1st Trimester

Please help! I am looking for make up that I can use.

I am in my 1st trimester. Very early about to be 4 weeks pregnant (yes, I tested early). I have been wanting to do my make up but can't because I don't think any of the make up I have is safe to use during pregnancy. Does anyone know what kind of make up I can use? What are you ladies using? Also where can I purchase natural make up?

  • You can use any kind of make up? What makes you think you can't use normal make up?
  • No, I've just been reading a lot about chemicals in the make up that we don't know about. This is my first baby and I rather be safe than sorry. @rainydayluck...im not quite understanding your question.
  • @Meggie0421 please don't comment if ur gonna be rude. u need to mind ur business!!! I made the post so that classy, educated and women who are actually on here to help each other out to comment. Not interested in what someone like you has to say.
  • I don't care! I asked for opinions of those who actually have something useful to say. Don't really want to listen to garbage. U really have a stick up ur a$$. Aren't you all about to be mothers. Why are you all so angry...gosh embrace this wonderful moment and stop being so grumpy.
  • @morsebrooks I didn't know until I got a positive. Now I am more aware. That is what i was asking...Its been difficult to find the safe brands you are referring to. Where would I find these?

@haygurlhay According to your signature ur 7 months...Either way if u don't have anything to contribute then please don't waste my time.
  • Thank you so much!! This was really helpful :-)

yes, didn't know that's what it was. 7 months can mean anything. Anyways go check on ur baby or make urself useful and stop bothering me.
  • wow! lol poor woman. U should be ashamed of urself. Ur someone's mother and acting like a high school chick. Grow up. I'm done talking to you. Please don't reply and if u do I'll just ignore you. I have nothing to say to someone as ignorant as you.
  • awe! very cute!

  • @morsebrooks she is beautiful!!

everyone else it was just a question because of several articles I've read. I am not stressing this at all. One of the first things you should do when you become pregnant is educate yourself. This is my first baby so I'm allowed to do what I want and ask the questions i feel i need answers to. Stop being Grumpy people!
  • really?!?!? I couldn't tell.
  • If you want to use natural products b/c it makes you feel better, then do it, by all means.  Anything organic is chemical/pesticide-free, but any make-up that you are buying right now is safe to use while being pregnant.  You can check out the Eco-friendly board and a lot of those women know lots about all kinds of natural products.

You have to find a balance though!  I use some natural products and some stuff, I don't.  With my first pregnancy I drove myself crazy trying to avoid this and avoid that.  It is too stressful and I suggest you just follow what your OB/midwife tells you.

Nope.  It's not.  At all.  Very false.
Sorry if I am wrong then.  I try to use organic and natural products most of the time, but I am new to it, therefore maybe not correct.  So much conflicting stuff out there!

I also use the EWG Skin Deep website to check product information as well.

It's incorrect because everything on this planet is composed of chemicals.  The air we breathe is oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and trace amounts of other gases.  Those are all chemicals.  The food we eat, the reactions going on in our bodies, etc... all chemicals.

Somewhere along the way, natural product companies started a smear campaign against chemicals and said chemicals were bad.  Unfortunately, they never named which ones, just all of 'em.  It makes no sense because their own products *have* to be chemically-based.  You, me, the earth, the air, the galaxy = all chemically based.

Don't have a knee-jerk reaction that a chemical is bad.  Don't have a knee-jerk reaction that natural is good.  Poison dart frogs are pretty darn natural, but will kill you.  Insulin that is taken by diabetics is, in essence, "man-made" (meaning, a human body didn't make it).  It's life saving.

Marketing wants you to believe things.  Don't buy into it.  Be smarter.  Be wiser.  Be knowledgeable :-)

    Yes, makes sense! Thanks :)

  • Wow...I'm new here and truly amazed at how petty this discussion has gotten.  I personally do not wear makeup very often, other than occasional eye shadow and lip color, so I really am not concerned for my pregnancy, but I did find a few articles via Google that may help you...or just make you even more nervous.  The links are below.  The best advice I can give, though, is ask your doctor if you're really that concerned.  In my opinion there's no such thing as being too cautious when it comes to your health and that of your baby, but at the same time, some of the info out there can just scare the hell out of you for no reason.  When in doubt as your doc.  Best of luck to you :-)

@nymama1 ur another idiot who must have not read what i wrote!
  • @nellybluth I am only calling people on here grumpy because look at the responses. People if ur on here u must have or be planning kids. How do you speak like that? The cursing and the anger in ur posts tells a lot about u. Its a shame....
  • Ardmhs83 Thank you so much for the input. I will definitely look into those boards. I guess these ladies did not understand. I am not saying that i am going to go completely organic. I think that would not only be impossible for me but also super expensive. I just want to live a healthier life style. Now that Im pregnant I am more aware because I've been reading. The reason why i asked about the make up was to see if others were using something specific that I was unaware of. It was a question. These women in here seem to be a bit ignorant (i am not name calling, just stating the obvious). If someone were to ask a question I would just answer it instead of calling people dumb and being rude. Just because i know something does not mean someone else knows too.
My husband and i recently bought a house and the paint we are using does not smell at all. Had someone not told me about it i woulda been very sick because the fumes really affect my respiratory system.  Anyways thank you for answering my question with something useful.
  • oules235 oh wow! thank you for the great response!! loving the website.
