It's my first pregnancy and I had spotting a week ago, called the doctor and they said it was normal based on the color, but I swear every time I go to the bathroom I am constantly checking to make sure there is no blood. I'm just very afraid maybe I have an ectopic pregnancy, chemical pregnancy, etc, freaking myself out. My husband and I are just so excited to be pregnant that I am worrying myself to death. My first appointment is not for another 3 weeks, seems like forever and my close friend had a miscarriage at 8 weeks so ever since then I am freaking myself out. Is this normal? Is there any way to rest easy?

It's totally normal to worry. It has eased up for me. I had a dating u/s at 7w and will go back in 2 weeks for my 12w appt-- I'll rest much easier then.
For now, I'm pregnant today and that's pretty rad. And so are you, so smile! :-)

I love that. I'm a FTM too and constantly worry. Until our u/s next week, my emotions will be all over the place. I think this is normal, so don't fret -- try and enjoy the moment.
I think it is normal to check all the time. I have done it with all of mine and never had any issues till this time around. It is better to be aware than to not be.
