Well, today we finally made it official!  Went in front of the family court judge here at the local courthouse and my step-dad is now officially my dad!  I'm so excited.  Of course, I started tearing up and had to basically push him and my mom out of the courthouse so that I wouldn't start ugly crying.  Mom told me when they got back home that Dad went up to Brodie (their dog) and said "Colleen is officially your sister now."  And then I did start ugly crying.  

Anyways, thanks for reading.  Just had to share!  

TL;DR - My step-dad adopted me today.  

This is amazing news! My dad couldn't adopt me until I was 18 b/c even though I hadn't had contact with my bio father since I was 4, he had to give permission for the adoption since he was alive and I was a minor. Since my bio father is an asshole that treats his wife and all his kids like property, that never happened. But the month after I turned 18 we went to court and made it official - that was the happiest day of my life CONGRATULATIONS. It really does feel great!
