It's going to be 80+ degrees today. Seriously, LA? Get your act together, it's February. I sort of wish we had a snow day only because I want to sit in bed and watch Netflix all day instead of going for a walk outside.
Rub it in why don't you... We are having a heat wave in michigan... Might hit 30 degrees today. :-q
@jessicabcairns what the heck is up with Huggies.. it is just a cool name. I had to switch her to the leftover Huggies we got from the hospital because I ran out of pampers last night. I made a quick run to Kmart just now.
@RedSaffron You can order them online if you're interested. (Unless you're international, you aren't are you?) That's what I do. The closest Target is 1.5 hours away for me.
In regards to the getting married on a holiday. I think it is inconsiderate when people get married over a holiday weekend and are having a destination or out of town wedding where the majority of guests have to travel. Because of the holiday, it makes the travel so much more expensive. Also, most people have family plans on holidays.
I read this a few seconds after booking flights to St. Thomas for a destination wedding over Memorial Day weekend. Um, not only is it on a holiday weekend, but it's a freaking destination wedding. Double whammy and double rude, IMO.
And I don't buy the whole, "it's the only time relatives could travel." Sorry-not-sorry, @monkeybutt61612. In my experience and opinion, that's just what people who choose holidays for weddings tell themselves to make themselves feel better about it.
ETA: missing word
Well, I felt better having my family at my wedding.
@redsaffron yes! We love our pampers. Unfortunately (?) we got tons of other brands for the baby showers that we have to use up before justifying buying our own m. Luckily we are on our last box of 1's. They are also the only ones with an indicator line (that we found). Which DH needs cause he can't tell if a diaper is just wet (I guess a plus side of knowing what a wet maxi pad feels like). My lol sis swore Huggins were better so got us three giant boxes of them. I hear some brands are better for boys vs goes though and she has a boy.

If you take unopened packages of diapers to a store that sells that brand, many times they will let you exchange them for a different brand regardless of if they were bought there because they can still resell them. It's worth a shot, I did it at the grocery store here in town with a pack of huggies someone got me. I was able to exchange them for pampers even though they were bought elsewhere.
@jessicabcairns@KEfam5@smilles4 Would it be evil for me to make my SIL's diaper cake with the leftover Huggies I got from my baby shower? Her baby shower is next month. That would have been a good FFFC.
Totally agree about Huggies vs. Pampers! My kid has peed out of every Huggies diaper I have put him in, and it is typically on me while he is nursing.
My UO: I should probably post this on the thread I'm referring to, but don't feel like starting something there. I can't stand when people call themselves OCD because they want their house clean or are type A about planning things. This is not OCD and I think it minimizes people who actually have OCD.
DH and I believe in life at fertilization, not just implantation. It's kind of a gray area when it all begins, but that's what we believe (and I understand and respect those who believe it starts later like implantation or first heart beat etc. But I definitely believe it starts before birth). So with that back ground, with horomonal contraception and IUDs, it is possible that the bc could allow an egg to be fertilized but still inhibit implantation. To us, this can be seen as abortive in nature. So we will use condoms to prevent sperm and eggs meeting and this avoid that whole situation. the Duggars just keep doing it willy-nilly and take whatever kids come. While I will greatly welcome more kids, I'm thinking 4 at most
On another note, I think my DD has plenty of personality to have her own TLC show! The little ham today put on her disney princess dress and put on a whole show for her "baby" aka LO. This went on for hours.
I actually like putting DD in outfits rather than just zip up sleep & plays every day. It is more of a pain but I find when she looks extra cute I am less able to stay frustrated with her when she's clusterfeeding or won't let me put her down to eat.
I soooo second this!!! It's fun to dress them up, even though yes the onesies are easier cause the poo and pee every 30 min. DH gets pissed when I put like pants and socks and undergarment onesie with a onesie on top on DS, well u know what get over it!!!! Edit- stupid thumb always hits post before I'm done. Type to fast.
@marbee1214 I wasn't offended by the TLC comment! It made me laugh
I'm Christian, and pretty conservative. My DH is a Southern Baptist minister.
Since bc has progesterone (which is in plan b but in higher levels there) it works to make the body think it's pregnant. So most of the time it suppresses ovulation. But, as I understand it, it also secondarily will make the body think it's pregnant so as not to implant another fertilized egg. Kind of like a back up. Now the stopping ovulation is the main action and is what happens most of the time, but I want to avoid that small chance that the secondary kicks in. That's me though.
I don't mind Huggies. We haven't had any leaks or anything. They definitely don't smell as nice as pampers, but we haven't had any issues. Matter of fact the only leaks we've had have been non-Huggies diapers ( and we've used majority Huggies). @redsaffron- do you flip the little flaps out around the legs and the back?
& I've always liked Valentines Day. My inlaws got married on Valentines day 29 years ago...so cliche perhaps, but it's a lasting love.
Random and lame- but I love bananas that are almost too ripe. I think they taste the best when the skin is all spotty.

We got married Labor day weekend. It was the only way most of our out of town families could make it.
We also got married on a long weekend - Victoria Day (which is the May long weekend here). It was for the same reason. My husbands family lives spread out over the province and it was the easiest way for all of them to make it. Granted the vast majority (read all but my Aunt & Uncle from Texas) of our guests drove so it didn't make travel any more expensive then normal. And my Aunt & Uncle were up before our wedding for a different reason, so they just stayed longer than they normally would have to attend.

@ashleywiz I sure do flip those flaps lol. Idk what it is. We used the little snugglers and leaked every time she has a waterfall piss. Idk if it can absorb the pee as quick as pampers..

You don't have to answer, but is it a particular religion that you adhere to? Personally I'm against abortion in 99.9% of cases and would never take something like Plan B, but I never thought of hormonal birth control in the same category. The TCL thing was me being very lighthearted and I hope you didn't take any offense to my earlier post
edited because I type too fast
Actually, Plan B will not affect a fertilized egg. It only works by delaying ovulation. So it is effective if you haven't ovulated yet. If you have, and the sperm found it and fertilized it, you're SOL. It is a misconception when called the "abortion pill". I'm catholic and have no problem dispensing it. Birth control since it has 2 different kinds of hormones (estrogen and progesterone) will delay ovulation, and also affects the lining of the uterus to inhibit implantation of a fertilized egg. Hence why I don't understand why some pharmacists will dispense birth control but NOT Plan B.
I think Dr. Oz is a creeper. When he brings women on stage he always holds their hands way too long, or hugs them and doesn't let go. It's awkward and weird.
Did you see the recent episode where he smelled a lady's belly button?? If anyone disagrees with you about him being a creeper, just show them that clip!

Hmm? I donno. Hopefully pampers are actually better for you! Maybe Violet just has thicker thighs or something? Haha there's just so much Huggies hate and I'm over here shrugging my shoulders because I don't mind them one bit.
Since being home on maternity leave, I have grown fond of Dr. Phil. His shows are entertaining as shit. The one the other day about the mom who accused her ex of kidnapping her son - the bitch admitted openly on the show that she was drunk Tweeting and drunk Facebooking threats to her ex! Hilarious!
Also: Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. If I hear one more person bitch about how they can't wait for summer, I'm going to go off on someone. Let us winter loving people have our moment. Y'all can have your 102 degree days, your humid mornings, and your sunburns from late May to September.

We use Huggies too and have only had leaks when my mom changes DS! I love the Huggies, and when I tried Pampers I didn't like them nearly as much (with the exception of the sides, I liked the tabs).
@brideandbreve I'm a winter-lover,too! I hate summer. I was so glad to be super pregnant when it would be cold even though I ended up stuck in the hospital.

It's been a little while since I've been around but just wanted to chime in here. It's still Thursday for another 40 minutes:

My UO: I can't stand when people take selfies all the time and post them to social networks. 95% of the time, that's not what you look like. You've twisted your face, or contorted your body in such a way that you think is more attractive, and then you're showing it publicly like that's what you look like. A lot of times I'll see people who typically look like they've rolled out of bed take selfies with hair and makeup done, eyebrows raised.. Duck face etc. what happened to a good old fashioned smile while taking part in an activity or being with friends/family. Sometimes I wonder what the ratio of selfies to sincere, genuine photos is.
I hate most country music. I feel like it's designed to tell you a story that's gonna make you cry. When I worked in a pharmacy there was a song they Played that may have been called " I'm already there" and it was like listening to a corny chain letter. At that point I realized I was not a fan. And don't get me started on Taylor swift. All her sustained notes are flat.

Along that line I hate the songs butterfly kisses and the Christmas song the Christmas shoes.
I hate it when people use their kids' photos as their profile pics on FB. I totally get it on the Bump - we're always talking about the LOs - but on FB so many of my friends do it I can't tell who is who.
And by the way, you are just as beautiful and as important as your kid, so don't hide behind them! (Cover photos of the children, of course, are completely acceptable.)
I hate Taylor Swift. Haaaaaaaate. I have no good reason - I can see her songs are catchy and I am sure she's great live. But man there's something about her that's so smug it makes me what to punch her in the face.

Christmas shoes is the saddest song in the world. If I'm around people and it comes on, I will either change the song/station, or leave the room! I cry. Every. Time.

I agree. But mostly because those are the ppl saying things you wouldn't associate with baby faces.
My UO....I don't understand why people get worried about an oversupply of breastmilk. :-?
@carmlvsjose aside from the painful engorgement, it causes LO to get too much fore milk and not enough hind milk. Since hind milk has the fat in it, it's important for brain development and amount of calories.
DS got chemical burns from Pampers. I tried to use a few on DD and she got raw immediately. I hate the mesh. They are the devil. I have never had issues with leaks with Huggies.
