GTKY: TB Pet Peeves

  • Every time someone mentions having a "gender reveal party" I want to shake them and say

    NOBODY CARES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know no one IRL who has had one so this is a Bump related phenomenon to me.

THIS SO MUCH THIS! I know lots of folks IRL who have had them and they grind my gears.

  • ZOMG! If I pee in a cup of ground eye of newt with a dash of virgin unicorn tears under the full moon at midnight will it REALLY tell me the gender of my baby?*

Have any of you tried this? Was it accurate?

    *gender used on purpose.

This! I roll my eyes every time I see a post asking about the gender determination test that they sell or any other form of determining gender, not sex, but gender.

It drives me crazy when someone posts, "I'm pregnant but GOSH I'm so surprised because we weren't even trying!"

OH MY GOD GIRL. Unprotected sex can get your pregnant. You don't have to literally say outloud, "Honey...let's try to get pregnant once we commence this sex."

I don't know why it bothers me so much. It just sounds silly.

This bothers me too. I think it's really insensitive to make a comment like that when so many people suffer from infertility.
I've mentioned a couple times that this pregnancy was not planned and was a big shock. Is that insensitive?

  • I don't like "How long were you trying posts." They are dumb to me.

I also don't like the "Oops baby" term.

IMO it's all in the wording.
ETA: Sharing you story is one thing, creating a special snowflake post about how easy it was to get pregnant is another.

I don't know what it is but the Marcia GIF that someone has in their signature gets on my nerves. (sorry)

For sensitive/political/controversial topics I hate it when people get offended when others don't share their personal views...then go on long tirades and multiple post trying to convert others to their way of thought and why they are wrong. Make your point and then move on but don't dwell...it truly isn't worth your time and frustration because the likelihood of you changing their mind on internet forum is slim to none.

    LOL, that's @aliletz I think you're referring to!

Heh, I definitely had my momentary guilty conscience too on this.  I've mentioned our deal- not about it being easy trying, heck, we tried over 2 years with no luck, but that I went on birth control, was on it like I should have and followed directions, and THEN got pregnant as a huge surprise.  So, guilt-fest over over here.  :-)

  • This is a stupid one but it bugs me when people have a "sig" on their posts that's obviously a bad html code with nothing but letters on them. Fix your shit!

I've tried.  Multiple times.  TB refuses to update my siggy and it pisses me off probably more than it does you.

  • I stand corrected Jan Brady is the perpetrator....Marcia has been found innocent of all charges.

Are you trying to update the way you did before the format change? That might be the problem.

Not sure.  I go to my profile, edit my avatar and sig, then change it and save.  Is there a different way?

IF so share your wisdom oh wise one!  This is annoying! :D

Go to the "need siggy help" stickied on the first page. It's different now. You need to be changing it through the little head icon at the top right of the page.

  • I'm slightly tired of food posts. Only because I need to eat everything you post about. I've been craving a blt for days now.

Seriously though. I get a tad annoyed when people post "new here" and then never post again. Why bother? I feel bad but I rarely respond to those anymore.

Ok, I kind of love those posts, because they get me all excited about a food. It's sad what brightens my day.
