  • I'm in desperate need of sleep. I couldn't fall asleep on Sunday until 1130 or so and got woke up a little before 6 with a sick child. Last night I went to bed at 930 and got woken up at 330 to a toddler screaming for me in the hallway. Dear lord please let me sleep peacefully tonight.
  • Is it ok to feel sad that my mom and sister are planning a trip out of the country a couple days before my due date? I'm hoping this baby comes early so they can be there but inside if they are gone when he is born I think I'll be heartbroken. Am I crazy for this?

@mztwilson - WHAT?!?  Yes it's ok to feel sad!  Maybe it's just me, but we told our parents they aren't allowed to leave the state, let alone the country around our due date.  Since we are first timers, I think that's fair.  They can travel any other time of the year.  I also told in-laws who like to travel a lot that they cannot be gone over Christmas this year.  MIL's sister want them to go to Germany with her and her husband.  I told her absolutely not because it's our first baby and it would be her first Christmas.  Aunt and Uncle are free to leave but not grandparents.  And quite frankly, I don't care how I came across to them because that was nothing compared to the shit storm DH would cause if he found out this was even being considered.

On another note, do they HAVE to go then?  Is there some reason that they are going?  Maybe you could mention to your mom how much it would really mean to you if they postpone the trip.  Not sure if this is your first time or not...but you want your mommy there for that kind of special moment.

You are in your right to feel sad and hurt; I don't blame you. What I don't understand is why they would not want to be around for the birth. Is it not important to them?

  • @crhein26 they are going because it's my SIL birthday and she's turning 30 so her aunt is letting her use their vacation rental for 2 weeks. I feel like if they aren't around when he's born I
Not going to reach out to them to let them know either. This isn't my first but it is my last and I wanted it to be special.

@bebemac they are under the impression I'll go before my due date because I always have. Inside I just have this feeling that he's going to stay put until my due date because it's also my dh's birthday. I can't explain it. Mostly because for one dh's birthday is a Friday so we'd spend the weekend in the hospital and it would just be my luck that my mom and sister wouldn't be there.
  • @mztwilson Yikes. Sorry you have to deal with that. Hope everything works out for you all.

@mztwilson - You are NOT...at all!  Don't feel that way!  I might just throw out there to mom that she could be gone for babies birth and would she be ok with that?  Lay a little guilt on her.  :)  I know...I'm horrible, but darn it, my mommy needs to be there to see her grandbaby!!

Nope! Don't feel that way - totally normal in my book.

  • @crhein26 I kind of feel like just saying if your not here when he's born don't expect me to call internationally to let you know he's here.

Thanks @bebemac and crhein26 for reminding me I'm not crazy

    Eta thanks @megk82 also.
  • I know it's totally normal to not feel regular movement until 24 weeks but sometimes that doesn't help the nerves and I'm really hating my anterior placenta right now. 4 weeks between appointments just seems sooo long when you go days without feeling anything.

@mztwilson not crazy at all! And I would feel the same way about not going out of my way to let them know when they chose to go abroad at that time. I hope the timing works out though so you don't even have to think about it.

    Thanks @Mztwilson

And I'll add, I wouldn't be miffed about family leaving around the due date if I was you too. I get where you are coming from.

  • It's my birthday!! Whooo hooo!!! Well and my twins birthday too :)

    @katbrurdette Happy birthday!

@mztwilson not selfish at all! I would be upset as well.

This morning I twisted my ankle walking into work because there was a person with a bird mask on just sitting in the parking lot. I was a little scared to walk by and didn't want to take my eyes off of them. Then I tripped on a wheelchair ramp and twisted my ankle. It's throbbing a bit but at least I can laugh about it now.

  • My little brother is blind and has other developmental delays. He was accepted into a college program that teaches other individuals how to live on their own while taking some college classes to help them find a job.

It starts out as a 2 year thing and they can't continue on if they haven't been job placed by the end of the second year. My brother really wants to be a lawyer so the school has been trying to find him a job for the past two years that he can do and that is in his desired field. As of yesterday he was placed for a job working for a senator at the state house and gets to continue in his program.

I know this is not about me, but I am so proud of him that I want to tell the whole world.
kimberly11511 - I don't know your little bro, but I am incredibly proud of him!  Hearing stories like this make me so happy!

I'm really not liking my anterior placenta either. We saw our little one moving around like crazy 3 weeks ago but it's a little unnerving not to be able to feel it. We had an appointment this morning though and as soon as I heard the heartbeat, I let out a huge sigh of relief! The doctor assured me that soon movement would be unmistakeable :) hope you get the same reassurance soon!

  • @erind228 YES! It was actually more like a bird beak. Went from his forehead out. Still not completely sure what he was doing. Totally bizarre and that's exactly why I tripped.
