I have my 20 week appt at 230 est. It'll be a typical 5 minute appointment but I am excited because H will be there and it'll be his first time hearing the heart beat. I am not excited about weighing in.
Baby is healthy!! The sonogram lady took 10 min for our whole appt and the baby's legs were crossed and couldn't tell the gender. I wish she would have worked with me a little more and have me move. Irrationally upset that we don't know the gender. How long was everyone's appt? I wish she took a little longer with me.
@purplegem11 I had mine yesterday and it was about 45 min. for the ultrasound part. It's too bad they went through yours so quickly. Congrats to you for your healthy LO!
A/S day for me today! It's at 8 am, so in one hour. We are very hopeful that her heart will look good (after a scare with a high heart rate at my last appointment) and that my placenta will have moved. Along with of course that everything else looks good on baby girl.
@lizardbreath14 yes!! Then she tells me if I really want to know the gender she can do a "fun" one for $50! Um no thanks my insurance already sucks and I have to pay $150 for this one that took 10 min thank you very much.
At MFM now, waiting for my 10:00 appointment for my monthly growth scan. At our a/s, baby was measuring about a week ahead, so given the two different reasons they check me regularly for growth, I hope we are still ahead. If she's a little smaller I might start to worry about impacts of my bp or the cord issues.
I'm in a happy mood so I'm just going to describe the good morning I had.
This morning H and I got up an hour early. We dropped off little Dewey at doggy daycare, and my H got to see where his new daycare is and tour the place. Then we went to this amazing little breakfast place called Butter which is right by the Hospital. We had an awesome sit down breakfast and it was really quiet and relaxing and I had a delicious breakfast sandwich. We went to our anatomy scan and got to see the LO. The LO was completely balled up with legs and arms up above the head, and LO yawned right at us and it was pretty cute. Then we went to my monthly appt and H got to meet my doctor. Both were short and sweet. Now I'm at work.
I just put a call in to a bakery right near my place and ordered 25 cupcakes with PINK in the center! Party is on Sunday. H and I are happy and not surprised at all, we *knew* it was a girl and he bought me a pink "I got it from my mama" onesie for my bday January 8 (for the baby, not for me). We will find out the results of the ultrasound once the Dr. has time to review, but so far I have no reason to worry! HR 150 and spina bifida results were normal.
@purplegem11 I'm sorry, I would be disappointed too, and the fact that she followed it up with a more $ we can do another is questionable to me. I'm also kind of surprised she could get everything else measured in 10 minutes.Your baby must have been super cooperative. We found out the sex in a few minutes but several other measurements took some time...we were there over an hour.
@scsikos yes that's what I thought? I was going in expecting a 45 min appt. I'm going to call and say something to the OB. Just checking to see if I was wrong about it only being 10 min.
Baby girl is healthy and mama has a bacterial infection. So fun. Antibiotics for a week and back on Monday for my butt stab. I should just move to this place since im always here anyway
wanted to click "love it" for healthy baby girl but I can't "love" your infection or your impending weekly butt stab. Yay for baby girl! Hugs for you!
Oh, I can totally love a butt stab. But a different kind. I kid, I kid!
9:50am PST, fetal echocardiogram. Hoping for good news. Prayers appreciated!
Had that a couple of weeks ago - I hope they are able to get all the images they need. Is this because of the DS scare? I hope you get good news that everything is just fine.
Everything appeared to be healthy and on track (according to the tech). Our OB was out delivering a new squishy so we didn't get to meet with her to be sure. The tech made me feel a little better by telling me that he didn't notice anything alarming.

@purplegem, sorry your scan wasn't the experience you were hoping for, it sounds like you got a little screwed. Mine was also much longer than 10min. Congrats on a healthy baby though! Hopefully he/she will cooperate next time.
Fetal echo went great! Of course, Isaiah was moving everywhere and it took some patience to get all of the images. But everything looks great, and the cardiologist said he saw nothing of concern! Hallelujah!

AWESOME! So glad to hear it. I love the name Isaiah!
We had our a/s this morning for LO #2. Team BLUE! I'm so excited! Baby boy looks very healthy. It was a little weird though, when she went to look at the cervix with the ultrasound, she said I was having a contraction? I couldn't feel anything- was this like a Braxton-hicks contraction or something? She looked later and said the cervix looked fine/long.
@purplegem11 I'm so sorry you had to deal with that! When I had mine yesterday she spent 45 minutes before she even let DH over to look at the baby. And she even tried to get the baby to move so she could get a "sure fire money shot" to guarantee the gender. Luckily she was able to get a good enough shot to say it was a girl. I feel like 10 minutes is way too short to get all the detailed measurements. I think calling the OB is a good idea and maybe even the ultrasound place (if its a different place).
@purplegem11, I hope you decide to call your OB's office. There is no way that they could get all the measurements needed at an A/S in just 10 minutes. They typically schedule it to take 30-45 minutes, depending on if the baby cooperates or not. Maybe if you call your doc's office, they will reschedule another ultrasound for you. That totally sucks though, and I'm really sorry it wasn't a pleasant appt.
@MegK, glad the results are reassuring so far. Hopefully the event monitor will pick up an episode. It takes a while to get results back from that test (at least it is for me, I turned it in a week ago and still haven't heard anything). Just a tid bit to throw your way in case you have sensitive skin; ask for the hypoallergenic electrodes. I used regular at first and broke out in a wicked rash... I now have scars on 3 sections of my chest!
Our a/s was great! Viviana was reasonably still (after a night of both of us being up a million times) and they got all of their measurements pretty quickly. We loved watching her, and she loved having her hands and sometimes her feet right up by her face Her heart looked good, except it had a spot on it. The doctor said the spot can indicate a higher risk of Down Syndrome, but because we already did the MaterniT21 test we don't have to worry about that, which makes me so glad that we chose to do it. Everything else looked perfect. And my placenta has moved, so no more placenta previa! No more bleeds, cramping, worry, and I can be off pelvic rest The tech did a great job explaining everything she was looking at, and then the doctor came in to go over the results with us. While the doctor was talking, she played around with the 3D ultrasound, so we got a picture from that

Got a couple of cute photos, including a pig-nose creepy 4d shot (I'll spare you that).
