First appointment after getting BFP

As I am reading posts, I am seeing that people are going in at different stages to their OB. When I let mine know that I got a +, she scheduled me for Feb. 3 to have u/s (thinking I will be about 7 weeks) and then appointment with her (not sure what it will entail) . When did you have your first appointment after getting a +HPT and what did the appointment consist of?

I will not have my first u/s until 2/4. However, I went in the week after I got my BFP to do the initial blood work, pelvic exam, history, got a script of zofran, and prenatal vitamins. I am assuming my u/s next month will be for dating purposes.

I was told a nurse would be calling me to get medical history before my appointment. This is the same doctor that has been my gyn for years, does that make a difference? She has had me on prenatal vitamins since we started trying to conceive. This is making me wonder if blood work should have been scheduled sooner.

I always have an appointment right after getting a BFP to do blood work to confirm. Then I have another around 8w to do an u/s to look for viability. After that u/s, when you meet with the OB they will go over their prenatal care schedule with you and generally let you know what to expect as far as u/s and doctor's visit for the rest of the pregnancy, they will also do a little bit of a rundown on what they see on the u/s (the u/s techs usually can't say anything about what they are seeing on the screen).

@iam3jenn - did they get a urine sample from you? They sometimes test that way as well.

@Stasi No, I called and said I had gotten +HPT Sunday and Monday (I left message Monday night and heard back Tuesday). They had front desk call to schedule appointment Feb. 3 for u/s and first OB visit (with the dr that has been my gyn).

My OB does blood work to confirm pregnancy instead of urine testing...she doesn't repeat the blood work again...maybe my OB is rare..

My OB also doesn't see me at all until 8wks. Even then I believe that first appt is with the nurse not the doctor.

That is exactly like me. Unless requested they don't to betas and we will just confirm everything right around 7 weeks with an ultrasound.

I don't see mine at all until jan 29, when I will be just over 9 weeks. No blood tests or confirmation anything so far. I'm is my first pregnancy and I haven't had any issues so they said this was soon enough.

I got my BFP on Christmas and do not see my OB's office till Jan 29th. I will be just past 9 weeks. No other blood work or anything else. The only symptoms I've had so far are sore boobs and some cramping so they said I don't need to come in any sooner. I don't even know if I'll get an u/s at that time either.....it's been frustrating to say the lease.

My first appointment on 1/29 (7 weeks) is just blood work, and then I'm suppose to go to some info session with other moms to be. Should be interesting...

Then I actually see the doctor on 2/12 and get my first ultrasound.

I gotta admit, when I called I was a bit thrown off that they didn't want to see me RIGHT THIS SECOND lol.

I don't have an appt until 2/6 I should be almost 8 weeks then. If it's anything like my first pregnancy they'll do a vaginal ultrasound and that'll be it. They don't do blood work to confirm at my OBGYN unless you are high risk or have a history of loss.

I got my positive on 1/6 and my first appointment is not until 2/12. This is my first pregnancy and since I have not had any issues or concerns they wont see before that.

My dr won't see me until 8 weeks and at that appt he will u/s, urine test and send me to the lab for my blood work panels.

I've always had an 8 week appt with my Dr. she does the u/s and then we chat. Pelvic exåm and blood work at 12 weeks.

I got my BFP on 12/31 and I went to the Dr on 1/14 (5w6d) just to do a urine test to confirm. I go for an ultrasound on 2/11(approx 10w) then the appt with the pelvic exam right after that. The procedure was the same way with my DS.

This is how it is for me as well. My appointment is February 10 and I know there won't be an US then. This is typical here though (I'm in Canada) and I don't have any history of MC. My last pregnancy was the same thing. We went in at the 9-10 week appointment then he did urine test and sent me for blood work. I opted out of the NT scan so I got to have an US that week, but would have waited til 12 weeks otherwise. It's a long time from BFP to seeing the baby that's for sure!!!

I have an appointment a month after I called. I will be 9 weeks. We will meet with the nurse and get a dating US and then with billing to set up a payment plan and see what our insurance will cover.

My first appointment is 2/3 at approx 7.5w but it is just with a nurse and for blood work. I had a beta done to confirm my pregnancy by my RE. Last time I had 2 betas and u/s at 5w6d, 7w, and 9w before seeing my OB but that is only because we did IVF. It is definitely different this time to not be monitored so closely.

I wouldn't be going in until 10w, but due to the surprise nature we don't know when 10w is, so I'm having a dating u/s next week.

I had bloodwork just a few days after my BFP... I have an u/s scheduled for the 1/27th... and then we'll book my first appt based on how far along I look to be. My last period was kind of screwy, so we're not sure if I'm 5, 6, or 7 weeks along.

I'm 36 and overweight, so I fall into the "slightly high risk" category, which is why they got me in so early with the last pregnancy, and then we repeated it for this pregnancy.

My first appointment is 2/12. I'll be almost 9 weeks. It's an ultrasound then appt with the nurse. My OB doesn't do blood test, but I ended up having betas done on Wed and today because a had some spotting Wed morning.

I went in the day after I got my BFP for HCG testing (12 dpo), and went in three more times to make sure levels were increasing. I am scheduled for my first ultrasound 1/28, I'll be just over 6 weeks. We were seeing a RE so I'm sure that impacts how early I'm coming in.

I got my BFP 1/9 and our first appt is 2/11 and I will be around 9 weeks. They didn't want me to come in for bloodwork they said the HPT's are accurate enough. My first appt I'll have a dating ultrasound then meet with a nurse and my doctor after that. They told me to plan on being there for a couple of hours. This waiting is very hard especially because it's my first and I'm not really sure what to expect.

Going in 2/4 - my birthday. I had been seeing my doctor for very irregular cycles while TTC (up to 90 days!) the OB said to make sure I was AT LEAST 8 weeks before they see me. Based on my previous pregnancy tests and doctor's visit w/ u/s prior to pregnancy, I believe will be between 8-10.5 weeks then. Based on LMP though, it would be 11.5 weeks. Can't wait for a due date! With ms, hoping I'm on the farther end by my appt.

My first appt is 2/14. I'll be 8w4d. I remember with my very first BFP, they brought me in to meet with a nurse and did a blood test for CF and a urine pregnancy test to confirm. They only do that for your first though, not with subsequent pregnancies.

With my last pregnancy, they brought me in at 6w3d for an u/s and then again at 9w3d b/c I have miscarried my prior pregnancy.

BFP 1/5, 1st appt at 8 weeks 2/7. They said I'll be seeing the midwives, and it'll be an hour. I didn't think to ask if I'll get an u/s.

I had my BFP Tuesday night, Wednesday morning I called and that afternoon went in for HCG draws, as well as Friday. Monday they'll call to schedule my first ultrasound at 7 weeks so the first week of February. This is completely different then my first BFP because I've had a loss. With my first I went in around 6 weeks for the first appt, met with a nurse and did the initial blood work, the second appt was scheduled for 10 weeks for a pap and heartbeat listen...

Every doctor/every office is totally different though

ETA: I am also considered "High risk" because I have a bicornuate uterus. So that with the loss adds to the number of appts

If there is no history of miscarriage then my OB will see you at 6.5 weeks for a viability ultrasound, urine c&s, medical history and blood work.

My doctor said she does not usually see patients until about 8 weeks unless it is a high risk pregnancy or there are problems. I told her I wanted to come in for a blood test just to confirm and get my hcg levels. I'm glad I did, since she said my progesterone was a little low and she put me on progesterone suppositories. Since this is my first pregnancy, I am worried about everything andjust wanted to hear everything was ok! I have my first "real" appointment on February 3 (I'll be about 8 weeks then).

I still just want to do everything right to take care of this little seed and am going crazy not seeing the doctor until 2/3. Did your husbands go to the first appointment? I was planning on mine going, but wasn't sure if that would be normal.

My Dr. doesn't want to see me until after my 9 week ultrasound. With my first pregnancy I made an appointment right away and I pretty much just peed in a cup and got weighed. I've been having spotting this week though so I wish my appointment was sooner.

ETA, My doc told me to email her when I got my bfp so she could send me for blood work asap.

My h came to every single appointment with me, and I loved having him there. We're lucky he has a flexible job though!!

EDD is 9/6, first appt is 1/24. I have a history of losses (3 prior losses, no live births), so I wait until there should DEFINITELY be a heartbeat, and get an u/s. I don't want to have to go through all of the other stuff if I'm just going to miscarry, and I refuse to get early ultrasounds. I actually wanted to wait until further into my 8th week, but 7w6d will be my first u/s.

With this and my prior pregnancy, my doc's office scheduled my first appt for 9-10 weeks (9 the first time, 10 this time) and gave me the option of confirming the pregnancy with bloodwork. We only did one set of betas, and since they were consistent with my O date based on my charting, we didn't do a second set.

Last time at my 9 week appt, my OB did a doppler for the heartbeat, but I didn't have an ultrasound. This time, I scheduled my appt in their office location that has ultrasound machines in the exam rooms, so I'm hoping for an ultrasound too. I'm going to try no to obsessively try to find the heartbeat myself before then because I'm sure I'll make myself crazy!

@iam3jenn, my husband went with me to most of my appointments last time, too, and to all of my ultrasounds. It was great having him there to hear the little heartbeat and see the little bean dance
