My UO: I don't think it's a cardinal sin to feel bad for someone's husband and children.

There are some majorly selfish losers on TB and I do find myself feeling badly for their family sometimes.

I think it comes down to preference. I had mentioned earlier, previously worn clothing can be stretched out, etc. due to how the last child wore it, so it may not fit how you would like it to fit. If you buy it new, no one else has worn it, so you do not have to worry about if it has been stretched out or not. Again, if that works for you, that is great. Obviously, I am very finicky with clothing and prefer it to be new and not have to worry about if it was stretched or previously worn, etc.

When I think of "hand me downs," I did not think of consignment shops. My mind went straight to a friend or family member giving clothing, regardless of the condition. So, sometimes it could be faded, stretched, etc. Another thing too is that not everybody has the same taste in clothing. What one person likes for their child another may not. So what ever hand me down you receive may just be full of stuff you just do not care for, then you are stuck.

I said I like certain brands and stores and do not like others. I said nothing about designer. Gymboree is not designer. Janie and Jack, not designer. Circo and Cherokee, not designer. Koala Kids, not designer, etc. So if I DID say something about "having" to put my kids in "designer" clothing, please show me where. Nowhere did I say I "had" to dress my children in Burberry, Marc Jacobs, Kenneth Cole, etc.

I do not live there so I don't know. What I DO know is based upon where I had worked, there was a growing demand for it and still is and I have also noticed where I currently live the demand is also high. Just because the demand is high does not mean every single place in the country is going to want it. Some places love tru religion or 7 for all mankind, but you go somewhere else, and people are wearing something else. That does not necessarily mean nobody wants it, It just means that particular area doesn't wear it as much or that particular area has a higher demand for other stuff.

I never said I judge them because I don't. I already said I was a clothes snob, which is why I will not put them in just anything. You can be a snob about something and not judge other people for it. So I do not quite understand what you are trying to prove when I have stated it was personal preference.

Thank you for the spelling correction. I do not wear much true religion because usually their stuff does not fit me, however, there is still no excuse for the error. LOL.

Thanks for that, however, a definition does not equal someone's personal reality. I do not dislike anyone nor do I dislike certain activities just because a "lower class" person does them. I am a snob about it because there are certain places I just will not venture due to I never shop there, do not like the store at all, or I do not like the quality of the clothing or how it is made. That is a snob. It has NOTHING to do with looking down on people. CFox said her son was in a onesie and sweatpants. Guess what? Burberry has onesies, I don't buy those. Carters, Gymboree, etc has onesies, which are brands I do buy. So how can someone look down on someone because their child has a onesie and sweatpants on, when there are tons of brands that have these exact things? The type of clothing has nothing to do with it, it is the brand and certain quality of certain brands I do not like.

That's great, I am glad it does. FYI I never said I did not like Target. So again, your point? I am glad your hand me downs fit though. Not everybody is as lucky due to stretch, shrinkage, etc.

I don't consider what I said back pedaling. from the get go I talked about personal preference. I do not judge people just bc they have a different taste in clothing. lol. For those who are all "ILOVESEAWORLD!" I need to know how and why you can support a place that has knowingly allowed a dangerous animal to kill multiple people and STEALS babies? How would you like if I cornered you in the hood and stole your baby and then made it sleep in a metal crate and do tricks for me all day and if it didn't do it right I'd starve it?

I also hate the circus.

Marlena lives in hand me downs from friends. The clothes are in near perfect condition because their babies only wore it for like a month and I have pregnant friends who will be getting the clothes from me, so they'll be twice handed down and are still near perfect. I also enjoy hand me downs, "Oh you don't like this anymore or it doesn't fit? Fuck yes I'll take it. FREE MOTHAFUCKKKKKKAAAA!" Most of my maternity clothes were HMDs as well. I also LOVE Platos closet. NO FUCKING SHAME! I'll also take your leftover food, thanks bitch.

I have an UO (don't hurt me @cfox815) I think expensive purses are kind of stupid. My husband got me a Fossil purse for my birthday a few years ago (it was 75$ and to me that is a lot of money) and I love it. I love it because it has birds in cages... I like birds. If the purse was from KMart I still would have been stoked on it because I like birds.

My OP: I don't have a problem with elementary schools taking part in programs like Feed My Starving Children. I don't care that it is a religious organization. When I volunteered with my cousin once, not one time did I hear about how amazeballs Jesus is. The kids are volunteering for an organization that feeds people and they get to feel good about themselves for helping others?! PERFECT. Where do I sign my 10 week old baby up?

This isn't an UO (I'll try to think of one, but, dang, I'm boring) but a question: How, exactly, do baby clothes get "stretched out of shape"? What the heck are you and your babies doing with these clothes? If I find that I'm having to stretch clothes to put them on our baby, I figure they're too small!

Of course, most of her clothes are consignment or hand-me-downs (some from when my DH was a kid!), so I'm obviously not a connoisseur of baby clothes. If they cover her up and don't annoy me, and they're clean, she'll wear them.

UO the second: I find it weird when people refer to baby boys as "little man." We don't call baby girls "little woman," so what's up with that?

If you thought I "look down upon" certain brands I apologize if it came across that way. I do not think highly of certain stores because I do not think they have very good products and a lot of it comes from I never shopped there or was shopped for there growing up. To answer your question most of their stuff is Gymboree, Janie and Jack, Ralph Lauren, Juicy Couture (for my daughter), Carters and Koala Kids/Baby and brands that Nordstrom carries. I got a few things in there from Target that I find now and then. Circo or Cherokee Brand. Usually if my parents send them clothes we get a lot of Baby Gap, Ralph Lauren and Gymboree.

Honestly I have tons of CK, Ralph Lauren, Quicksilver, and. Janie and Jack stuff besides just Carter's and stuff from Target and there's no discernable difference in quality. And even if there were, It's not like the clothes are going to be worn for any length of time since he's growing so quickly. I guess I just don't understand why you would care when everything is going to be covered in shit, piss, snot, drool, and vomit.

I have said it before and will say it again it comes down to personal preference and the the "look" that you like or what you are used to. My daughter does not really vomit, drool or having a runny nose that much and rarely does she have diaper blowouts. My son has not done much of this yet but he is still young. I just migrate towards certain brands. I do not see why that is a bad thing as everyone has different tastes.

I actually notice that Ralph Lauren holds up and washes better than stuff I have gotten at Target. I do not like CK because it has fit both of my kids funny. Sizing in Target is weird too because a lot of their stuff goes from 12-18 months straight to 2T. I forgot about Guess and OshKosh, those are good quality as well. Janie and Jack stuff fits them well also. Which of them do you like best?

My child wears only hand me downs :-) I buy them on purpose. The only new items were gifts from other people... Also, a lot of the hand me downs still have tags.

I can't wrap my brain around caring what brand a baby wears - I also don't think that it's fair that my kid be better dressed than me.

My UO is that I think sleep training is a bit of a waste of time (for our family). Just let the baby sleep when she is tired, I have so many friends who are OBSESSED with sleep training and all I see it doing is stressing them and the baby out. I just don't get it. Is it worth the tears for your baby to sleep at specific times vs. when they're tired if you keep with a routine? We have a routine, we just don't stick to a time table. Astin sleeps just fine through the night... I find it unnatural. (Sleep training)

I just don't get the hand me down hate. My kid has some 4th generation hand me downs. Some of her clothes went from DD1, my oldest niece, and my youngest niece before her. Which means it was probably worn 3-6 times before she wore it.

She also has red hair.

It is just personal preference for me as an individual. That's why it is an UO. If other people want to do it, that has nothing to do with me so it does not bother me. Does it happen a lot where you receive them and they do not fit her because she is built differently?

I get that different brands fit somewhat differently but I don't see how something would fit differently just because it was worn before. They're kids. If something doesn't fit them, it's because it's the wrong size. I don't know about you, but the hand me downs I've received haven't been from people who have had custom clothes made just for their kid.
