Any of the deviation from doctors suggestions...mine sleeps on her tummy, I was told not to xyz yet but I am, what can I give an infant for a cold....
If you think of all the posts already that should probably have been directed to the poster's OB, I guess it follows that pediatricians might get similar treatment.
I do however *love* the, "I just had a baby yesterday, he's such an amazing sleeper and is nursing like a champ" posts... followed by the, "reality is setting in what do I do with this baby" posts.
Or better, the ones that get preachy too soon and are all "my baby already sleeps thru the night and it's because I'm a great parent". Loooove those.
I put cereal in my 6 week old's bottle so he'll sleep through the night, that's ok, right?
A coworker (work study student) of my mom's actually does this. WTF.
There was a woman on my last BMB who not only did cereal in a bottle, but fed just cereal, full thickness, to her 2 month old. Not only did he sleep through the night, but he was overweight and would choke all the time. It was sad. I used to watch babies at C's daycare who got cereal in their bottle choke/spit up...I don't like cereal in bottles.

I put Lucky Charms in Josh's bottles and sometimes a little Diet Coke. NBD.
@lilnunz1 thank you for understanding; everyone else is all "that much sugar is bad for him" and "he is a little young for soda" and "shouldn't he be wearing at least a diaper in the snow?" and I get so frustrated because no one understands preemies.
I'm an L&D nurse and have on more than one occasion had a patient bring in her mucous plug to "show me". I always say (in my sweet nurse voice of course), "You did NOT fish that out of the toilet and expect me to look at it." One brought it in in a hot and sour soup container from a Chinese food delivery. Gag me.
@MrsBHM the sweet and sour soup container makes it so much worse!
@kibean really? I thought ultrasound pics on FB were weird enough, but milk supply? Um, no.
Can someone answer these questions for me?? Not the plug, though...
My question: When I shit on the table, will it be diarrhea or a hard turd?
Wait, were you kidding @nutmegs8? Because now that you mention it, I realize I never thought to ask this. I'm all, "Why has no one answered her?!"
I'm not kidding... Lol. I'm still waiting for an answer or at least what some of the shitter's experiences were.
Also, majority of these questions, I still don't know the answer to. I refuse to Google mucous plug, but all I can imagine is when you are super sick, blow your nose, and you get a huge, slimy, green booger/snot.
STM here, so I'll bite and give you the gross "real scoop" @nutmegs8 and @jclester614: I (very unfortunately) ended up shitting on the table, and it was hard, not like diarrhea. Embarrassing, but you can't control where you're pushing from, so it all comes out. Would love to avoid it this time around, but if I can't, it's nothing I haven't done before.
The mucus plug is exactly what you think - it will look like you sneezed/blew your nose when you wipe. In my personal experience, I lost It a little at a time, so it wasn't so gag-inducing and traumatizing to see. Hoping for a similar experience this go-around too.
Also, while on the topic of gross/weird things our bodies do, I was taken aback the first time my boobs started leaking. I woke up with a wet shirt one morning and thought I spilled water on myself while drinking overnight but forgot/was half-tired. Nope, went into the bathroom, squeezed my nipple, and out comes liquid. To me, it was such a weird thing I wasn't mentally prepared for. You hear people talk about breast feeding, but then to actually see it come out for the first time was really strange to me. Get ready for those threads as well!
Sorry to be gross, but I hope it helps to inform/ease some FTM minds!

I work in an ER, you would not believe the things people have brought in plastic bags, tissues, Tupperware containers, etc. because they "thought you might want to see it/send a sample". Uhhhh, no. Thanks, though.

I worked in a psych unit at a hospital while I was in in grad school and I once had a patient bring me an unsolicited stool sample....in a sock. WTF
Along with the "whoa is me, I failed the 1hr. GD test" and the "I think I lost my mucous plug"...dont fret FTM, the mucous plug can grow back and just because you fail the 1hr. GD test does not mean you have GD. Everyone will tell you something different about how to prepare (fast, don't fast etc). Every hospital has different cut offs, some are 130 while others are 140. Even if you do end up with GD, it doesnt mean you will birth a giant. After the babies are born, we will be inundated with posts about "I still haven't pooped yet, I'm scared!", "I'm not making enough milk, help!" Or "When will my milk come in?" Also, how much is your baby eating and how often?" "It seems like all my baby wants to do is eat!!!" "Should my baby be sleeping this much?" "When should I start sleep training?" And last but not least, the dreaded pro/anti circ posts and pro/anti vax posts. And a year from now, "my baby is walking!" and other shit your kid is doing that we don't care about. 1st bday themes.
@ugabamafans - I know you ain't nasty like that!!!
I made the mistake of googling "you nasty GIFs" like in that movie... Oh God... The horror... I just threw up a little.
Why you gotta say stuff like this? You know curiosity will get the best of me! I'll see how long I can put it off. In the meantime, 'nasty' made me think of this:
My nursing professor actually made us play with a placenta in our L&D rotation. Yum.
Mine did this too, I actually was told I had to leave the room because apparently I got all pale and the professor thought I was going to faint. Not jealous of those who got to play with the placentas!
People will not only post pictures of their placentas, but pictures of pictures they made using their placentas, recipes for placenta (both cooked and raw, yum smoothies!), and where can I get my placenta encapsulated questions.
Side note: my exSIL kept her placenta from baby 2 in the freezer (Feb. baby) so that in the spring they could plant a tree on it...my brother didn't tell me this for a month and I KNOW I ate something out of that freezer. I realize that probably never even touched, but ewwwwwwwww!

Curious: how do you plan to try to "avoid" the poop situation this time around? I would think that would be impossible.
