@Soleil3 I was WK for @rfrazier611 not because she can't defend herself but because it was/is a prime example of my UO.
Not sure what you mean by your "let's make USA a whore" statement. If you mean that all US citizens should blindly follow all laws and never question the government then I have to disagree with you.
I also disagree that disagreeing and questioning the government is "anti-patriotic garbage." Indeed I think the courage to question and and petition the government for a redress of grievances, shall we say, is about as patriotic as it gets. One thing about loving ones country is that our love should never be blind. We should be proud of the progress we have made and continue to question in order that we may progress.
I am curious on your stance of responsibility to follow the law. I would argue that sometimes it is our responsibility to not follow the law. Is not an act of civil disobedience sometimes the necessary and right course of action?
I am not saying this to make the claim that smoking pot is any way comparable to fighting for a civil rights cause. Far from it. Rather I am curious as to whether your view on following the law carries over to any and all laws, regardless of the content.
@V&G you said "Until you use your right to vote, then don't complain to me". That was where my hypothesis arose.
You also said "you appear to be VERY anti government - so uh... maybe you should just leave the great U S of A?"
This implies you feel @rfrazier611 has less of a right to live in the US. (Though if she is anti-government not sure what country you propose as appropriate).
Sorry. I am not familiar with nyan cat.
I did re-read what you said. It comes off as an attempt to win your argument by process of devaluation of @rfrazier611 via implication she is anti-government, un-American, and doesn't vote. What she actually said is she doesn't believe in government involvement on personal freedoms that don't infringe on another person's rights.
If I mistook you, I apologize but really don't see the point of bringing it up at all, otherwise.
Re: US is a whore comment. It was tongue in cheek. Nothing that serious.
As for the rest of your blurb, I've never said otherwise. Disagree, petition and question all you want. Thats how change is made right?
But too many negatives will make you seem against our government, and how you say things matter. For example: My government has the right to make decisions because I gave them that right when I voted. If I don't agree with the decision it made, I can write and petition and do whatever to get my voice heard. I think it is important that civil liberties are individual from the overall government. I also believe pot should be legalized along with the separation of government rule from individual decision.
Does that read negative?
Besides all of that, I'm not talking politics or government, I'm talking about law abiding and the consequences of not.
As for me, I follow all the ones that in breaking, would end me up in jail or prison. I'm selfish like that.
I have never smoked pot and I have no desire to. I don't care for alcohol, either, or mind altering substances. They just aren't my thing. However, my H has smoked in the past. I asked him to stop because it was putting our family at risk (he's a teacher, it's illegal). He stopped, hasn't done it sense. Is it good, bad, indifferent?? I don't really care for myself. However, it is illegal, so the risk seems silly to me.
I am Methodist and very active in my church. I love my church and my Christian upbringing. Maybe that's a UO here, but religion has made my life better and taught me how to try to live more like Jesus. Anything more than that is just a human element that I consider beyond my concern.
My UO: I can't stand when people in jobs servicing the public have nasty fingernails. The lady that dispensed my rx at Kroger today had nails like she'd been gardening all day. Mine aren't exactly magazine worthy, but at least they are clean.
Another one: I get so turned off by blatant nasty. Disagreeing is one thing, but when things get dirty, it just doesn't seem worth it to me. A lot of times I stop reading threads because the drama isn't even entertaining- it's hard to watch.
Married DH : 7/7/12; 3 fur babies (2 dogs and 1 cat) DS born 9/3/13; DD born 7/22/15; LO due 5/28/18 FS (age 5) and FD (age 2) to become AS/AD very soon!

Just curious where have you seen this lately? I'm ginuenly curious because I haven't seen much "nasty snark" in a while.

Actually- this board is kind of boring. It has mostly been on other boards.
ETA: words are hard.

Imma kick this dead horse and put my 2 cents in...
I knew a guy that was big into conspiracy theories. He said during prohibition, the government went to the mob and said 2 of the 3 can be legal: booze, cigs, or pot. The mob picked booze and cigs. So that's why pot is illegal.
Prob not true, but it sounds cool.
OMG, you know my Dad? Lol. That seriously sounds like something He would say. The man is convinced that the neighbors, who happen to have a cell tower on their property, are listening in on his phone calls. I keep telling him he's really not that interesting. He doesn't believe me.
@Soleil3 that is all fine and dandy but not exactly what I was asking. I sure don't disagree with voting and petitioning and I never said I did. Maybe it is pointless but I have to point out that law and consequence is inseparable from government and politics.
Ok ill go! I think people who smoke weed/ do any drugs as adults are stupid and immature! Particularly those with children.
I've already said this on a pot debate, but my husband smokes pot. He has a joint most nights. That doesn't make him stupid and immature, unless you think it's stupid and immature to have a glass of wine each night. He's a responsible person and a wonderful father. His smoking pot doesn't change that in the least. You aren't automatically an idiot just b/c you use marijuana. Maybe that's my UO. There are many intelligent, successful and responsible people who smoke pot.
I agree...my dh smokes pot...my father will smoke now and then...my boss smokes...my bosses boss smokes. Yes smoking can help calm you down after a long stressful day. And yes I agree I prefer that to popping a prescription pill that is full of chemicals...what you do in the privacy of your own home is no ones business. Legal or not. One day weed will be legal everywhere and this point will be moot. Irresponsible to smoke weed? Hell no not in a safe environment with adults. But to each their own.
Pot is a chemical too. It is also a crutch if you use it to calm down. There are other ways to relax and unwind. Excersize, yoga a bath. Why do we have to turn to any substance to relax?
I came here to read all of orlaiths stupid comments and I can't get past how phonetically you spelled exercise.
If we're down to arguing HOW I said something rather than what I said, I am satisfied. Again, negative comments about a thing do not make you anti-thing. I also said exactly what I mean in direct, concise language that is difficult to twist or misinterpret (though I applaud the efforts) because that is how we researchers roll.
That was exhilarating and awesome. Can't wait for today's FFFC!

These are good to start. They are instant, flavored coffees. It's got some coffee taste but you can add as much or as little as you like. You can add a hot chocolate base too.
I love coffee so much, but it's not for everyone. These are the least "hardcore" instant coffees that have worked for the non-coffee drinkers who visit me. Good luck & happy cups!

I can't find a place to put this. I think we need some frowns turned upside down so I'm going to stick it here.
I think you missed the point of my "blurb".
goodnight.
