I would LOVE to see that. Lions have a bad habit of spraying urine on stupid tourists who get too close.
This is true. When I was two my parents took me to the Kansas City Zoo. Their male lion was temporarily in an old fashioned cage while his usual home was being cleaned. Dude sprayed all over me and my stroller, which had lion pee stains on it for years. Apparently, I just laughed, and was angry my dad wouldn't let me lick the lion pee off myself.
Also, state of Amanders ute: A little crampy, but otherwise unknown. It enters the dark and mysterious "possible implantation zone" tomorrow. Will report back to base camp in 4-6 days.
@bbg676 I'm sorry but it does not. I sat though the whole thing and felt like I should get a couple of hours of my life back.
@Diordra - I'm going to go ahead and blame the lead male. The rest of the main cast (her entire family) are legit actors.
They should have, I don't know, put Kyle Gallner (Larkin) as him, instead. At least that would have profited on Gallner's seriously underrated ability to turn any wooden character into an intriguing one.
Hollywood needs to stop trying to thrust relative nobodies into the leads for a franchise based-off of books (especially teen-lit). Just because it 'worked' for Twilight does not mean lightening will strike twice.
Did you read the books? How were they? I'm still really pissed about Allegiant and will probably read Insurgent but won't go to the last book now that I know what happens. Okay, maybe I will. But I was wondering if Beautiful Creatures was better. I'm a grown-ass woman but I still love YA books. Not gonna lie

I'll be honest, I did not read the books. I just thought they were considered 'good' books, in terms of teen/YA lit, so I assumed the movie would be at least halfway decent (especially with the rest of the cast being top notch). I remember the hype/excitement when the movie was announced.
It is entirely possible that the books are still great, the movie was just really boring and sloppily written. It's like they put a storyline through the shredder and pasted together parts, hoping it would make sense, but it did not. Adaptations cut out bits of important text all the time and it is not as glaring as it was during this movie - every time they introduced a new concept, it made the plot less clear.
At the risk of sounding like a total geek, I think the problem with movies based on books is that you don't hear the dialogue going on in the characters' heads. Like when watching Hunger Games (the first movie) Katniss looks like an aloof bitch who just doesn't give a crap what's going on. However, in the book she's constantly thinking about what she's going to do next, wondering about everyone else's motivations, struggling internally with her feelings about Peeta and Gale, and plotting out how she's going to survive. Same thing with any other movie. I get really disappointed because in my head I imagine things happening different and I hear the thoughts of the characters but in the movie that usually translates them staring out into space trying to look like they're thinking really hard. You know what I mean?
I need to just download the samples to my nook to see if I like them. Writer's style either makes or breaks a book for me sometimes. If I can't get their style I lose interest very quickly.

Yup, I'm a geek. No question about it, I suppose.
