Ours is coming together... Paint, carpet, new blinds, ceiling fan, new closet doors - all done. The crib is together and bedding is on. We are going to put the dresser together tomorrow. I've bought some cute trinkets and am trying to find the right wall art... I found the perfect thing but it is just was too expensive for a baby's room! Boo.
I also just bought this, because I don't want to waste space with a changing table https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000GAYYCE/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1. I want to hang it off the side of the dresser, where I'll put a changing pad. Anyone else use one? Any thoughts?
We signed the papers for our new house yesterday! Now we just have to wait for the deal to close, and in a month or two I may actually be able to post some nursery pics.
I need your opinion. My coworker is selling her crib for $50. It is light wood and I would paint it white. Is it safe to paint a crib? What kind of paint would be best?
I think it's totally safe to paint a crib. Not sure on paint. I'm guessing something low VOC/ non toxic ?

I've done some research and low VOC is what I'm finding to be best. I get the crib tomorrow and can't wait to get it started!
We are painting the room this weekend. Then starting the crib and looking for a used dresser to refinish. I am so excited. We discussed doing the furniture white, but the more I see grey cribs the more I like them. We will see..
We're finally starting to make some progress.... wood floors are installed, walls are painted gray, crib is put together, rug is in, prints are in and in their frames but not hung, glider is ordered but not in yet. Still need to put together the dresser, find and buy a mirror, hang the curtains and about a million other things, but it's nice to look in there and feel like it actually looks like a nursery! As for the bathroom, I found a pottery barn kids transportation shower curtain I loved and hung it in there, but otherwise we still have a lot of stuff to clear out before I can decorate! My MIL painted the room and still has some touching up to do on the trim, so ignore the paint supplies and the outlet covers that haven't been put back on yet.

@ricecakes1216 fun! I love stuff like that. I found a gray crib I loved but SO said it looked like a fortress. :-/ so we bought a white crib, maybe I will get to paint it for #2
We won't be thinking abut a nursery until LO is 3-4 months. We'll still be using her room as a guest room for parents to visit from NZ. But I wanted to share these couple of resources for hacking Ikea furniture:
@elsa1688 If we paint them gray they will be a really light gray. The walls are a bit darker so it will still look clean and have some contrast. I really like it, but the question is, am I brave enough?
@bebemac they are decals. I was scared to use paint. They are inspired by beautiful wallpaper by Osbourne & Little. We got them at wallsneedlove.com, and bought two sets.
Yay, finally I can play! My mom and I put together the crib, changing table, and storage cube for the closet yesterday. The crib was pretty easy but that cube was a biotch lol The carpets were just installed last week and we painted the week prior.

We are planning to order our dressers and hutch this weekend, pick out and buy paint, and start playing musical rooms so we can get started in the nursery. :-) So I should be sharing some pictures soon :-)
@BMaidPlanner, you are not alone! DH just painted the nursery and that is as far as we have gotten. It's a lot of money and work to do all at once. So we do it in baby steps.
My shower is in April so I will finalize everything after that! No worries you will get there
NOTHING IS DONE and all my furniture will be on the registry. Shower not for another couple months too. (Room is still storage, office...a mess of crap.)
Almost all done! We just need to choose a name for our little girl to out above her crib! I love he way the gray, navy, white, and hot pink turned out together!

@SamMills yes! I think DH is gonna kill me if I show him one more thing I need him to do from Pinterest! Those gutters were twice as expensive as I thought they'd be and 4 times the work! But they sure are cute!
@SarahS11 I know how you feel lol. I've showed my guy so much from Pinterest that he went and got his own account! they look great! I'm thinking of adding some shelves like that to our living room since that's where most our toddlers books are!
@babywear Another good idea! I'm going to take a look in town and see what I can find similar to you girls!
I have been looking every night for some bedding that I like... Still can't find the one!! Any suggestions on websites?? I have looked at kohls, BRU, jcpenney, kmart, target, carousel( too expensive) I have googled different "beddings" still can't find one!!? So any help on reasonable websites??

Have you looked at Land of Nod? It's Crate & Barrel's kids site. I think I am going to get my crib skirt from there.
This is all we've got so far....two walls. Still needs to be touched up for sure lol. We will have white furniture and all kinds of colorful decor. More later lol
Love the colors!! So cute!! Cant wait to see it finished!

mtgrizgirl I have questions! How tall are your ceilings? How far up did you do the strip and how big is the stripe? We are doing that in the baby's room and are debating where we want the stripe and how thick it should be.
Put our crib together tonight! I love it and am so happy I got the crib I had my heart set on and didn't settle for another one.
I got a great deal on it too.

Its adorable!! Can I ask where you got it? I can never find cribs like that!
Thanks everyone. It is a Jenny Lind Davinci crib and the color is Lagoon. The same crib comes in white, wood color and yellow. There are lots of tutorials online where people have bought white ones and painted it a different color themselves.
You can buy it on Amazon, JC Penney, Target, etc but pretty much everywhere it's an "online item" only.
I got mine from Kohls on sale and with a coupon, it was $160. I think it's usually $250 on Amazon for the lagoon. The white is less expensive.

Love, love, love it!! I wanted a Jenny Lind in white sooooo bad but my husband didn't think it was "boyish" enough and I was sick of arguing about it. lol! I finally talked him into a white crib so I felt like I won

Well, finally getting a start on our nursery! We are almost done moving my sister to her new room to clean out the room for baby. We bought paint today, and we picked up the Jenny Lind changing table my mom is giving me. :-) it needs a little TLC but I got a start on it. It's all painted to match our white crib. We just need to add a new shelf and paint a second coat and it will be ready to go. Going to probably start painting the nursery tomorrow. :-) I'm so excited.
Well this thread definitely motivated me. Last night we finally started working on the nursery, but this is how it looked when we started . It was our junk room before...
Finally painted the room and here is our crib and dresser w the bedding! I may move the dresser next to the crib though since the top will be used as the changing table. Thoughts?
We went to look at paint samples this weekend. My husband picked out some very nice blue paint chips, but I really wanted anything but blue. I have our bedroom to paint also so maybe I'l settle for a pale blue in the babies room if I get my way in our room.
Basically, we still don't have a plan. My goal is paint the walls a color that allows the room to be used as something else later and doesn't scream "a baby lived here." We are visiting my parents this weekend so we will see how everything with the apartment construction is going and make final choices once we see the actual space...I hope.
Re: Nursery pics - share yours
I'm a ftm but was thinking 3... Just in case
