  • @abastian00 - that's GREAT news, congrats!

We are staying in soho... think there's any chance we'll get in to momofuku for dinner? They don't take reservations! Any other recs are appreciated!

lest12 - the earlier you go the better your chance. Most people will be vying for 8:00pm+ tables, so go work up an appetite and have an earlyish dinner!

Edit - you just inspired me to go to local Milk Bar this afternoon and get myself a compost cookie. Yummm....

lyracelesti - thats a tough one. I 100% don't trust my father to take care of the baby by himself (even though he's offered a million times), but at least he lives across the country so it's not something I have to worry about too much. I would be equally tentative were I in your position; it's hard to have a reasonable conversation when someone is in the middle of a manic state.

  • I'm annoyed at DH and I'm getting really worked up about it.  I scheduled a day care tour at 12 today and kept telling him that I wanted him to come.  He seemed totally annoyed and I was getting the vibe that he didn't think he needed to be there.  But he said he would come.  Then at the last minute he told me he couldn't come because he had a conference call.  This is the second day care tour that he hasn't come to.

Sometimes I feel like I'm doing everything, both physically and otherwise, for this baby and he does nothing.  We're going to be entrusting our baby to people for 9 hours a day - don't you care about being involved in choosing these people?  Sorry, just had to rant.

  • My AW SS moment is a question. DH is on my nerves 24/7 hardcore. His breathing even annoys me. But I've never loved him more. Seriously. If I could attach myself to his hip, I would. What the hell? Anyone else going through this?
@Rachel5130 - I yell at my husband that I want him to get shit done around the house, but when we have a free moment, I make him lay down with me and cuddle. But then I get mad because things aren't done around the house. LOL!!! I don't know how he puts up with me or still loves me. But I totally hear you on never loving them more - like your heart just aches thinking about them! It's so weird!

Here's more on the story about my dad and his crazy B wife.
It had been awhile since we'd heard any negative news about them so I'd kinda been lulled into thinking maybe they'd gotten their act together, and apparently they had (sorta).  B had been going to AA every now and then and been acting like a responsible adult.  My dad gave her access to all his accounts/money (she has her own income so it wasn't that he'd left her out in the cold) and that's when the fun began.  B went and 'messed with' a bunch of his financial stuff and cancelled my moms alimony payments.  My dad found out and flipped a lid and locked himself in the office to try and fix what all she had messed up.  B goes crazy and starts yelling, throwing stuff and pounding on the door.  My dad called the cops and they came and along with other stuff told him that the situation was just gonna escalate so he should just leave, so he did and went and stayed at a friends house.
That was the night that B called my mom at 1 am.
Dad hadn't gotten any of his stuff for work the next day and had to go to the house to get his stuff (I dunno if just clothes or what).  B grabbed his stuff, locked herself in the office and started claiming that he was gonna hit her and who knows what else.  Dad then calls the cops again and I'm not sure what they were supposed to do but that lunch hour dad called me and wanted the note stating what B had left on moms voice mail (mom won't pick up the phone if she sees it's B).  I'm not really sure I trusted to give him the only copy so I wrote it out and gave him one and he said he was taking that and other documents up to the court house to file a legal complaint against B (mom had erased the voice message almost right away I guess because it was gone before I got to her house that morning, but she had written out what B had said).  He also said it was evident he needed to file for divorce and he was going to do that yesterday too.
This isn't the first time he said he was gonna file for divorce let alone annulled their marriage the first go around, so I'm skeptical whether he'll go through with it or not. Although this is the first time he's filed criminal charges against her so we'll see.
I could write pages about all the crap she's pulled and even more on what all my dad has done, so it's kinda hard to know how I feel by now.  On one hand I feel sorry that a living person would go through all of that, and on the other hand they've just continually made their situation worse and worse and don't get help or at least just stop making it worse.  They both have burned a ton of bridges and B seems to be trying to make my dad isolated by ticking off the whole community.
Anyways, none of this was for sympathy or anything of that nature, but thought I'd share in case anyone was curious or needed some entertainment.  I find it kinda entertaining in a train wreck kind of a way, at least when they aren't messing with my mom :)

Rachel5130- exactly the same with my husband.  I'm all "get away from me!" "no, get over here"  "stop talking" "please cuddle me" "why are you breathing so loud!?" "want to hold me again?" "you're typing too loud" "please hold my hand".  It's super hilarious.  Not.

Also- I HATED snuggling pre-pregnancy and he loves it- so I guess there's at least that for him?

@mrsdbc- when we did our hospital tour there were kids in the tour group.  Hopefully it works out for you!  I don't wear my rings because they itch and while I haven't noticed anyone getting judgy-pants about it I would certainly pop 'em in the kisser if I thought they were.  :)

  • @ugabamafans I think Annabelle is cute, but I can't picture it on a power suit wearing women. But she could always go by Anna later if she wants.

On the same note. What do you guys think of Cameron? To H it's the baby's name. I really like it and can see myself having a son named Cameron but I have commitment issues.

Also, the flu has been going around the office and I woke up feeling like I'm getting it. I just want to go home but we are so incredibly short staffed I would feel so guilty leaving.

  • What do you guys think of the name Annabelle?

DH is head over heals in love with it, and I don't hate it.  It's weird, but I kinda feel like it is her name. At the same time, I kinda feel like it is too frilly/girly girl and don't want to commit to it.  Can you see a successful, powerful woman named Annabelle?

Also, I need suggestions for a MN.  Our last name sounds similar to Bowen.
@ugabamafans - this is so weird, but when I read Annabelle I automatically said Patrice as a middle name. No clue why. I think it's cute and she could go by Anna, Ann or Belle if she wanted to at some point. I know what you mean about not wanting to commit though, we're down to 2 names and even though we like one more than the other, I don't want to commit to it for some reason.

The peeing thing might be helped if when guests or anyone comes over make sure they ignore him until he calms down, over excitement can cause the peeing so if people are greeting him as soon as they walk in the door he might just be over stimulated and then he can't control his bladder. Also for the jumping how I trained my dogs out of it was I would put my knee up and turn away from them as they tried to jump on me, it throws them off balance, and I also refused to greet them until they sat still.

If he is going outside that often he shouldn't be having accidents in the house unless he is spending more time playing and exploring than going potty outside. When you take him out make sure he goes to the bathroom or at least makes an attempt to before he is allowed back inside. This might involve a lot more waiting on your part at first but it should help him realize he has a purpose when he goes out.

    @babybean82

Thanks for the response! Our main entrance is our back door into the kitchen which is gated off. So he doesn't really get any attention right away. We do try to let everyone know that he needs to be ignored, but usually they dont follow through. I'm thinking he might just need to stay leashed.

As for outside time, its still frigid here so he hates being outside right now. I usually just open the door and let him out and let him back in when he comes back. Both times did happen when my brother was over babysitting the LOs while I was at school though. It might just be he wasn't let out soon enough after eating.

  • My MIL sent out the invites to the baby shower today (yeah!!) and while we were talking she informed me that she and her best friend have taken to calling my LO "Char" while talking. It caught me off guard and I don't know how I feel about it. Her name will be Charlotte but we will be calling her Charlie. I don't know why it bothers me, but I wanted to say "her name is Charlie." Weird much?

  • My SS moment of the day is that I ordered 8 dresses from Target online and not one of them looks good. I really just need one dress for maternity pics at the end of the month and then I can wear it to my brother's wedding two weeks later as well. This shouldn't be so hard! I don't know if maybe my gut is just humongous or what but if it fits in the stomach and butt then it's way too big in the boobs. I take it back, one of the dresses looks great now but is verging on tight so there's no way in hell I can cram into it six weeks from now.

Nope.  We'd have been going with Charlotte if Charlie had been a girl.  An ob heard me calling him that before we knew it was a boy and said "Oh, Charlene, that's cute."  I corrected him.  If you want your baby girl called a certain name, start correcting now.  Catherine has been called Cathy or CC once or twice, and I always correct, because she's Catherine. Nothing wrong with that :)

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that's your MIL's passive aggressive way of "protesting" the "boy" nickname... Passive aggressiveness from my MIL would bother me, too :)

Just because I'm curious, would it bother you if she called her Charlotte?
The funny thing is, it's not her being passive aggressive. It's her airhead friend keeps calling her "Char" so she started too. I don't hate Char, I think it's cute, but I guess I keep thinking she already has a nickname lol!!! We really want her to be Charlie, we just named her Charlotte so shed have a grown up female name in case she wants to be a Supreme Court justice one day or something. So for me, her name is Charlie. I dunno, I think I'm the one being weird about it but it just kinda bothers me.

  • I just signed up for classes and a tour of the hospital in April and I am so excited for them!

I also signed my DH up for a Daddy's class where other dads come and bring their new babies and teach newbies about how to be a dad. I'm so excited for him to experience it! I wish I could be a fly on the wall for that class :)
  • My best friends husband came over tonight to help me build a containment fence for my dogs so they stop running away on me. It's just a bamboo garden fence, but at least he won't be able to run around my house to get away from me now! This has happened like 3 times since we moved. Thankfully my husband was here two of the three times and the last time he stopped to poop in my front yard so I was able to grab him. Anyway, no more worrying about the dogs running off when the baby gets here, yeah!!!!!!!!

Omg this happened to me two days ago. This lady talked to me all the way into the bathroom, through her own pee/hand washing, and then stood outside my stall door STILL TALKING. I almost dropped a deuce in the middle of her sentence so she's get uncomfortable enough to go the hell away.

  • @narwhalicorns We just had a dog trainer come to our house. We got three private lessons for $225. By following his methods, our dog went from jumping on people and licking their faces to sitting respectfully and waiting to be pet. I totally recommend a private lesson. Learning in our home really helped. The first week, I had to have the dog leashed to me which was a pain, but paid off in the end.

Thanks! I've tried googling trainers but have not had much luck. I've only found basic training. Sit, stay, etc. We don't know anyone who has used any outside training for their dogs either. Definitely a pain!
