What are your guilty pleasure names?

I know there is a names board on TB, but I'm more interested in hearing from you all instead of a bunch of women I don't really know.

Indulge me and my babies rabies.

What are your guilty pleasure names?

I would really enjoy spelling Kennessee aloud for some reason, but I wouldn't saddle my child with that either.

And my GPs for a boychild are August or Zia.

For a girlchild, Agata or Renata.

I don't think that any of them are WTF worthy, but I can't/won't use them.

  • @AbbyMMM, I don't really miss being pregnant, but we do want to have three more kids and would like to keep them closer in age (and us as young as possible - I'm 32 and H is almost 37) so maybe that has my biological clock going BSC?

I also love being a mom a lot more than I thought I would.  This role is the most satisfying one that I've taken on yet, and that coupled with my insane love for LO wants me to have ALL the babies now.  Even when they're spitting up on me and won't stop crying at 0330.

This has also translated into a huge uptake in my desire to DTD, not because my libido or ladybits have fully recovered, but because I want babies.

I'm kind of hoping that when LO starts foods in a couple months that I get KU as a result.

  • I was actually kind of thinking about using this as an FFFC something but I'll share it here.

Murphy for a girl. It's got kind of an interesting story behind it. Growing up, my mom always called me Mrs. Murphy. Our name isn't Murphy, we don't know anyone named Murphy, I never knew why she did it, she just always did. I asked her about it one day, and she said she hadn't ever really thought about it, but it's what her mom called her when she was a little girl. We asked my grandma and she said the same thing- no reason that she could think of other than that HER mom called HER Mrs. Murphy when she was a kid! No way of knowing why or how far back it goes. :) Anyway, I told my mom that if I had a girl (we were team green), I wouldn't be able to help but call her Mrs. Murphy, too. Then we were both kind of quiet for a minute and she said, "Actually, that'd be a pretty cute name...." I thought it was a little weird at first, but it grew on me really fast and I LOVED the idea. I did just about everything I could to convince DH that it should be at the top of our girl name book, but he never really took to it. He never said flat out no, but I could tell he wasn't jazzed about the idea. It's still on my list, so maybe someday...  8-> I will say that if we ever decide to use the name, we'll give her a very strong feminine middle name so that she could choose to use it later if she wanted to. I like Murphy Adele or Murphy Caroline or something like that.

I also really like boy names on girls, which is a huge UO around the name board. I've met girls named Logan, Drew, Blake, and Kyle, and they're all just really cool and interesting.

Others: Poppy, Daisy, Fern, Luna, Willow, Violet, Valentine... I like nature-y names but DH isn't too into them.

  • I love Cressida or Linley for a girl. Pretty sure our family would make fun of us forever if we used Cressida. Flynn or August for a boy although I don't consider those GP names.

  • Boy names : Wolfgang and Llewelyn. No idea why and never going to happen.

  • I name my DD a boys name! Ryian (pronounced Ryan) I love boy names for girls!!
  • I like boy names on girls too. I have my whole life. I have a very feminine name and I was always jealous of cool boyish names on girls. Elliot, Rowan, Parker, Lennon, Avery, Emery are all names I considered for a girl.

My little guy!  Everett Richard born 9/3/13

  • I also really like "boy " names on girls. I LOVED the idea of Parker for a girl--and had DH at least thinking about it until my best friend had a boy and named him Parker. I also liked Austin, Logan, and Elliot. I know a little girl named Hunter, and DH's top name choice was Peyton (used around here for mostly boys). Would I be brave enough to actually use one of those? I'm not sure, but I love them.

We finally settled on Adrienne (pronounced like Adrian, since I get asked often how it's pronounced) and when people hear it, they ask if it's a boy's name, since the shorter spelling is used as a boy's name and they sound the same.
  • I love Peyton for a girl. Before I found out I was having a boy it was my choice for a girl but DH and both families said it made them think of Peyton Manning (we also live in Denver).

  • I am very traditional when it comes to names. I think some less traditional names are pretty but just not my style. My daughter's name is Caroline Elizabeth and if we have a boy next we'll go with Thomas Reece. However, when I was about 9 years old I remember saying I wanted to name my daughter Trigonometry with the nickname Trig. Dont ask me where that come from!

  • I love Constance for a girl. But I'm not huge on the nick name Connie.

  • I love Jack but every kid near us is Jack. Lena and Freya, both favorites for girls after witches I liked from books/shows haha. I ADORE Grayer and sometimes secretly feel Jacob would be a very cute "Gray."

Whitney Lux, your little lady is Lux right? (Or did I make that up?) I think that name is badass and pretty.

Yep, Lux is my middle name and my mother's maiden name. I love it!

When I was pregnant everyone hated it. I made the mistake of mentioning it on the baby name board. I got flamed so bad I almost quit TB.

How is Lux pronounced? Like "lucks," or like "Loo?"

  • Okay here it goes. I love the name Areola for a girl's name. I would absolutely never ever ever use it, it's just so pretty sounding. I weird myself out.

    My DD is Drew :-)

My guilty pleasure girl name is Dixie. I could never go through with naming a child that, but I just think its adorable.

  • @roosterwrangler DS middle name is Wolfe. DH said no to Wolfgang or Wulfric but let me have Wolfe.

My guilty pleasure name for a girl is Pepper.
  • I heart the name Lorelai and Rory for short as I have long loved the Gilmore Girls, but my H said no go on that ever.

Some people think Sutton's more of a boy name. I personally like it for a girl (obviously).

  • My first name is Helen and I always wished it was Helena. Id like to name my daughter that but wont because it seems weird to name her after me. I also like Taala. It means light in my language but dh says no because it is also used for lightbulb, ceiling light, table lamp.....you get the picture.
  • I desperately wanted lily for A's middle name. I wouldn't tell H, but it was totally because of Lily Potter in the Harry Potter books. My friend named her daughter Hermoine, which I think is awesome but wouldn't have had the balls.

I love Hermione! I would love to use it as a middle name but DH says absolutely not.

  • My friend named her son August and he goes by Gus. I love the name! It's after her paternal grandfather.

Dh and I still plan on naming our second boy (I'm convinced we will only have boys for some reason) Bailey. We both love it!
  • Remington for a girl or boy. And Remmy as a nick name. Also, Johnny for a girl or boy. It's my daddy's name and would love to pass it down. Next LO might be Johnny. ;;)

We were team green and we chose Austin John for our boy name but ended with a girl; Rachel. Which was always DH's baby name since before we met. I completely vetoed the name back then. And as soon as we were pregnant I fell in love with the name, and I love her name everyday!

For a girl I really like the names Freya and Parker...if we ever used Parker though I would give a super feminine middle name ( I like Parker Sophia) . DH likes the name Tesla, he is a big science nerd and tried convincing me to name DD this.

Boy GP names are tougher, because I tend to be more traditional. I guess Nolan might be considered a gp though.
H wanted to name LO Tesla.  I'd be game for a baby named Nikola, but I couldn't do Tesla.

  • I also love boy names on girls. But there is a limit. Like Kevin lol

I've met women named Kyle, Bobbi, Chris, Allyn, Bryan, and Brandon.
  • I don't know why but I really like the name Mable for a girl! I also seem to enjoy the name Meadow, but I think that's just because I'm really into the sopranos right now and hear that name daily. I would never be able to use meadow though because my DD's name is Autumn.. How silly would that be. One I tried to convince my bf on is Lily, I can't get enough I think it's the cutest for a little girl.

I'm not much of a fan on any boys names but I do like Noah.
  • I love Elwood! That's cute. I am also a fan of boy names on girls. Not sure why but I always have liked them.

I love the name Cordelia. I also love the nickname Delia. I will never ever get my husband on board with this name but I wish I could. I have liked the name forever and now there is a character on American Horror Story with the name, and actually hearing it makes me love it even more.

  • I love Elwood! But Reese Witherspoon played Elle Woods in Legally Blonde. Ellie is my favorite nick name for a girl. But my dad named his puppy Elcey and her nn is Ellie. I don't think I would name my baby after a puppy.
