In honor of missdragan@yahoo.com, i want to conduct a little poll to see if she really is accurate when she says "I realized after looking at other data that it's common for most names to have a large percentage of dislikes."

Full post here:

So give it to me straight on my baby name choice. I will exactly copy the wording of her poll.

Do you like the name Tessa? (middle name is Elizabeth, since she also shared her proposed middle name in the thread)

  • I LOVE it. It was also on our list if this LO would have been a girl.
  • Loading the player...
  • I wouldn't use it personally, but it's a cute name :)

  • I have to say as a former research scientist, your results are voided by having posted her quote.

  • It was on our short list. I think it's a classic name.
  • Tess has been my #1/#2 choice since we found out that we're having a girl. Unfortunately, I can't convince my husband to love it like I do :(( But, I still have some time ;)

  • I don't mind the name in and of its self so I voted that i like it. however, my high school boyfriend's sister's name was Tessa and she was a brat so I wouldn't ever use the name myself.

And don't forget to ask for no negative comments, cause they're hurtful, but don't actually mean anything anyway.

Hmmmmm, just created profile and flagged my post in the other thread after the original flag was removed?

  • I think this poll was maybe a little biased. Try this link. At the bottom of this page, you can see the poll results if you vote. 70% hated it :(

I think it's still not to bad compared to other names that are popular right now. For example, 75% of people hated Olive...

Seriously? If you like the name Bali so much name your kid Bali, end of story. No need to create a fake profile to try and justify yourself by saying that no matter what the name, everyone will hate it.

  • You can't change your username (which was my old email from when I used the knot) without making a new profile. There's no bump conspiracy.
  • Alas, you did not represent yourself that way. Andplusalso, NO ONE CARES! Again, name your kid Bali or Slipper or Nintendo or whatever silly thing you please! In the end no one cares but you (and well eventually your poor unfortunate offspring.) Just don't try and fool yourself into thinking it is a pretty little name seed or that everyone hates every name just because that's how things work. It's not. Quit looking for justification for your decision and name your child whatever you please. You have already made it clear that no ones opinions matter so I hope you and little Bali have a wonderful life...

Irisheyez-Oh chill out. So what if I made a few name polls while contemplating a name. Don't be offended bc I didn't take some comments that seriously. I changed my username bc someone brought the email thing to my attention and the only way you're allowed to change the username is to make a new profile. I saw another baby name poll that happened to mention ME in it. So I don't think it's that unexpected for me to comment on it. I've been on here intermittently only over the past week because I've been interested in baby names, but it seems like you're on here a LOT. Maybe you're really bored and this is how you find entertainment. So go ahead and try to make this into something juicy for yourself to enjoy if that tickles your fancy.
  • There is nothing unexpected about changing your user name for that purpose or you coming in to defend your stance, however, you misrepresented yourself and came in as a "new" user to back your original position. And you flagged me with your new profile just to prove how much you "disliked" my post in your original thread. There really is no white knight in the world as good as yourself...
And yes, this is how I find entertainment, you know why? Because this is a website designed for ENTERTAINMENT purposes, but thanks for playing. Now you and little Bali have a wonderful day

  • Well if you think about the obvious... Why would I change a profile broadcasting my email address and then go out of my way to link my new username to it? It's not the end of the world, but seems pretty apparent that it would make more sense not to mention it.
  • Tessa is growing on me.
I love Elizabeth though - although I am biased as that is what we're naming our little girl :)
