I also love snowstorms. And I call Brennon "the baby" all of the time. He IS the baby. I am exhausted and lame today. That's not an opinion, that's a fact. :)

We frequently just refer to the kids as him or her. Did you feed her? Was that him crying?

People playing the devil's advocate like to start an argument IMO. I think they tend to agree with the other person, but are in a feisty mood and want a debate. I see it here and real life btw friends all the time and I just roll my eyes and move on. I never get involved. No point. I don't need to be taught a lesson. I am big enough to see both sides of the coin. That's probably unpopular, right? I never participate in these bc I never have a UO! I tried with this one.

Noooo... I feel like if anything could get in the way of meeting my goal of EBF for a year, it's this. I was hoping this was a silly fear and didn't actually happen to people. :(

The bolded are two very different things IMO. Am I wrong @peanutmuse?  We discussed this long ago...like...first tri long ago!  Debating is fun..arguing not so much

    Agreed @marbee1214.

I completely understand not involving yourself in a debate that you don't really care about or just avoiding them in general if they make you uncomfortable. But I think you misunderstand (and misrepresent) those of us who do enjoy a good debate.

  • I love small living spaces. My apt is cozy and homey without being cluttered. Everything is carefully chosen and there's very few "I might use that one day" items. I would never want a giant house. I've lived in large houses and they just turn into another large responsibility.

I agree with the large houses part. We live in a co-op and never have to worry about shoveling, mowing the lawn, property taxes etc. I'd like a big house, but we'd fail miserably at taking care of it.
  • On the same note as the "cozy" living spaces thread of thought... I originally wanted to buy a house before having any babies, but got the baby fever bad after we got married, so we are still renting a 3 BR, 1000 SF condo. I know some people (*cough*, my dad) look down on us for raising our baby in something that is not a house, but we are saving a ton of money living here because not only is the rent cheaper than a mortgage, but we don't have to pay property taxes and even have some utilities covered. Plus, I'm thankful I don't have to deal with stairs/separate floors with LO.

DD only bit me once. It hurt for a minute, but I was fine. It did never happened again and did not make me want to quit BFing.

In regards to the getting married on a holiday. I think it is inconsiderate when people get married over a holiday weekend and are having a destination or out of town wedding where the majority of guests have to travel. Because of the holiday, it makes the travel so much more expensive. Also, most people have family plans on holidays.

We got married Labor day weekend. It was the only way most of our out of town families could make it.
  • As much as BFing is relatvely easy for me, I hate the first couple weeks. I also hate smelling like sour milk...I'm constantly cleaning my boobs.

Our pedi told us early on that if LO starts biting to take them off the boob and they will figure out pretty quickly that they won't get milk if they bite. I BF DS1 for 17 months with no issues with him having teeth.

  • I actually like putting DD in outfits rather than just zip up sleep & plays every day. It is more of a pain but I find when she looks extra cute I am less able to stay frustrated with her when she's clusterfeeding or won't let me put her down to eat.

Agreed. I dress dd every day in my over abundance of cute outfits with matching headbands. I think I do this though just because I am so excited to have a girl now!

My mil calls Abby that. I hate when people say DH can babysit. Husbands don't babysit...they are the father!!! I don't babysit all day. When I run an errand, daddy stays home with her, he didn't babysit her.
Completely agree. A parent is not a babysitter.

We do say the baby and I do have nicknames that I use, but we use DD's name more. I knew some whose family called her son big boy. When he went to preschool and the teacher used his actual name, he threw a fit and told her his name was big bit.  Stepdaughter's mom used to call her baby girl and then big girl once the mom got pregnant again. That baby was little man but is now big man since baby boy two was just born. To me, the overuse of nicknames can be confusing to kids. You gave the kid a name so use it.

This may not be a UO but I really don't like that people wear jeans when going to the theater or dance performances. It's a dress up event IMO. Along the same lines, it annoys me that there are people who walk around the theater selling candy and bottled water. It's not a movie theater!

  • I got married Dec 20. So not quite Christmas but close. The only people who had to travel was my grandma who was coming any way.

I loved it! We saved a ton on decorations because the church was already decorated. We also spent Christmas on the beach in Jamaica. Wouldn't change a thing!

My UO is that I'm not going back on horomonal birth control or IUD. If there's even a slight chance that they would allow an egg to be fertilized but not implant, I don't want it. Not saying I want 20 kids or that I think down on others who use them. Just saying that is what DH and I decided for us. :)
  • I think getting married on holidays is lame, but the pinnacle is getting married on Valentine's Day. (this UO brought to you by the couple getting married on Good Morning America tomorrow)

A good friend is getting married the Saturday after thanksgiving...in Cancun and I'm in the wedding. Should be fun getting plane tickets. Told her we won't be there until Friday. This is lo's first thanksgiving and want her with family and I want to be there. We are leaving her with my mil so wanted to be here for the holiday. Oh well if we miss anything pre-wedding.

  • I hate when people don't call my son by his name its always my grandson, nephew, cousin etc. Or "kman" his name is Kaleb get freaking used to it. you are all making me crazy it makes me wanna cut you, cut you deep.
Also its not "our" baby. It is mine and my husbands.
  • It's going to be 80+ degrees today. Seriously, LA? Get your act together, it's February. I sort of wish we had a snow day only because I want to sit in bed and watch Netflix all day instead of going for a walk outside.

I read this a few seconds after booking flights to St. Thomas for a destination wedding over Memorial Day weekend. Um, not only is it on a holiday weekend, but it's a freaking destination wedding. Double whammy and double rude, IMO.

And I don't buy the whole, "it's the only time relatives could travel." Sorry-not-sorry, @monkeybutt61612. In my experience and opinion, that's just what people who choose holidays for weddings tell themselves to make themselves feel better about it.

    ETA: missing word

Well, I felt better having my family at my wedding.
  • I hate the swing and wish DD did, too. It's such a pain strapping her into it and the whole time I'm worried she's going to wake up from the buckles snapping, and when she does fake-out naps I get really annoyed that I just have to undo all the snaps all over again already. I wish she would just chill in the bouncer all the time because it's so much easier.

This our stance on BC as well. We use spermicide and a diaphragm or condoms. It has worked very well for us. Once we are sure we're done having kids, DH will get snipped.

This may be an UO, but I don't strap DD into the swing. Not now anyways. I have the fisher price cradle and swing and its at the more reclined setting now. If / when her swing was more upright and / or she was more mobile, I will strap her in.
We don't strap her into the bouncer for this reason, but her swing (Graco swing by me) is a good foot off the ground and she's so violent when she cries I think if she weren't strapped in she could easily fling herself out of it. Or maybe I'm just an over-paranoid FTM. ;)

I hate huggies diapers, this is the 5th piss leak total and my sheets are soaked atm. Pampers > Huggies
Absolutely! But can I make a suggestion? Target brand diapers. They are freaking amazing! I have not had one leak with DS since using them and DD has only leaked because I waited waaaaaayyyyy too long to change her or just forgot. Do it. You won't regret it! Andplusalso, way in the heck cheaper.
