Re: UO

  • ooooh, here's one i know will rile up a few ladies here!

disney is for children.  adults who go for an adult vacation creep me out.  the magic kingdom is not a grown up destination, C'MON!!

and another one...  i'm on a roll now!!

super over-themed or matchy nurseries are so very unappealing.

    let's just keep on going.....

i don't care how "not drunk" you are after putting back a few...  you are still an asshole if you get behind a wheel after a night of drinking no matter how safe you personally feel.  don't do it, ever.  EVER.

I have no idea why adults go tot Disney land/world/cruises w/o kids. TOTALLY weirds me out too.

I'll have to disagree with you on this one.

Deep fried banana stuffed french toast > french toast > waffles > pancakes.

Now I need to dig up my recipe for that french toast... Maybe DH will let me make it for dinner tomorrow?

  • We went to Disney last year and I was SO excited...  Whomp whomp.  It stunk.  I'm not there to buy myself Mickey ears and wait for 30 minutes to ride a slow moving boat with creepy characters in different scenes.  PS: do you know how many "rides" are seriously just that?!  It's ridiculous.

Anyways, I do look forward to bringing a kid because they are in love with it all and so excited...  I could watch kids at Disney all day long.
  • I plan on never giving my child maple syrup, hoping they will never want it.  I hate the smell, I hate the sticky fingers and face---and well I just actually despise pancakes in general. Family breakfasts at my house will be egg burritos and breakfast sandwiches--- and occasionally cold pizza.

Not super controversial- but something I am very passionate about.

This might actually be illegal in Canada. And for reals, if any of you are eating that blasphemous fake 'syrup' in plastic bottles I've seen in the US, that's disgusting. Have a taste of some real, pure Canadian maple syrup and tell me that's not an orgasm in your mouth. Mmmm
DH's family is from New Brunswick, so fake syrup is totally not allowed. Every time they go they bring back maple syrup and, my personal fave, maple butter.... yummmmm....

Ugh I SO agree with this. I think it is so weird! Or when people say their new puppy is preparing them for what it's like to have a baby bc it wakes them up to go outside early in the morning or the middle of the night or whatever. Um, no. Just... no. Having a puppy is not like having a baby. at all.
I totally tell our dog, DC, that she's going to have a little sister. That said, I don't actually think she's a human... Obviously people don't think they're actually like siblings.  :-S

I am banning everything from Aunt Jemima to the real deal maple syrup..... ewww and my husband recently bought maple bacon....I gagged every time I woke up to that cooking. So that too is not allowed!! :)

---------- Mmmm. Maple anything! My family still lives in Québec and my favourite part of visiting in the winter is maple taffy (Tire d'érable in French). For those who aren't familiar, you pour boiled maple sap right on a stick over ice. It semi-freezes it and you eat it like a melty maple Popsicle. Amazeballs.
I want that.  Maybe I'll go home and heat up some maple syrup and do that with the snow outside?

Also, DH hates maple syrup.  I have a bottle in the fridge for me, and he sticks with Mrs. Butterworth.  Fine with me - I don't have to share!

dani+california My MIL actually prefers the fake Aunt Jemima crap to real maple syrup.  It boggles my mind.  I can't even understand it at all.  We buy a year's supply of maple syrup from a maple syrup farm every year and we love it!

I guess to throw in my UO....I can't stand television in general, unless it's a sporting event. I am a fan of all sports, that's my "reality" tv, since the other BS that is advertised as "reality" is really just crap television that so many people feed off of. Can't. Stand. It. At. All.

Yep.  SIL's husband taught that word to their daughter, who will be two in a couple months.  She is still breastfeeding (no opinion one way or another there), but she now has an almost two-year-old running around in public yelling that she wants "titties" all the time - and MIL thinks it's hilarious.

DH has been threatened with his life if he ever introduces that word into our house (not that he ever uses it, so we should be ok).

  • I have a couple of Facebook friends that are each "friends" with several terminally ill toddlers. I don't understand following the health updates of dying children that you have never met and don't know anybody in their family.

It a bit different when you are giving "likes" to cheer up a 10 year old having another round of chemo. They understand social media. An 18 month old's picture looking terrible after an invasive medical procedure? Why would the parents put that out there? Why not simply post "please pray for baby girl that her levels increase"?
  • I love yard sales and hate mint in anything but gum and toothpaste.
  • I hate that all the Super Bowl commercials come out now before the Super Bowl.  I like football, and will watch the game for the game and not the commercials, but dammit, the commercials make it so much more fun!

I hate cartoons all together.  Animated movies are okay, and when I watch them I usually like them, but I've never purchased/watched one on purpose (without someone else asking me to watch with them).  This is going to suck for my child.

I hate when grown adults have obsessions with childish things.  My MIL has a serious love for Tinkerbell.  Dear Jesus, please let my baby girl avoid getting any Disney or Tinkerbell related items from grandma.  Or another friend obsessed with Hello Kitty.  C'mon people.

I LOVE SNOW!  I just shoveled and it was lovely.  Here's my back yard this morning...it's beautiful and makes me happy inside:

  • I love Disney. More so Epcot for myself because it is definitely more for adults and magic/animal kingdom for DD. However, XH's family lives in orlando and can get in for free so she goes almost every time she visits them. I secretly hate them for taking that away from me because now we will never get to do a surprise disney trip for the kids. Oh well, we will take them somewhere cooler.

I'm a cat person. As much as I try, I cannot form a connection with any dogs. I like mine but I would much prefer a cat that just lounges around. I definitely agree that animals are not more important than people.

UO: I think everyone should tip the baggers at the commissary. That's all they work for and I find it selfish if you don't. As well as pizza delivery guys.

I love my dog more than most people. I have a hard time imagining when the baby gets here because I can't picture loving him any less or him being any less important in our lives. We are pretty much obsessed with the dog and our free time revolves around him.

Us too! We have 2 dogs and they are our lives!

Real syrup is awesome- the other crap is just that, crap. We absolutely use real names for genitalia. People>Animals I think gaming is great. Being outside or playing with toys is better. My UO: the FB and twitter age has given people the idea that its okay to say horribly offensive and disrespectful things to the President of the United States. No matter if you agree with the office or not that position deserves respect. I immediately assume you are an uneducated asshole if you start talking out of your ass insulting the President. Dont agree with him, fine-awesome- whatever. But know your shit well enough to civilly discuss why that is.

Yes. In fact most of them were thrilled when I got a dog because, to them, it meant I was prepping to have a baby. I disagree, but I'm also a FTM. So I thought I'd bring in the opinions of my mom friends of three or four for credibility. ;)

ETA: I have a friend - self-proclaimed Boy Mom - who regularly compares her boys to caring for puppies and/or dogs. And she's not a dog owner. She just gets that there are lots of (humorous) similarities between a kindergarten boy and a puppy.
