So usually I don't squeal with happiness, and I technically didn't, right?, but if I weren't at work I totally would have. Among people who care about punctuation, I've noticed an alarming and passionate anti-Oxford-comma trend.
ETA It's so alarming and so passionate that, for instance, newspaper editors say they'll fire anyone who uses it. DH and I have (seriously nerdy) fun sometimes trying to come up with sentences where the meaning changes depending on that very important comma.
My UO: Since we're on the subject of wedding dresses, I don't understand how any bride (whether you are paying for it or someone else is) buys a $2K+ wedding dress. You are literally in the dress for a matter of hours and I could never justify spending that much $ on a dress. I may get flamed on that one, but eh.
I'm with you! I ended up buying my dress at a bridal consignment shop. I looked it up at the time, and it sold normally for over $12,000 (totally out of my budget) and I bought it on payment plan for $750. I still thought that was expensive, but there was no denying that the dress was the one. It fit perfectly that I didn't need tailoring of any sort. I'm always recommending that shop!
I'll tell you why. I was heavy and felt like shit about myself. I put this dress on and looked amazing in it, felt good it and it made me happy and feel beautiful. It was worth every single cent I spent and I'd do it all over again. I saved big time in other places in my wedding and did not have what even the average is, but my dress looked fucking awesome on me and I didn't spend the entire day feeling like an ugly fat ass (Which is how I felt every other day at that time)
I also thought you meant chocolate, diamonds. I don't actually know what chocolate diamonds are. I'm assuming they're brown diamonds, but I don't care enough to google it and find out.

But could you find some cheap and cute baby bedding for me?

Chocolate diamonds are ugly brown diamonds. They also have black diamonds. I don't get the whole colored diamonds thing.
Congrats to my GP Sister from another mister Bruinsbabe!!

I'd love me a blue diamond. Perhaps I can give this insight. I love colored stones. My engagement ring is actually a Tsavorite Garnet (Green Garnet) They are beautiful and pretty rare. If I hadn't married a titaniumsmith who makes wedding jewlery and gets massive discounts on gems and such, I'd be stuck with an emerald.....which is too soft a stone to wear everyday.
Some people like colored diamonds because they want a hard stone that will hold up to heavy use and still be colored. I don't know. I always wanted a green stone Always. I love my ring.
This is a craptastic picture that was taken with a cellphone like 8 years ago. But I mean love my Tsavorite. And a Tsavorite is pretty much getting a green diamond, almost as hard, and pretty much the same value.
@abcoleslaw That is very pretty. I actually like some colored diamonds, but not da brown ones. Plus, I hate the whole "Women love chocolate, so get them these" premise of the commercial.

thank you It is a bad picture. But I love it. It is one of a kind and my H hand made it so it is special I dont' like chocolate brown diamonds either, but know my sister would cut a bitch for one.

That is gorgeous but honestly, without the story I would assume emerald and go about my day. Also, to go but jewelry if I want colored I would most likely buy an emerald, or a sapphire or whatever color I am wanting. Maybe I'm missing a girl gene too? I also don't care for overly large diamonds.
Congrats to my GP Sister from another mister Bruinsbabe!!
My UO: I generally don't care for newborn photo sessions. I get that you want to have pictures of your kid, but I think some of the more popular "stagings" are weird--baby in a giant basket? Wrapped in some kind of gauze? On the ground in a forest? On top of a typewriter? This is strange to me...
sure sure But I will have a picture of my little girl in her Harry Potter little butt dipe, some glasses and a lightening bolt on top of and next to the entire Harry Potter series. It has to happen. lol.
I want to do that picture so bad! I've got ideas for it on my pinterest I love HP!
(AW) Not a newborn photo, but some of my closest friends and I dressed our LOs up for their first Halloween. EDIT: Replaced the photo with one of just my LO, because I got a little uncomfortable posting pictures of my friends' kids on an open forum that they're not a part of.

Yes i guess the part you missed is that you can't wear an emerald everyday without ruining it. The stone isn't hard enough.
@JCrewgirl85 I had every intention of not spending a ton of money on a dress. But when I went to the lower budget dress stores, I just couldn't justify the cost of the dress for the quality of the materials and construction. My degree is in costume construction, so I think I have too snooty a fabric taste, and I know what a huge difference quality fabric and construction can make in the overall fit and look of a dress. I ended up spending about $2200 on my dress, but I looked at the materials and construction and determined that it was totally worth it. There was no way I'd be able to procure the fabric and spend the time making it and end up with a time/cost number that was less than the cost of the dress. My dad thought I was crazy, but I never regretted spending the money.
@ABColeslaw I was totally planning on ranting about how much I hate the "colored diamonds" advertisements that continually air right now. My husband laughs when I rant at the TV about how nature (and labs) already make colorful stones that don't have the crazy mark-up of diamonds. But your explanation makes complete sense in regards to having color with durability. I still think that chocolate diamonds are pretty ugly, even though brown is my favorite color.
All the UOs I had come up for this week have already been stated by others...so now I'm just distracted by the pretty ring pictures and I want to see everyone's engagement rings.
My UO is I really never heard the terms "totes", "adorbs", "cray- cray" until frequenting this board. I feel so freaking old now. I can't see myself using these words. It just doesn't feel right to me.
I didn't realize I was so old now that I didn't know what the current slang. I am still one to say 80s/90s slang! 80s girl for life!
I always thought these were being used ironically. Making fun of such ridiculous slang.

First, I find the marketing offensive- just becuase you call it chocolate doesn't mean women will like it.
Second, they look like poop. Also with yellow gold it's even worse. The ugliest.
Third, what is the technical difference between a "black diamond" and coal. I don't think there is one.
I love you because all of you said this for me, saving me the effort of a rant.
Didn't realize anyone was serious....?
