grandmother is in the hospital on her death bed. DH has been extremely supportive with that. We make the decisions together. We've discussed me getting a job vs going to school. We both want me to go back to school to get a degree in nursing. I was working toward that prior to moving to be near his dad 4 years ago and stopped to help him run a business.
