AW - I just got adopted!!!

So this is a total AW post, and I'm sorry, but I just had to share my goods news with the world!

My bio mom and bio father got divorced when I was less than 2.  They were 18 at the time.  My bio mom married step-dad when I was 3 or 4.  I love and adore him and he has been my "dad" ever since I can remember.  I did have contact with my bio dad up until I was about 27 or so, but for reasons that are too long to really get into (he's a narcissistic emotionally abusive a**), I've stopped talking to him.  My step-dad has gone to Afghanistan and Kuwait in the last few years (he's Army) and the military always gives him a hard time about having my name on anything, because technically I wasn't "related".  

Well, today we finally made it official!  Went in front of the family court judge here at the local courthouse and my step-dad is now officially my dad!  I'm so excited.  Of course, I started tearing up and had to basically push him and my mom out of the courthouse so that I wouldn't start ugly crying.  Mom told me when they got back home that Dad went up to Brodie (their dog) and said "Colleen is officially your sister now."  And then I did start ugly crying.  

Anyways, thanks for reading.  Just had to share!  

TL;DR - My step-dad adopted me today.  :)
