I was just reading the sticky at the top with people discussing their actual babies' names when I realized this would be an interesting thread. What name do you love that is just now suddenly way too popular?
For me it's Jackson.
I've always loved it but apparently so does everyone else... It makes me wonder... Do people of similar generations secretly all have the same names in mind for future kids or do people just steal it when they hear a good one? I'm so surprised at how many names I've always had in mind that everyone is using!

Jack/Jackson is similar for me. It's my father's name and I always wanted to use it, but then it because popular and it just makes it seem not as special anymore. Like it would just be another person liking the name fad instead of it being passed down.
Edit: The post reads with two "popular" and when I go to edit, there is only one typed out. The bump is messing with me.
Jacob. I've loved that name forever, but it's way too popular for me. I like weird hippie unique names. But Jacob is just adorable to me.

Jackson was my top choice for a boy name with my first pregnancy until I realized how popular it was. DH wasn't a fan either.
I love Harper, Charlotte, and Scarlett for a girl right now. I know they're popular, but I've don't think I care this time. They don't seem to be popular in my area. I work in a school and I'll put names into the database to see how many of them there are in my district and these are not popular. There are also none of these in DS's daycare. I also don't know of any friends who have used these names.
My first name is the number 1 name for my birth year and it bothered me a little in school. As an adult, its not a big deal anymore. I'm sure its associated with the time period, but that really has no impact on my life.
I have loved Emma since I was about 12 and read Emma by Jane Austen. I would happily use it, but DH doesn't like it. In fact if he liked it I would be naming this baby Emma Rose if it is a girl. If it weren't for the fact that one of my best friends already has a Sophia that would be a top contender as well.
Lily is becoming popular, but I am ok with that.
Honestly, I am a Sarah Elizabeth and the popularity of my name has in no way whatsoever affected me. Probably why I won't jump on the generation younique bandwagon.
Katherine called Kate has been our top pic for a girl forever but we now know 4 versions of that name used amongst our extended friend group over the past several months. Both of our grandmothers are named Matilda - I mean, what are the odds?! Both also called Mattie but that's entirely too trendy now. I also like Olivia and Charlotte like a lot of you but they are so widely popular across the whole map now.
Harper... Mostly because I'm Heather, SIL is Hailey and MIL mixes us up ALL THE TIME. She even sent out a Xmas letter saying Mark (BIL) was marrying Heather... Oh and Mister is Michael.
So we have Mike + Heather and Mark + Hailey
Harper would BLOW HER MIND.

The other is Jacob, I had that name picked out since I was a little kid. Unfortunately its not just the popularity but its connection with Twilight. Who knows if that would even matter by the time they were older but I would feel awful if people made that connection or teased him about it.

When I was pregnant with Oliver, every time I mentioned his name, I would either be told it was a very unusual name or told they thought it was a very old name. Now it seems everyone knows an Oliver.
Oh, and that person who said they would "scream" if they saw another child being named Scarlett... get to it.
