HAIR- I have always had long hair and do not plan to cut it and get a "mid life" hair cut once I reach my 30's. I enjoy having long hair and don't feel right having short hair.
OFFICE CLOTHES: I hate panty hose. I will wear a skirt or a dress with no panty hose. I am tan all year round so I don't care about the color of my legs showing. Also I do wear dresses and some skirts above my knee. I work at a HS so obviously they are not too short but not all my dresses or skirt go below my knee and I am okay with that.
KIDS BDAY PARTIES: Bring on the beer/margarita/wine. If I have to hear 20 screaming kids a nice ice cold beergarita would be perfect.
I've got no love for Mother's Day/Father's Day. I think it's totally fine that people celebrate but we just don't care. But even more UO I think is that if ANYONE should get treated special on those days, it's the parents of young children. Yes, our mothers are still our mothers now that we're grown but let's give a break to the ones currently in the trenches. Mothers day for "young mothers" shouldn't involve busting your ass HARDER because you've got to run to your mother's house and your MIL's house and buy gifts and make food and dress your kid nicely and drag them all over town and all that.
I have 3 tattoos and plan on getting more. DH has a full sleeve, a chest plate and some on his other arm. He's actually getting our kids' names tattooed on him tomorrow.
adult birthday debate: I celebrate my birthday ALL MONTH LONG. But I don't involve anyone else. I just justify everything I buy for myself during the month as a birthday gift to me.
My mom's birthday aligns with Mother's Day- they are the same weekend. She expects us with her for them both EVERY YEAR. Which means my MIL gets shafted, and being her birthday is the week or so after Thanksgiving, we don't see her for her birthday because it's too much traveling. Mother's Day is FRUSTRATING for me.
Oh and my mom expects two "big" gifts. One for each day. Some years we do... some years it's much better if my sister and I pool our money and go all out instead. Grr.
Our lil' diva: late like her Momma: 40 weeks 5 days!

Oh see, assuming you like your MIL, I tell your mother to GTFO. That's so selfish and narrow minded of her. Have you asked her to put the shoe on the other foot and how she'd feel if she got NONE of the days, as your MIL does?

I need to get another. I want to get a water lily to represent Lily on the left side of my back. I don't want to put names on me, but I believe that everybody has some sort of symbol that represents them perfectly. I already have 2. I have a daisy and vine that wraps around my ankle and goes to my foot (that's my great grandma Daisy, we were close) and I have a celtic eternity knot on my hip. H has a knot to match and 4 other tats. We both want more.
I dislike how the FB group is SOOO overly Rainbows & Butterflies. Maybe b/c we are interacting on a different level where we can see one anothers personal information (for those that don't have a ton of privacy restrictions) but some people have posted really stupid crap and either no one notices or no one cares enough to call them out.
Just a little odd considering we tend to flame a lot on TB.

Radley Quinn was fashionably late via induction on 6/17/13
And piggybacking on the Mother's Day post - I know I am not my husband's mother, but I am really hoping that we don't have to see either of our moms that day and it can just be the three of us celebrating my first MD. I'm terrible.

I'm 5'10" with a 36" pant inseam. In don't think I've ever owned a skirt that reached my knees and I've never been accused of being inappropriate in a corporate work setting during my professional career.
...said the lady who took a walk in capri yoga pants and winter boots.
also, I am 5'4" and if I wear a skirt that goes below my knees, I look like I am about 4' tall and 4' wide. I would look unprofessional if I wore a skirt that cuts below my knees.

It's your first MD with your LO here. It's more your day than anything and it doesn't make you terrible. It would be nice for it to be just the 3 of us, but that probably won't happen here.
My UO also has to do with dressing appropriately..
If you are working in a professional office setting, your skirts should not be above your knees and your legs should not be bare. Panty hose/thigh highs are made for a reason.
Unpopular. It's hot in Florida yo
Unpopular in Michigan too. When it's all hot and humid and I have a nice tan going anyway.. not like you can tell. Panty hose are the debil.
I can understand bare legs more in the summer but come on. It's February. At least have an appropriately length skirt on.
Edit: our intern is wearing a pencil skirt today. It is wayyy too short. It's very close to being a mini. I personally think that if you have a skirt more than 2-3 in above the knee, you should wear panty hose.

+1 here. My mil lives 3 houses from us, but all I want to do that day is just spend it with DH and J. It's my first md, let's celebrate me
I have 9 tattoos. I love them. My fave will always be my newest one for J
I have fun hair and it's been lots of different bright colors. I've never been to a rave, nor plan to. Also if other moms don't want to associate with my son and I because of my hair, then it saves me the trouble of accidentally befriending an ignorant bitch.
I'm sure we'll have beer at W's birthday, but we certainly won't be getting shitty.
I feel like march 1st is acceptable to wear spring fashion if the weather is warm enough. I know it's technically still winter, but most people still think of march as a spring month.
DH and I have tattoos and I'm sure will continue to collect more.

Stuck in the box- I'm not big on dying my hair beyond the born with colors (black, blonde, brown, red) because I can't rock it. However one of my geekiest besties that I'm still buddies with from elem. school married a girl who rocks wacky dyed hair, tattoos, piercings and they have two kidos. She is one of the most awesome, down to earth, best moms I know in my "generation". We may look completely different (I'm office/designer, she's artsy and a CLOWN!) but our parenting ideas and goals align, and we've been friends for too long to make me want to keep her from my girl. Our girls are arranged BFFs and I would be over the moon if their son fell for A (well, if she wasn't already promised to Z right @GingerbabyTX). I'm actually more nervous about leaving A with some family members than with her.

Inspired from the vacation thread.
I am not a fan of lying on the beach. I can seriously handle about a day on a vacation, and then I'm freaking bored.
Me too. I get bored easily at the beach. I want a vacation where I am doing something, which is kind of funny since I am a little lazy in real life!

Stupid Quote Box! Yeah I've tried, and actually this past year I refused to go anywhere (pregnancy FTW). Everytime she complains about how they miss this and that because we're with my dad or his parents, I remind her we have to balance our time, and we make sure she gets time, so we have to do the same for them.
Oddly- she's leaving from May-August for some lifelong dream trip to Alaska. AKA missing her first blood granddaughter's first birthday. Nice.
ETA: @elmoali yeah, I love my MIL, she is quirky but I really hit the jackpot with her- she's realistic and not usually super pushy about her ideas. When we first met, she actually told me that if she ever did get crazy, to take her out into a field and shoot her.
ETA to correct @ referenced bumpy

What time is it? It's fuck that shit o'clock. You don't get to demand that everyone make you their #1 priority and then peace out on your grandchild's birthday. I'm not saying everyone has to attend a kid's party but if you don't care about THAT, why should anyone care about YOURS?

This. I was going to write a response but this says all that needs to be said.
Am I the only one who doesn't have a tattoo, or plan on having one??
I'm right there with you. Personally, I'm just not cool enough for a tattoo. DH has two, and I find them very sexy.
I don't have one either. I wanted one badly in my twenties and tried so hard to come up with something but then couldn't come up with anything to get. That's when I realized that I just don't care about anything strongly enough to get it permanently inked on my body. So I decided it wasn't for me.

Because I know everyone cares: Yes to alkie at kids birthdays IF they are at my house and IF it is late afternoon or evening. 1 and 2 for G were post nap pizza parties at home and were mostly our friends anyway so no biggie. And this one being born on July 5th into a house with a pool you best believe there will be a cooler for adults. However G's 3rd bday was at the Y at lunch time so no to it then obviously. It doesn't start becoming a real kids party until at least 3 anyways.
Tattoos: have two, will eventually get one more. I think if they are in semi visible areas it limits your career choices so I am glad I chose wisely at 16 and 18! I think they look great on some, but I think paw prints on 80 year old saggy boobs will look pretty sad.
Adult bdays- get over it. I am married to an only child and he makes such a big deal it drives me nuts. Meanwhile in a middle kid, born on my dad's birthday (July 8th) and now have a kid born the same week. So I have never really expected bells and whistles and I certainly don't now.
Mother's Day is the bomb though. Both my mom and mil believe it's about giving young mins a break and totally spoil me with babysitting, food and salon GCs. I'll take that!

I know this week looked great! C'est la vie!

I don't want to start anymore drama, but my UO is that I don't like how people are now hesitant to share things and ask for advice, thoughts etc. Clearly I am the only opinion that really matters, so share away. Studies have actually shown that people need like a minimum of 10 hugs a day and I am willing and able to give at least that many, EACH DAY people! Maybe it is the Social Worker in me, but my job is literally to hand out puppies and rainbows and being on Mat leave my skills are getting rusty. Do you people want me to loose my job because I have forgotten how to do those things? Rant over.
