Oh wait a second, did you assume I was white because of the school i go to and the subjects i study? Oh, I see. Yes, ur definitely not racist.
When did anyone say anything about your race? If anything, your comment about getting a deal on your rent bc white people don't want to live in black neighborhoods says the most about you. It's not the color of your skin that makes you a racist, it's your thoughts and actions.
Meladoriestar assumed i was not black. If my actions determine how racist I am: I am english, indian, and jamaican myself. my partner is japanese and german. Im pretty confident on where I stand. also, black ppl cant be racist. Im not going to explain, look it up if you actually care at all

Because that makes all the sense in the world.
"Oh, the silent majesty of a winter's morn, the clean, cool chill of the holiday air,
an asshole in his bathrobe, emptying a chemical toilet into my sewer."

DH and I are an interracial couple with three children. Both of us completed degrees at a private university plus various professional certifications and have successful careers. There goes your "racist bimbo" theory.
You're the one who brought race into the discussion and are the only one making (or trying to make) an issue of it. The only assumption I made was that your posts made you appear immature and entitled, which would likely make an attempt at reasoning with you futile. I'm only replying to this nonsense because I detest when people try to play the race (or another such) card instead of a valid logical point.
Also, racism isn't a one way street. Anyone, no matter what race or ethnicity he/she is, can do, say, or believe something "racist". It's ignorant and illogical to think otherwise.

I can't get past two people wasting all that money on Ivy League degrees in Early Childhood Education and Poetry. POETRY.
I'm honestly curious what kind of sustaining work you can do with a degree in poetry. Maybe I'm naive to the subject?
On a side note, how in the world do you figure that black people can't be racist? That comment in and of itself is the most racist thing in this thread.
Btw, my partner read through all of the comments of disbelief at how we manage our budget & came away from it more proud of me than he has ever been, I think he finally understands how much work put in to keep our finances in order. Especially since nobody on this thread seems capable of doing the same. So, thank you all for that.
This is the definition of racism as per the Merriam-Webster dictionary.
"a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race"
There is nothing in this definition that specifies the color of the racist. Your tumblr page and your blog post are not credible sources even if they say, "The dictionary is wrong, get over it."
My request was that you back up your argument with a credible source. Not that you upload the source in its entirety. Did your Ivy League degree not teach you how to cite a book?
Dictionary definitions do not typically correlate with academic definitions. Did you go to college? Also, if you care at all, do the work yourself: I'm not going to go to my bookshelf & cite every book I own for an idiot.
Also, you have yet to provide any example of women being sexist toward men.
You guys are clearly voicing some issues that have nothing to do with me, I'm sorry many of you are so miserable. In any case, when you calm down, know that I don't take any offense. I been laughing off most of these posts with my partner, my partner's friends, and my best female friend. All of them have actually been telling me that I'm being too courteous LOL Anyway, we're bored so we're leaving now, like actually. Have fun with whatever this place is supposed to be

I don't care, because you're wrong. You don't get to apply your academic definitions to everyday purposes, therefore your only point is moot.
That would be equivalent to me (a kollege edumacated Chemist) going around correcting people every time they use the word organic to describe something that is (per the dictionary definition) organic but doesn't meet the academic definition used in Chemistry.
Not sure why I'm giving this a real response but whatever. My aunt is a single mom with 1 child. they live in Brooklyn in a fairly decent area. their rent is substantially more than what you claim yours is with no utilities included and the place is far too small for a family of four. f you're getting rent that cheap along with an apartment that can fit a family of four you're not just living in an area that has black people. You live in an area that contains people of all races that is very unsafe. its not fair to bring a child into that situation.
since I'm sure you'll have some story to explain how you scored some super awesome place lets talk about income. what you have is not going to work and only would if some hypothetical situation played out in the future. you can't plan life like that. if your schedules don't perfectly align you're screwed. if your child isn't born perfectly healthly you're screwed. if your landlord sells the place you live in you're screwed because you're never finding rent that cheap again. your future earning potential is low and kids get much more expensive with age. you may get off cheap with newborns and toddlers but that changes quickly. don't do it.

I thought you said you didn't have any friends? Lies. ALL LIES.
TTC our first. Married to, and madly in love with, my beautiful wife. Living with our fur baby and enjoying 19 nieces and nephews.

No, I made a valid point to explain why my living situation is manageable. You all made yourselves look unbelievably racist and unconcerned with the fact that white people purposefully segregate black people into devalued "'hoods"
Actually, I was trying to read through all of your crap before responding, but this statement just pissed me off. Are you fucking kidding me? You don't get to post something like that and then criticize us for choosing to ignore your hateful ignorance. I REALLY hope you're a troll because, if not, you're the kind of person I never want my son around.
Lurker from the TTGP thread. OP, it's obvious you think you are smarter than everyone else on this board. Go to the TTGP board and see what many of the regular posters do for a living. Many have advanced degrees. Your assumption is baseless. Also, coming onto a board and throwing out your Ivy League credentials as a way to be condescending is not going to make anyone want to help you. Especially when you criticize how others write when your writing was not all that perfect in most of your posts. Glass houses. So really, you brought people's reactions on yourself by your attitude.
Also, when it comes to not getting married to your "partner", there is nothing wrong with that. However, you will not be afforded the same legal protections as a married couple in case you were to ever break up. Therefore, you really should be able to be in a position to take care of yourself before thinking about having another child. And I mean totally by yourself. No help from your parents.
When it comes to the whole privileged thing, My brother went to Columbia. I know how much it costs to go there. If your parents can pay that straight out with no help from student loans, then you are privileged. Nothing wrong with that, but even though you were once underprivileged doesn't negate the fact that you are now privileged. Again, nothing wrong with that. However, making comments like "all parents pay for college" definitely shows that you are taking a privileged attitude. No, not all parents pay for college. I'm sure most want to, but can't afford it. You can't really get mad at people for thinking you have a privileged attitude and calling you out on it when you are acting like you have a privileged attitude.
ETA: not even getting into the race issue. It was obvious the OP just wanted to start a fight.
sociologist here. Although my degree does come from an awful horrible no good very bad state school so maybe I still don't know what I'm talking about. while it is true that when a black person is racist or a woman is sexist those aren't part of the institutionalized racism and sexism that are so disparaging to black people and women in this country, that doesn't make you as an individual any less of an asshole.
am I the only person who thinks that you can't afford to have a baby if you are using your parents insurance? Grow up, get a job and start supporting your family. Once you are doing that - on.your.own. then think about adding to your family!
Also, you can't just answer yes. You have to provide supporting evidence. LOL
Did you really just post an op/ed piece and a blog article as evidence?
Either this is really sucky MUD or your parents must have paid a lot of money to get you into an Ivy League. Either way, to answer your original question, you are crazy.
It's sad, I know, but it has been the highlight of my day reading through this thread. For every person that walked by and looked at me while I sat here laughing, I wished that I could show them the troll living in my computer. I would actually be baffled if OP wasn't a high school girl that stumbled upon this website and wanted to try and fit in. You failed at that, but you sure as hell win at making me giggle.
