  • @kirotea and @amymheidecker Thank you, and that is super annoying. On my account screen it shows the avatar as being my pup, but on here it's champagne. I hope it switches over soon!

  • New avatar, added a ticker, AND my first gif in that one post. I feel like I've graduated to next level bumping today.
I can't get a ticker/sig to work... I gave up after many attempts even after googling how to. I never go on the computer anyways! Gah damn things.
I tried like 12 times in the beginning and it never worked! This time, I just made the ticker on the bump, right clicked on the ticker and selected "save image address". Then went to edit my signature, and pasted the link in the little box that looks like a polaroid picture of nature. What threw me off at first was the fact that they give you links to copy & paste, and those links don't work.

  • It's like Christmas in Februaury in our house. My husband did the grocery shopping and our grocery store had random boxes (3) of white choc covered Oreos, usually only out at Christmas, which are my absolute fav. He bought 2 boxes. Soo happy.

I didn't think this deserved it's own thread but thought you ladies might appreciate it. It appears I took DS (2.5) to a few too many OB appointments. Last night DH found DS taking a cup to the toilet so he could pee in it like mama does at the doctor! Oh DS.....
I've taken DD to my last few appointments. When we walk into the bathroom she immediately hands me a pee cup from the table; she knows the drill.

  • Someone posted the other day about having to tell their family not to post anything on FB when their baby is born until they can make their announcement first. The thought never crossed my mind to do so until today. My mom wrote a post and tagged my cousin and his wife congratulating them on the birth of their son yesterday. Neither of them had announced on their pages yet (nor had anyone else said anything on there) and now my mom's post is at the top of both of their pages. I will be discussing this with her when I see her this weekend. My baby, my announcement comes first.

I already had the discussion! Do it!
Thats just your cousin- imagine with her own grandchild. There will be pictures and everything.

I told my mom i was putting a basket by the door and when people come in the hospital room they had to put their phones there. (Complete sarcasm- but not totally ruling it out)!

  • The good news about nowadays is that it is so quick and simple to upload a picture from your smart phone, so it shouldn't be too hard to announce before someone else.

I announced from the hospital lat time via Facebook and sent out texts from the hospital bed when LO was sleeping :)

  • In preparation for little baby occasionally ending up in our bed, and the small possibility of water breaking while sleeping, I just installed a waterproof mattress cover on the bed. Ugh.... I feel like a 3 year-old who is being potty trained... (at least it doesn't sound crinkly!)

Also, I miss being able to take a leisurely 10 minute walk around the neighborhood on such a gorgeously warm (above freezing!) day as this without spending the rest of the day feeling like I was riding a horse for 5 hours.

Unless like me and you don't want to announce while you're in the hospital.

Another reason we won't be announcing name or sex until we leave the hospital (except to my homies here on m14 ;) )

Yeah, we're not going to be rushing to put anything on FB... Family will be notified first and we've got plenty of family not on FB.

The twins were born on a Wednesday night and we didn't post anything until Monday. We wanted to tell a lot of people first hand, and FIL and step-MIL were out of the country at the time.

I'm thinking of getting a waterproof mattress pad too... I guess it could come in handy in the long run... just another thing to add to the shopping list.

This. My mom and I got into a tiff because I said I didn't want stuff posted all over Facebook. She got upset and said it was her right. Sheesh. Social media is ruining life events that deserve at least a bit of privacy.
  • Or not..... lol. Perhaps it needs time to set in...

My BIL actually did this today and he wasn't even on my radar of possible people who would. I talked to my mom and my MIL, totally didn't see his post coming. The only reason I was even on FB was because my dad had requested that I post a picture and tag him since that is the only type of technology that he knows how to use. I'm a little pissed, but it's too late now.
  • My random thoughts for this morning:

    1. I've never been one to have big events planned around me... (i.e. birthday parties, graduation party, whatever.) The fact that my baby shower is in two days, and all of my family, my close friends, and all of MH's family are planning on being there is making me feel not only a little overwhelmed (since I get out of breath and panic when I start to feel clausterphobic) but I also feel a little like an AW. Don't get me wrong, I'm absolutely up the wall with excitement, but there are those lurking negative feelings, too...

    2. I don't like Frosted Cheerios. They're too sweet.

    3. I need a nap. It's not quite 10am, and I need a nap. Fuck this. -___-;;

    I need to vent.

Back story: MIL is a chronic alcoholic. Last April she fell hard and caused some pretty severe brain damage. Drinking after that will only make the brain damage worse. She, of course, has been drinking.

She drank so much Mon night (all night into early Tues morning) that she was hallucinating. The last time she was hallucinating was when she was detoxing after the fall she had last April so she really seemed to have had a lot more than her normal amount. My H and his aunt convinced MIL that going to rehab was the best thing for her right now (they've done this multiple times but haven't had any success). MIL actually called rehab (yay!!!!!). But she must have talked more about her brain injury than the fact that she downed waaaay too much cheap vodka because they won't take her. WHAT. THE. FUCK.

So now my H is going to see if he can kind of coach her into saying what the rehab place wants to hear just so they'll take her since she's still thinking she needs to go. We don't want her to give up on that - getting any help at this point would be a huge step forward.

It's just a shitty situation all around. My H has pretty much mentally prepared himself for his mother dying at the ripe young age of 60. He has done everything he can to help her but nothing has worked. I am extremely concerned that him "giving up" (he said he was if he can't get her into rehab right now) will have harsh physical and emotional consequences on him. The emotional ones we can see a counselor/therapist for. The physical ones are much more difficult. He has Crohn's and stressful situations can cause a major flare-up.

He told me he was looking forward to having the baby because then he could actually tell her to fuck off and ignore her while he focuses on something happy.

/vent. Thanks for reading if you made it this far.
Oh man :( This sounds terrible.... I hope she's able to get the help she needs.  How do you think she will act when the baby is born?  Will it cause more stress if she's not in rehab when you give birth or will it not matter?  Either way it sucks and I'm sorry you're going through it..

    Hahaha thats so gross!
I won't even tell you the dramatic story that happened with mine, but my H threw up when i told him.

@kirotea is that actually possible to "lose it slowly?" Or is that a joke???? I am expecting it every time I pee but also wondered if it can "slowly" Happen and just look like a weird discharge.
Yep - you can lose it slowly. I say that I've been losing mine because (possible TMI here) when I wipe after peeing, there's some mucus that I'm wiping away. Not a ton, but enough to tell it's not just the normal discharge.
I think this might be me too. But, I'm secretly disapointed that I'm never going to see this "fist sized clump" that others talk about... :P
