I initially didn't want DH to watch due to fears it would change how attractive he viewed me but he insisted. He was my rock and was so excited to hold my leg, help tell me when a push was good, tell me our son had hair. He watched me get cath'd -- he missed nothing. He was amazing. I can honestly say I think he loves me more after going through it together.
My husband watched, held my legs, took photos and cut the cord. Yes, there was poop as expected but from what I was told most of it was actually due to the baby having already pooped inside the womb.
SO was undecided if he was going to watch. He kept saying he thought he might faint or get sick. When it came down to it, he was extremely supportive. He fed me ice chips and continuously replaced cold washcloths on my forehead and neck. He breathed with me through my contractions, let me squeeze his hand, held my leg, rooted me on to push, and watched the whole thing. Once LO was born he took pics and stood by her bassinet crying. I was bleeding heavily and he freaked out and wanted to be by my side and hold my hand but I encouraged him to stay with LO. He was torn. LO is now 5 days old, several times a day I hear about what an amazing job I did. SO can't quit talking about the whole process, what a miracle it is, and the amount of respect he has for women.
DH was behind me in the birthing tub. He said he didn't see anything until the baby was out. As far as the pooping thing it was a concern of mine too but when it was happening I was like if I gotta poop to get this baby out well that's it.
