Re: FFFC

  • I told a friend that I had a prior engagement because I really don't want to go to her 1 year old's birthday party. I feel horrible, but they've had a stomach bug, had to cancel the party last week, then rescheduled for next week, then changed it again to this week. Also the baby's birthday was a month ago. I'm just over it... I do feel bad for lying though.

  • MIL always talks about how tight I put on cloth diapers. So yesterday she was changing DD and asked if she leaks out of them when she puts them on, I said yes. Which technically is not true because I catch it soon enough, but she puts them on so the legs have gaps, and the stomach is gaping. So I lied a little ;)

  • I got my 10 yr "badge" a couple weeks ago. I signed up to look at wedding dresses my freshman year of college and was nowhere near getting married.

I love being a SAHM. I know once it starts getting nicer outside I won't be able to justify laying in bed all morning with little bit. (And she will be mobile)

I thoroughly enjoyed gif-ing the hell out of that crazy lady this week.

I'm making my H go to my mom's house this weekend on his days off. I like the attention LO gets from my mom and I get a break. H isn't that helpful....

  • @hmlynch84 and @Kristonita12 I am jealous of both your posts!

I was considering starting solids before 6 months since my supply is dropping. I realize it's totally selfish and will likely not do it, though our pediatrician said anytime after 4 months was up to us when we wanted to start.

  • I rarely get a chance to view discussions on this board. When I do I read old posts first, with the exception of UO & FFFC bc they're juicy.

My FFFC: If someone offered me money to give a bumpies username from this board, I couldn't. IJDGAF. Who posts what, when, where, how many times, old vs new, doesn't determine the level of crazy/weirdness in my book. So if I have a question I'll try to find the answer by looking through old posts first. If I can't find it, I'll ask this board. If I get an answer, great. I really appreciate all the answers I've received so far on this board. If not, oh well. I certainly wouldn't ask a life or death question and wait for the internet to give me my answer.

    Wtf are you talking about?

@sabrinakurtz @JocelynB0911 still side eying this as a, "who are you and why is your FFFC a FFFC?" Still scratching my head.

My entitled SMIL has tried to make plans to see Caleb two weekends in a row. She waits until Thursday or Friday and then asks us if they can come over or if we'll come to their house. Last weekend we had the Seahawks game, dinner plans, out of town friends in town, a baby shower, and plans with my brother. This weekend we have two birthday parties, another dinner party, and the Seahawks game again. I TOLD her last weekend that a weeknight work best, and she never replied to that. Now I'm enjoying very very much getting to tell her that we're busy again this weekend and can't make time. It's her own fault she didn't listen to me when I told her what works best for us... And her past behavior has made it so that I'm not going to bend over backwards to make time for them. Sorry not sorry. ;)
You bring LO to all of this stuff, including a football game?  I'm seriously impressed.  I don't know why I find it so daunting to bring E places with me, but I'm basically afraid to take him anywhere besides my parents' house for my dad to watch him while I'm at work.  Maybe it's partly because the weather has been so crappy (snowy, cold and bad roads).

I don't care for new people that are just now coming out of the woodwork. Excuse me while I don't squeeee at the fact you claim to have stalked our board for almost a year and are just now making an intro. It's creepy not cute.

I disagree. While yes, it's creepy, who cares if there are new people who want to participate? The ones who think they are going to change us, like that gem earlier this week, can get bent. Why do we (using we loosely as the group as a whole) have to keep chasing newbs away? I guess if everyone wants to keep this exclusive now then I'll just have to accept that but I don't get it.

I don't mind new people coming in. However, I agree with @JocelynB0911 about people saying they've stalked and lurked for over a year and just now want to start joining in. It makes more sense to me to have someone who has a baby born in September that maybe just found this board and wants to join in rather than someone who says they've been here the whole time and never said a word.

Hahaha well, they aren't the actual football games, sorry. We go watch the game with my parents at their house. They make food and we all hang out. Idk if I'd actually take my kid to a real game.
But yeah, I take him everywhere. The bday parties this weekend are for a one year old friend (so, lots of kids), and my mom. And the dinner plans have been casual get together a with high school and college friends so they can meet the baby. :)

After I posted that I realized you might have meant watching the game.  I'm still impressed anyway.  I always feel so exhausted trying to socialize and take care of E at the same time. Just reading that list of stuff is tiring to me! lol

  • I must be creepy as shit then.  I've been on TB since I was TTC DS1 5 years ago but only starting posting in November 2012.  I stalked the hell out of the boards, but never had the guts to post.  I have no idea why an internet forum was so intimidating to me.  I only changed my account because I mistakenly used my full name as a username.  I actually commend those that are gutsy enough to jump in and post after "relationships" are already formed.

I hate the phrase, "sorry, not sorry." People sound like a snotty little preteen jerks to me when they say that. If you aren't sorry, than don't even say it, it just sounds bitchy to me.

If I say "sorry, not sorry", I fully intend to sound like a snotty bitch.
I get that that's the point, to sound like that. I still hate it though. Lol @HBirdie

My FFFC is that I never intro'd on this board because I found it strange to announce a "hey I may start posting here" post? It didn't seem like it deserved its own post and it seemed kind of AWing to me.
    I didn't either.

ALSO, not flaming, but I find it incredibly tacky and lame when people admit they're bad at grammar and don't do anything to rectify it. Gross.

Oh I do try, it's almost hard wired now and I type before I think. I know it's wrong, I just don't see that it is.

I thought of another that I have to get out. My future MIL gets on my nerves (groundbreaking reveal, I know) and wedding planning has been a nightmare because she is a florist. It's important to my fiance that she does our flowers (and obviously saves boatloads of money) and his sister is constantly telling me to ask her about the decorations and all sorts of details because she deals with brides every day. I finally to her and asked their mom about a few things to which she shows me a portfolio of things she's been putting together! My confession? It's fucking PERFECT. It is literally everything I had in my head out down on paper. I'm furious that she nailed it and now I have to actually acknowledge that she isn't completely crazy and she really does know what she's doing. I should be happy because this is going to make my life easier and planning go more smoothly but it really just pisses me off.
Hah, I can totally see why that would piss you off.

  • I didn't realize my post was so confusing. Simply put, I don't pay attention to usernames. Therefore, I don't know who posts what or when.

To answer questions: who am I? A person that had a baby in September.
Why did I feel the need to post this as a FFFC? Bc it was what I could think of for a confession. Maybe it should have been an UO, I don't know.
This is FFFC though so I don't mind the criticism

  • I started DD with oatmeal yesterday and she sttn for the 2nd time EVER. I'm sure it's just a coincidence, but I was happy to tell my friend who is soooo against cereal and who's 9 mo old still wakes up multiple times a night.
I started cereal bc she didn't ever seem satisfied and was drinking 30+ oz of formula. The better sleep may just be a bonus ;-)

  • At lo's 4 month checkup, pedi said we could start rice cereal. DH thinks it'll help her sleep better no matter what I say. So we've started rice cereal.

Confession: when DH is traveling for work for the next month, I have no plans to give rice cereal. But if he asks, I'll say I did or that I forgot.

We haven't had DS's 4 month appointment yet but this sounds exactly like what will probably happen with my DH.

  • my mom and I are throwing a baby shower tomorrow for my brother's knocked up gf. My confession is that I'm not happy about it. I can't stand the trashy ho. I don't expect her to say thank you to a single person there and that pisses me off.

  • Another one that some others reminded me of:

DH can't handle the girls getting shots and so he doesn't come to their appointments.  Even though it would be nice sometimes for him to hear what the pedi says, most of the time I'm glad he isn't there so he can't get ideas from what the pedi says.  Because I guarantee that if a pedi said DD would sleep better with cereal, DH would be all about it.  And that would start an argument.

  • I use a blanket when I put DS down. I tuck it under his legs and have no issues. At this point I'm not really worried about him suffocating himself. He usually kicks it off anyway.

This is us too. We live in Florida so it's rarely warm enought to need it but when it's cold here I make sure the blanket is down past her belly button but she hardly moves in her sleep yet so I'm not stressing over it.
  • FFFC:   Last night I had 1/2 a bottle of wine left and my MIL and FIL were over. I just waited until late in the evening and poured myself one bbiigg glass and didn't offer them any. Oooopsies.

With in laws over and a baby, I bet you deserved it most :)
  • 2. I still use the nipple shield with DS. I just haven't felt like teaching him to nurse without it if it's working so well for us.

This is us too. It has become a habit, probably more for me than DD even. I don't plan on stopping anytime soon.

  • I'm a teacher and have a planning period every day from 10-11 and this week I've been reading a book instead of planning or grading. My kids haven't been listening really well and making me very frustrated so I don't feel that bad about it.

I applaud you for sticking with it while using a shield. DS figured it out at about 3 weeks and I was SOOOO glad to be done with the shield. I think if we still had to use it I would have given up a long time ago. I was constantly losing it or too lazy to wash it.
