December 2013 Moms

up all night... again

With a coughing/congested baby :-( going on 4 nights with little to no sleep is starting to wear on this mamma. Think we'll be taking a trip to grandma and papa's house today so that they can watch the boys and I can nap! Any suggestions for an infant with a cold? We are Running the humidifier, having him sleep propped up, trying to keep nasal passage cleared but also trying not to aggrevate it more with the the suction bulb... feel so bad for him and helpless to make him feel better :-(

  • Poor baby! Only other thing I could suggest are saline drops. I hope he feels better soon and that you can get a nap today!

If your willing to do it, saline drops and the Nose Frieda are easier on the nose than the bulb...
Sorry LO IS SICK. It sucks and you feel so helpless. Hang in there mama.

  • I will try some saline drops... we don't have a nose Frieda... (I actually had to Google what bit was, never heard of it). We may have one by the end of the day though! :-) I was just reading on pinterest where you can put Vic's in a scentsy warmer to help with congestion...I hate the smell of vics, but desperate times....

  • The nose Freida is the most wonderfully disgusting invention, but it is a miracle worker. Feel better little baby!

  • I took LO in the shower with me to let the steam work at his congestion
  • Vick's on the bottom of their feet and put socks on

I picked up baby Vic's at target the other day and it said 3+ Months... Is it ok to use?! Because that's my favorite trick I do it for ds1 all the time!!
  • Doc said to use the baby Vic's no problem :)

  • Humidifier, saline drops and suction before feedings, also I found that going in the bathroom and running the shower on hot till it gets really steamy helped LO a lot when she was going through the worst of the RSV. Unfortunately there's not a lot aside from those things that you can do except comfort them. It will pass!

  • Thanks ladies, I have to run to Walmart tonight, so I will have to pick up some saline drops and try them for sure. I had some when DS1 was little, but not sure where they ended up at...hoping we are on the tail end of this cold!
