Re: Opinions of the Unpopular kind...

  • Anyone who wanted to see S2bh's picture can by requesting to follow her.

    anyone who wants to see whatever picture is being discussed can by requesting to join the FB group.

    It's the same to me.

    It's more the same to me then. S2BH wasn't always private, that's why I thought it was different. I thought her IG was public.

    I think because the majority of us know/knew the stories and the history, it seemed more "out" than this photo. Maybe? IDK.

    Apparently we're going to talk about Atlanta some more.

    Atlanta rocks. We aren't used to snow.

    The amusement ride pic scared the crap out of me. No way, no how.

    FF? AAP suggests 2 for a reason. We should all do what is best to protect our children.

    New subject?

    I had no idea what this was.  I was envisioning a colon-type cleanse where you drink oils.

    That being said, my skin has been so insanely dry (shakes fist at polar vortex), and when my skin is dry, it breaks out. I started using Jose Maran Argon Oil in lieu of my regular moisturizer...and it is so much better.

    We chose to FF at 1 year.

    Also, it took me too long to realize FF meant forward facing, not formula fed.

    Because of the seat my s12-er had to be in for logistics of four car seats in a van (behind the driver), if we rear faced her, DH would never been able to fit in the driver's seat.

    After last weeks Oreo talk, I bought a package of double stuff that had regular Oreo on one side and Golden on the other. Golden side definitely won. In fact, I threw most of them away because I didn't want to keep eating cookies I didn't like.

    Also, I don't like Beyoncé. Her music does nothing for me, and I'm not at all star struck by her. Also, celebrities that act like she is God bug me. Anna Kendrick, I'm talking about you. The annoying sister from Downton says she asks herself "What Would Beyoncé Do?" Really?!

    Not a fan. But I don't like a lot of shorts, so it could be a personal bias.

  • I don't like that they make short shorts for plus size women.  I get that there are some plus sized women out there with nice legs, but I just think it is weird and it bothers me.  I can't do bermuda shorts because my legs are too long.  Like literally they just look like tight in between shorts instead of bermudas because my thighs are so long.

    Yeah. Bedrooms are for sleeping.  Not roaming around freely and getting up in the middle of the night to play with toys.
    They aren't supposed to be getting up in the middle of the night to roam, they are supposed to be in there bed :) Plus, in those bedrooms, they have little to no toys or other objects lying around to play with. It's certainly not for everyone, but I see no harm in giving it a shot when you think your child is ready. We'll try it around 2.5 years old.

    We don't keep toys in the bedroom and with the exception of James' dresser I would say his room meets this criteria. He has no tall shelves. His books are in bins on the floor as well as some stuffed animals. I still kept him in his crib until almost 3.

  • I don't like it when mothers wear string bikinis. I know, freedom and feminism and all that, but it's just NMS. A nice two piece? Sure. A string bikini that leaves nothing to the imagination? I don't know. It's just not for me. Plus my kid would yank it off.

    Then again, I also applaud women with post baby bodies who have confidence to strut their stuff. So I guess I'm a hypocrite.

    I read Mrs.Jenni's blog and generally enjoy it, but every time she calls her baby "homegirl" I want to throat punch someone.

    *STUCK*

    I think if you intend to have a popular blog, you should know basic grammar and be sure to follow it. I enjoy her blog, but her writing sometimes makes me roll my eyes. Than vs. then - things like that.
    I think entirely too many people have blogs, and many of them don't have much of interest to share, let alone good writing skills to make it an enjoyable read.
    I was just telling DH this last night. Unless you have something you are truly gifted at that you are blogging about - photographer, designer, home schooling, comedy... I don't care about some strangers every day life with their family.

  • I think the shorts do look kind of mom-ish. I prefer Bermuda. I judge FF at 12mo, but 17mo (now) doesn't bother me as much. I think IV's comment was rude and it rubbed me the wrong way. I respect your opinion, but I can't take the mocking seriously. I'm over reading/talking about Atlanta. And Oreos. Oreos are gross. I have nothing else to add. I'm grumpy.
    I thought the shorts were kinda cute but they definitely looked mom-ish to me too.

    Should moms dress differently than other women the same age without children, or are you just against string bikinis in general?

    Regarding toddler beds...

    I'm considering it for Hannah.  Mostly because I feel like she's at an age where she is completely exhausted when we put her down.  The girl literally passes out within minutes.  It seems like it might be easier to approach this transition now, than when she's 3, and more aware of "omg I can get out of bed and do all the things."
    We transitioned DD1 around 21 months to prepare for DD2 coming. She was fine. She never got out of bed, even in the morning when she woke up. She would just lay there until we came to get her. Once she turned about 2.5-3? She realized she could get out of bed and play. Once she was potty-trained it was worse because she found a new way to stall.
    I was just talking/complaining about this yesterday. James figured out last week that the only way I will go in his room in the middle of the night is if he says he has to go potty.

    See, this is where I know I am a hypocrite, because, to answer your question - no, moms shouldn't have to dress differently.
    There was just something about becoming a mother that changed my opinion about it for some reason. I feel like my entire opinion about my body changed, ya know? Before, a bikini for me was about looking sexy. And now, I'm not as interested in giving off that vibe.

    I used to wear bikinis. The last time I wore one I was one vacation with my parents and in-laws and I felt a little weird being in that little amount of clothing in front of my FIL and my dad. So maybe I just have issues.

  • FWIW, knowing that she was in a harness (that you can't really see in the pic) changes it for me.

    There was another harness besides the adult sized one?

    UO: These password restrictions/guidelines are fucking ridiculous

    Passwords must have the following characteristics:
    • At least one uppercase or lowercase letter;
    • At least one number;
    • At least one special character; Special characters include: ! @ $ % * ( ) < > ? : ; { } + - ~
    • Contain no more than two identical consecutive characters in any position from the previous password;
    • Contain a non-numeric in the first and last positions;
    • Not be identical to the User ID.

    Additionally as a policy, it is recommended that passwords should not:
    • Contain any dictionary word;
    • Contain any proper noun or the name of any person, pet, child, or fictional character, nor any employee serial number, Social Security Number, birth date, phone number, or any information that could be readily guessed about the creator of the password;
    • Contain any simple pattern of letters or numbers, such as "qwerty" or "xyz123";
    • Be any word, noun, or name spelled backwards.
