I just finished a duvet cover for a Restoration Hardware crib size down comforter my dd received (totally random, but great gift). I would love to make a matching skirt but the fabric was pricey. A regular white skirt would be way cheaper and sufficient with the style. I might do curtains because they would last longer and be I feel more reasonable to spend on.
I've made burp cloths and bibs. I want to make some muslin blankets (love the pp mention of dyeing them!). I've made/making minky/flannel (lined) blankets for my friends, but I think it will be a waste with a June baby. I'm debating on matching pillow case dresses for my girls, but once again I'm not sure if it pays in the end (fabric can be expensive). Lastly, I'm thinking of making a Moby. I just need to do some research.

So far I've knitted about 15 bibs a couple blankets and after finding out its a girl I started a really cute sweater. I can't wait to bust my sewing machine out next!!
I'm more "handy" than "crafty" so I'm building shelving and storage into the nursery closet, doing all the painting and handywork needed in the room, etc. I do plan to make a few things to go on the walls but they are pretty simple.
I will be attempting the crib sheets, crib skirt, and perhaps curtains. I'd like to make their wall art as well. I try to be crafty, but it's hard when you're so terrible at it haha.
I gotta admit, it's kind of weird when one of your old posts gets bumped... but, since someone did it... I have finished the baby blanket I mentioned in the OP. Might as well share it!
I haven't been knitting nearly as much for this baby as I thought I would be. Turns out making a baby is plenty hard enough work in itself.

I just started crocheting a blanket last night. I tried to teach myself how to knit but that was kind of an epic fail. I would also like to sew a nursing cover.
Depending on the size, I find crocheting to be better for baby blankets anyway. Knitting needles, even circulars (those are the ones that have tips and a cable joining them), limit you in size. I'll possibly be crocheting a second, heavier, larger baby blanket for the winter months, if I ever find the energy.

I have a HUGE list of things to make. I can't knit or crochet but I can 'somewhat' sew. I'm making the bedding, crib skirt, crib rail covers, a couple of blankets, changing pad covers, curtains, decorative pillows and pillowcase (for toddler years), a fitted sheet for a pack n play, and the list doesn't stop! I have already made a bunch of burp cloths and receiving blankets (something I do for all of my friends) and have already made the car seat blanket and want to do the car seat cover too. I think I have too much planned for myself, but I'm going to try really really hard to get all of it done! My husband just made our upstairs into a giant 'craft loft' for me and he's been encouraging me to just go sew all day on the weekends So I'm trying! (I'm also in the process of making sleeping bags for my nieces American Girl dolls - ugh!)
@sempre_staccato, I've been working that pattern for a baby blanket for about a year now! I do a row here and there but have only gotten about 1/3 complete... I get distracted by pretty patterns and always have about 5 projects going. Yours turned out beautiful!!

Thanks! Gotta admit, I have no idea how you can put it down for long stretches! Every time I put it down, I got lost in the chart and couldn't figure out where I had left off. It took me four months to finish, working on it fairly consistency (I'm usually a 1 WIP at a time type person..), because I kept getting so lost, I'd knit a row, tick back because I realized it was the wrong one, knit a row, tick back, knit a row... gah. So frustrating!

I'm not very crafty. I wish I were, but it was never really taught to me. I love Pinterest so I've been trying different things. My girlfriend just gave me a *solid* wood entertainment center that I'm repurposing for a complete changing station like this. Question for crafty people tho: is it safe to paint a crib? I really want a pop of color in her nursery and if love to do an aqua crib, but wondering if I should just stick to the bedding being bright?

Based on my research, you'll get differing opinions on this. I plan on painting our crib. Just make sure you use a no-VOC paint and a non-toxic sealer. Also, check the manufacturer's FAQ page. My crib is Storkcraft, and they actually address the question on their website. (Not recommended, but they provide information if you insist.)

Playlists. For the car, for soothing, because I love music and want to share that with LO. I'm also hoping to paint a picture for the nursery, but I don't have my usual level of energy so we'll see.
My mom always made leopard print blankets for babies. She passed away and I don't really sew, but I'm kind of hoping one of my aunts may come up with one.

@Temurlang1 - I'm sorry about your mom. Do you have pictures of the blankets she has made in the past? Are you having a boy or girl? If I can (I'm not super great at sewing and don't know much about actual quilting but I know how to make some blankets) I'd totally make one for you! I don't know why but this really hit me in a way that I can't explain and I want to help
@shakeweights Wow! I'm really touched, that's so so sweet of you :x
We're having a girl (although in my mom's world leopard print was, interestingly, gender neutral). I will see if I can find one to photograph.
A lot of times I didn't get along with my mom. She could be very difficult. But now I can't help often thinking of things like this and things she would have done with her grandchild.

@Temurlang1 - We're having a girl too! I never even thought to make a cute leopard print blanket!! And a pink backing would be totally adorable!! I just don't know how to do edging - I'll see if my mom's friend can help me with that I can't imagine how you feel, whether you get along with your mom or not, I think this is a special bonding moment you know? I didn't always get along with my mom either, but she's been great through the pregnancy so far. Something about it brings you closer I think. I like to do things for others, it's sort of my way of paying it forward I guess? I am a true believer of karma and everything happens for a reason.
See if you can find out what kind of fabric it is too - like a soft fluffy fabric? Or a flannel print? Or cotton, etc. Oh and size would help too.
For DS my mom and I made a pillow for the glider, a fabric kite to hang from the ceiling, and a no-sew crib skirt, all to match his PBK crib set. We are re-using the bedding for this LO. I want to make a new pillow cover with an invisible zipper this time so I can easily wash it. I also want to pretty up some cloth diapers to use as burp cloths, make a couple blankets, and make a fabric bunting to attach behind a wooden biplane that will hang from the ceiling. I want to convert some paper lanterns into hot air balloons tooI'm also getting some great ideas from this post! Some of my inspirations photos are below.
I knitted three blankets within the first month and a half of knowing, just to use up my stash. They all are mostly blue. And it turns out we're team pink. I plan to knit some bibs and hats, really excited to make a pink and white elf hat for her first Christmas!

Blue is a perfectly good colour for boys and girls!

I bought some wonderful feeling fleece, and satin blanket binder for the edges. I'll post a pic when I'm done! I'm also knitting a small lovie blanket, and making a shadow box of things from baby's first concert he could hear from my tummy! I got to take a pic with with headliner (Marc Broussard)! I'm also going to put details from weeks 23.
I've become a baby hat knitting machine since I learned how to use double pointed needles! I also made a rag-rug basket for the lotions, diaper cream, etc on the dresser. I also bought a cute panel to make a blanket out of- it's counting 1-10 in Spanish and French! So cute. I'm trying to back off now, though, because I have a crafty family that's probably very busy behind the scenes now!
I made a quilt and customized some curtains for DD's room. So, I feel like I should do the same for this little guy. I just haven't found an easy pattern that I really like.
I bought a really cute cross stitch kit. My grandma and mom both made them for their babies. Think I bought a really complicated one, just gonna paint something instead!!
I worked on the crib skirt over the weekend and I'm halfway done. I really hope it turns out. I'm making one that uses ribbons to tie to the springs so I can adjust it when we lower the mattress.
I really want to keep this thread alive - please post pics when you finish something! Maybe it will inspire the rest of us
I plan to make a mobile to hang in the negative space next to the crib so LO can see it but it wont be directly above her crib.
Here is my inspiration. I just want to change few things. I dont really care for the way the hoop looks, and the colors will be light pink, violet purple flowers, with different shades of blue butterflies. I also want to add some crystals to it.
@shakewights I used embroidery hoops in 3 different sizes from Michaels. I attached strings to anchor it to the ceiling on the largest on and then just rest the other two on top of the strings and hot glued where the strings met the hoops.

And last week I made her bow hanger that will match her quilt:
I'd love to find a project on which to focus. This thread has given me some ideas.
