SS moment - just got back from the hospital because I had a small blood clot pass as well as some light period bleeding. Said that it was a yeast infection causing this and not to worry unless it doesn't go away. Everything else looks good but I shouldn't work tonight. Did you guys know that a yeast infection could cause bleeding???
@hampire I'm the MOH in my friends wedding where I'll be almost 30 weeks. Are you able to pick the style dress? She let me pick any style dress in her color so that was a huge help. I ended up getting a long flowy strapless empire waist dress a few sizes up. That way I can hem the bottom to be even and take it in in the bust if I need to.
As far as registering at that hospital, I wouldn't worry about that right now, especially since it's only two hrs away. (Granted thats almost how far I have to drive to my ob and the hospital anyways, so my opinion may not count) If you feel the need to as the date gets closer I'd go from there.
So my mom talked to my brother again and it turns out they are due Oct. 25th. Better than Nov. because it's at least possible, but still freakishly early to tell everyone! But I guess I'm saying that cuz its just me to wait to announce... Do most people tell they're PG at 4weeks??
I was the one from the previous thread who was asking about if it was even possible to know you're PG if they said the due date was Nov.
I would say most people don't announce that early but I did tell my parents and brother a few days after I found out. I knew if something went wrong I would tell them so why wait? In terms of official announcement, I didn't say anything until I was 16 weeks.

I told my family early but that was it. I've known girls (my friend included) who tell people after the pee on the stick has dried lol.

I didn't know that! T&Ps to you sweets, it's always scary to see blood!
@lizm05 I told everyone in the world the day I found out. Seriously. 1, I'm not good at secrets or surprises. 2, it was a total crazy shock. I immediately regretted not waiting a little while after I did it because I was afraid that if something bad happened I'd have to tell everyone and hear the condolences (which I'm terrible with). Anyway, I think I was 6 weeks.

@ohyealovely - I totally agree with @ugabamafans. My friend's daughter has the middle name Harper and I think it's totally cute. But really, who cares what anyone else thinks? If you like it (and H likes it) - then I would go with it!
@ugabamafans@shakeweights- I'm definitely using it, H and I officially decided. I think I was just surprised at the reaction the name gets! I know the ladies on the name board all are very particular and it seems like they always just offer up the same names over and over when asked for ideas (most of which I don't like). Some woman even said any name ending in "son" is a male name!
My youngest has high school registration tonight :-S I'm so not ready for her to be that old. I already have to shoo the boys away, now there will be a whole new pool of boys and drama to deal with. Ugh

So you decided on Wren Harper? Because I absolutely adore it!
Yep! Wren Harper it is
ETA: and I'm glad people are liking it! I know it only matters if H and I like it, but it sucks to love a name and then get a bad reaction from people!

@ohyealovely I love Wren Harper! I love love love the name Harper, but couldn't get hubs on board. Glad someone is using it and it's so pretty!
My SS/AW, just got confirmation our crib is in!!!! Yeah yeah yeah! One step closer and I can move further with the nursery! I'm so excited that I'm going to pick it up now and make the store load it. I might be hard pressed to wait until hubs gets home to have him help me put it together CAN ANYONE TELL I'M EXCITED?????

My BFF gave me a little "YAY YOUR PREGNANT" gift the other day, and in it was the movie "What to Expect When You're Expecting." She had been telling me I needed to see it, and that Elizabeth Bank's character reminds her of me. I have to admit, it was a pretty good movie!!! I laughed, I cried, and did the whole OMG THAT'S ME thing. To be clear if anyone has already seen it, she meant after Elizabeth has her meltdown, not her parts of being uptight. I highly recommend it!
*TRIGGER/SPOILER- If anyone decides to watch it, there is a plot line featuring a loss, just FYI*
Lol @yellowbird219, I love this movie regardless of how corney it is. I'm totally Elizabeth Bank's pregnancy too-- total mess (no hot about it). I was laughing thinking about this when I read a "humble brag" post earlier and totally thought of Brooklyn Decker. Okay lady, I get you're perfect and so is your pregnancy but I can't wait to see how crazy life is when there's a kid afterwards lol! It all has to balance at the end right?

@chickpea912 can I pick your brain on CDs? I'm trying to decide if it's worth doing disposable NB diapers and then CD when their weight increases, or just do NB CD and then one size CD after that. Do you know about how many NB CDs your LO went through, and how long they lasted before you had to size up? If it makes a difference, we're hoping the twins are about five to six lbs at birth. Any other CDers please feel free to chime in!
I'd probably tell my mom and sister sooner too but still wait till like 8 weeks. I did find it kinda surprising because we don't know her very well but, hey, I guess whatever floats her boat!
We got tons of snow yesterday and so I'm on a snow day! We haven't had much snow in western WA this winter so it's exciting. I'm enjoying hanging out in bed and watching morning talk shows I never get to watch.
AHHH! My mom just called me and told me that my sister just gave her like 5 boxes of clothing for us! All girls stuff! And even though we were planning on my mom and dad to come visit us towards the end of next month, she wants to come down this weekend instead because she's too excited I'm pretty sure we aren't going to need any clothing for the first 2 years - amazing!!

The thing is, I've never understood the point of asking a public group for name opinions. To find a name that will have mass popularity? Guys, the general public doesn't have good taste. At all. If you depend on their feedback, you're going to wind up with a name that is the equivalent of McDonald's, the flip flops Old Navy puts on sale each year, and Saran wrap. It's fine to enjoy buying cheap, synthetic footwear in four colors each year only to discard them by September when they get imprinted with the shape of your foot dirt, but don't go to that well for your kid's lifelong moniker.

AWESOME! We also got tons of hand me downs and don't have to buy much/any clothes for a long time. Pro to having kids after others!

I've definitely posted a few ideas on the baby name board.... but to your point, the minute I started asking anyone what I thought of a name was the minute I knew I didn't love it. If I had to ask my mother/sister/coworker/internet friends, than I wasn't sold.
I guess that's annoying to the people I asked, I'm clearly wasting their time.
But that's just me. Other people might like some feedback or want reassurance, nbd.

I really only asked because I was genuinely surprised by the dislike of the name. I love it and an Internet group of strangers wouldn't stop me from naming my child what I want.

@katekat8721 I didn't look to see if anyone else responded, so if they did, forgive the redundancy.
It all depends. We used the few diapers we took home from the hospital, and then switched, so we never bought nb paper diapers. I actually sold all of my nb cloth diapers at a profit, so I made money using cloth. Part of that was just the deals I got and how much I was able to resale them for, but that's definitely a big part of it.
I am planning on using primarily prefolds and fitteds (Kissaluv size 0) with covers for the nb period, with a handful of all-in-one diapers (BUmgenius and Blueberry) thrown in for good measure. I'm aiming for 24-30 nb diapers for LO.
Prefolds are by far the most cost effective, although they can be hard to resale and would be better used as rags or spit-up cloths afterwards. Or you can actually use them to stuff other one-size diapers later on.
@kaceymarie, my office said to eat something small with protein. So add some chicken. Protein is what naturally balances the effects of sugar. They want to see your body handling it normally, not set up for a crazy response.
No dice. They would not adjust their valuation (the basis of the total) but they did adjust the amount that they would pay out by $1000. So at least there's that. Picking up the check and going car shopping later this afternoon.
Sorry they didn't increase the valuation. Good luck shopping though.
@chickpea912 & @wareagle1220 thank you ladies!! I'm going to check out the cost of prefolds/covers vs sposies. I'm guessing with twins we may get a bit more life out of them maybe... and then I am registering for pockets so hopefully I can use some prefolds there for stuffing!
@katekat8721, we're doing disposables for the newborn stage and OS as soon as baby can fit in them.
From what I've read, newborns go through 8-12 diapers in a 24 day period so depending on when you want to wash, assuming every other day, you'd need 24 per baby, so 48 total to get every other day washing. Like chickpea said, you could do prefolds or flats and covers and you'd just need to have a lot of the prefolds and not so many covers.
We've just opted to do disposable at the beginning for ease honestly. I'm afraid I'd be overwhelmed being a FTM with cloth diapers on a newborn. Maybe for our next kid though! Also, I have a friend who many be giving us some nb bummis to borrow. If that happens, I'll likely try them. But from a financial standpoint, I don't know if I want to invest in newborn diapers knowing that they only last a few months. Of course, I guess I should compare the cost of cloth vs disposable for those first couple of months and see how it pans out.
Don't forget resale value - even if you don't have another child, it is almost definitely going to be way cheaper to use cloth in the beginning. Like I said, I got a great deal on my cloth nb diapers and ended up making money when I sold them. Of course I'm kicking myself for having sold them, but whatever - I'm going to buy more now, knowing that if I spend $150 (probably won't spend this much, but just throwing out a random number), I'll likely get at least $100 back. Or whatever the math ends up being - I know my outlay will only be temporary.
I know so, so little about babies. Tonight I looked in the mirror and saw my huge bump and realized, there an actual baby in there. I do not know what to do with an actual baby. I'm a little scared.

Read!! I've read several books and it really helps me feel more prepared.
SS: Some of you may remember a month ago when we thought that my husband's grandmother in Honduras wouldn't live much longer. She has stabilized and we got this photo today. Her husband pictured here is 90. I can't even describe how much it means to me that they might meet this baby some day. It was in the middle of my anatomy scan 5 weeks ago that we got a phone call that she might be fading. And now, not so much.

Does anyone know how I can stop getting notifications for my own thread? Since I do this thread I have like 200+ notifications that just build up like crazy.

I know what you mean. No one in my life has babies so I have very little experience. I never get to spend any time with them. I did have to take care of one at an old job and it seemed to come fairly natural to me, but I was still quite awkward due to lack of practice. I am hoping it'll all come naturally.
Right? My friend (who lives to far away for me to practice anything with her 6mo) told me it will all just come to me... I hope she's right!
Thanks @joules235 I will check it out!
