Whoa whoa whoa where did I ever say anything about welfare? I just said the way she said it was SUPER douchey. I don't think that is something to go around bragging about after a bunch of people just said how much they had to pay. I think you guys are the butthurt ones by reading your replies. Shit.
OK....and she responded to the question....So why are you so upset about it? No one else is. If you knew her, she responded the way she does to most things, with a sense of humor. Shush.

I still think its you thats butthurt. Why didn't you get mad at the people that paid $400 dollars or less when there are people paying thousands? You are butthurt and now you are just trying to cover your ass. It's cool, everyone makes mistakes and speaks/types without thinking sometimes. Just say you were wrong and everyone will move on.

All right ladies, simmer down. No name calling. There were a few of you.
No one should be judged on how their bill gets paid. I got laid off 2 months before DS was born. My husband worked 60 hours a week as a mechanic at a job that didn't offer insurance. I got on Medicaid and I got unemployment until I went into labor. Shit happens. You want to know what happens when someone that doesn't have insurance gets sick and can't afford the bills? My DH got MRSA when he started a new job. We had to wait 60 days to be eligible for insurance. He spent a week in the hospital and had surgery on his hand. 35,000 dollar bill. We ended up having to file medical bankruptcy and we lost our house that we worked damn hard for. That is what happens. I wish we could have taken advantage of a program we paid into, but we couldn't. This time, we both work for the state and only paid 2000 OOP on a 30000 dollar csection.
My bill was 85k plus another 20k for the baby. I had 39 hour induction, plus major hemorrhaging, plus tubal for 6 total days at the hospital. Mason had kidney issues which resulted in multiple tests plus circumcision. We ended up being billed 1500 for me plus 1500 for Mason.
I don't care who you are, this fucking pisses me off. Not something I would go around bragging about and rubbing in other people's faces.
If she qualifies and isnt lying or abusing the system then I think its awesome that she was able to use what her DH and her pay into. She isnt a drug addict, she did work, and her DH works. She isnt living off the system. She would have gone backrupt trying to pay all the bills she had with out it.
It was how she said it. Childish. I would absolutely love to be able to use what my DH and I pay into, unfortunately we don't qualify because of our incomes. I don't mind that, but I would prefer that people not throw it in our faces like nanana booboo you paid THOUSANDS out of pocket on top of what you pay every month and I didn't pay shit. Not cool.
I know I'm late to the party but I just can't let this go. I think YOUR response, @CJS2011, was extremely childish. She was responding to the question asked and she was excited about it. In no way was she rubbing it in. You need to grow the fuck up.
Edit: because words are hard.

My bill was around $40k and baby girl was somewhere in the $12k range.. Those fools charged $200 for a NIPPLE SHIELD! oh yeah, and that tummy brace for post-section? $25 at babies r us, $700 big ones at the hospital. Wtf.

amberrrjade got full coverage. Sure, it would have been nice to have it myself, but that's my own problem for being pregnant at a time when I couldn't wait a year for either ACA or a maternity rider to kick. (I's old, yo.) If I wanted to be butthurt jealous about it, I have a whoooooole thread of people here to be offended by.

I got charged for the epidural and I didn't recieve it. I asked for one, they came in to the room set me on the side of the bed and lo decided it was time to make his grand entrance. I called billing and they saud u got charged for suppiles because they opened up everything. The charge was a little over 500.00. Now that I am seeing all the charges I am questioning it further. Total labor and delivery cost 15, 000. With the doc sitting on the stool and he was out. She didn't even assist, he fell on the bed and we were discharged a day early. I had double coverage so the only thing that was not covered was the circumcision which was 211.00 after the reduced rate from the insurance.
