Bottles??

Can any second time moms help me out? Which bottle does baby like more tommee tippee, lansinoh(that defiantly is spelled right) avent or any other that you know of?

  • Everyone I know has used Dr. Brown's glass bottles. We're getting those.

  • We ended up with wide mouth Dr Brown's as the favorite but it took trial and error to get there.

  • I really wanted to like Dr Browns but they just didn't work for us. Maybe too many pieces and I didn't want to deal? We used Born Free and liked them, and I might try Tommy Tippee this time. It is hard to know what baby will like, though, so keep your mind open.

  • DS only liked playtex with drop ins and the natural latch nipple. The drop ins reduce air intake, which was a major help. Unfortunately, every baby is different with this so it's a wait and see.
  • I bought a couple different kinds for my baby and she only took the tommee tippee. I had to pump in one bottle and pour it into that one so she would take it. She was super picky on a pacifier too. The one I brought to the hospital she wouldn't take. She only took the MAM brand.
  • With my son we went through 4 or 5 brands before we found one that helped with his reflux and that he would take...we ended up with the Playtex VentAire. This time around I am going to buy a few different brands just a bottle or two so that we are not running out all the time for a different bottle. I would suggest putting a few kinds on your registry then when you find the kind that works best you can stock up.

  • Dd liked dr browns bottles im thinking we will use those again and maybe tommee tippee also

  • We went with Dr. Brown's...but it took us trials with Advent, born free, tommy tippee, to figure that out.

My advice..don't go nuts registering for bottles. Don't buy a huge feedings set. Buy a 3 pack and test them out. Once you find one your LO is comfortable with and will take, then hit up the store. I have no clue why DD as so picky.

  • We used Dr. Brown's and they worked great for his gassiness. We did get a few sample bottles in the mail - avent, born free, so I just tried them all. In the end, Dr. Brown's was the winner for us.

  • We bought Playtex Ventaire (it's the only kind we bought, we didn't give her different brands to try), and they worked for us.  We're planning on using them again with this baby.

  • We went through every brand possible I think and in the end he ended up liking the cheapie even flo that you can buy 3 for 2.87 at Walmart. I should of started cheap and went up, instead I had started with Dr Brown's.
  • I used avent. But the very best thing i ever did was occasionally switch up the brand. If your kid will take different bottles, its the best. I know it gets confusing and messy to match them but the day you forget, or find a rotten one in the bag its so much easier to pick up a random bottle at any store and go.
  • We tried playtex drop ins, avent and medela/'s. DD did the best with avent, those were our favorite! She hardly ever spit up with
    those..
  • I tried dr browns and neither me (too many pieces) or DD liked them, but we loved tommee tippee.

  • I agree with PPs who said dr browns had too many pieces.
All babies are different and like different things so I wouldn't invest a lot in one brand.
With DS we were lucky, he was so easygoing he didn't care what kind of bottle we used. I hope this one is the same but I will have no idea until she is here!
  • Dr. Browns do have a lot of pieces...they're somewhat of a pain but most of ours were cleaned in the dishwasher...but it was literally the only one DD would take..
  • I am going to try Tommee Tippee first. It looks and feels most like my breast. My baby will be breastfed mainly but I also want to pump to give DH feeding times and also to help when we are out and about.

  • my best friend just got done with bottle feeding her quads and she gave me a ton of Dr Brown bottles so i am doing to try those but i might also get a couple others in case she doesn't like the Dr. Browns.  With my DD i used the avent but for me they always leaked:(  No idea why but i would be feeding her and milk would be leaking out of them.  I also did the NUK brand right away with DD since she took to the NUK pacifier so i might try that with this one and then move to the Dr. Browns at a later time
  • Thanks ladies for you help! I really appreciate it! I was seriously going to rack up on tommee tippee this weekend, but now I'll buy a couple different kinds to see what works. Hopefully LO won't be picky!
  • My DS was like the least picky eater. We bought three different types of bottles to try because we heard so many horror stories... he ate out of all them equally and didn't seem to have a preference. Start with the cheap ones and go more expensive :)

  • Dr. Brown's we used with the little girl we have custody of, she wasn't breastfed but did wonderfully with DB didn't try the glass though. It really helped with her spitting up. I'm registering again for those in the Wide Mouth and TT as well for when I express! Good luck :)

  • We used Dr. Brown's. My son tolerated those well. We tried Medela first since that's what came with my pump, but my son didn't like those. This time I really want to try something else...as others have said, the Dr. Brown bottles have a lot of pieces to clean and it gets really tiresome!

We tried drop ins with DD, then some ventair, born free, we finally ended up with Avent. We still have the ones we didn't use with DD so we'll have them to try if needed, but we're just going straight to Avent to begin with. She had the worst gas and spitup with drop ins and ventair. I can't remember what the issue was with the born free ones.

ETA: advent did occasionally leak for us. It was usually an issue with the ring not sitting right. If we took off the top, took the ring out, rinsed it and put it back in it would almost always stop leaking. The instructions say to always wet the ring and base of nipple when putting the bottle together, I think a lot of parents might overlook that.
