Anyone else have 99% of movement on one side? I feel like all the kicks are on my right side... is that weird?
I feel her butt roll around on the left side but most of the movement is on the right. it's been that way since the beginning... I guess she doesn't like change, just like her mom!
I'm 33 weeks and I don't remember a ton of the movement habits of DD, but I'm a bit surprise the LO is still flipping all around in there. He tends to favor being head down, back and butt on my left and feet on top right. But sometimes I can feel feet down and wiggling, and head up under my ribs. I didn't think he'd still be flipping around so much, but I guess I should be worried for a few more weeks. I've heard he could even flip around as late as during labor (don't know if that's true, but I can see how it could be). I am a bit ready for him to get out and stop stretching in there! But I'll gladly wait the 6-7 weeks he has left!
My doctor said its normal not to feel baby moving as often but every 3 hours to check if baby is moving even if it is a small movement it counts. You can also have some orange juice or something cold and lay down your baby should move. I am 34w2d baby moves but its different now not kicks anymore I feel lots of pressure in certain areas like shes pushing with her feet or arms.
Totally normal.... Babies r sleeping most of the times any type of move counts. Drink some orange juice and lay down for a lil bit and you should feel baby moving.
@ivedonethisb4 I don't feel a ton of movement day-to-day either, but I've called my doctor before when I really felt like it was less than usual. They had me come in for a NST and everything was fine, but I felt like it was better being safe than sorry.
Also, sometimes I put a light book on my stomach and that gets him to move. Have you tried that?
I feel like I'm being overly concerned because I never feel a ton of movement but I'm not sure I've felt any today at all...I may have but I may not have...my memory is fuzzy about this morning so I don't remember. I have eaten and had juice and cold water and nothing really. I keep thinking I may feel something super light but it may just be my imagination...but I seriously don't hardly ever feel movement to begin with. I can be on the monitor and baby moving all around and I feel nothing unless it is a good strong kick. No rolls or flips or bumps..
I agree with @djtippietoes. If it's less than usual, better to go get monitored and be safe than sorry... I'd do it just for peace of mind.
@ivedonethisb4 sometimes when I'm sitting up and doing things(even if "things" are watching tv and bumping) I won't feel anything unless it's a good strong kick. Have some icewater, lay down, and see what happens. @djtippietoes says she puts something on her belly to help- I usually put my hands on my belly(I lift up my shirt too, hand right on the belly) and put a little pressure on too. Worth a try?
On Saturday afternoon I felt a really big movement. It was a rolling/twisty/pushing/my skin might explode kind of thing.
Baby has been head down for weeks. I'd feel all big movements up top, and smaller ones down low. I'd also feel more pressure below as baby pushed his/her head down. It felt like feet up high, hands and head down low.
Since the big movement, it all feels different. I feel like something really big and hard is up in my ribs, pushing up. When I press back, there's none of the flexibility or shifting like when I'd press against his/her feet. All big kick type movements are down low, and it feels more like hands higher up and moving around.
I may be reading too much into this, but I can't help but obsess that baby is now breech. Has anyone felt breech movement vs head down?
I know I can't know until my next appointment but it's all I think about.
So I have loved feeling LO wiggle and such in there, but today movement started to get painful! I can feel the baby moving an extremity up and down the wall of my ute and it hurts! It goes away as soon as s/he stops but it makes me stop what I'm doing and BREATH when it happens... anyone else experiencing this??
My movement became much more painful last week. He does exactly how you described, where they are like dragging across while pushing out- if that makes sense? I've actually said "ouch" out loud without being able to help it. I don't know if this goes hand in hand but I have noticed a decrease in movement as well. When I stop to keep track of movement he still gets up to 10 right away- sometimes as soon as 10 minutes but it just isn't how he was moving before and I'm assuming this is due to his growing size/lack of room. The movements just feel a lot different now, I'd say.
Movement is crazy! I can't believe sometimes how strong and active this little guy is. It is painful sometimes especially on my right side!
If you are experiencing a lack of movement drink something cold or sweet, lay on your left side and wait for the kicks. You should feel 10 movements within a 2 hour period.
I've just always heard 10 bumps, rolls, kicks, some type of movement within a two hour period. Anything less than that is reason to be concerned.
I've never been instructed by my doctor to do a kick count (thank God) I've only had one NST in two pregnancies so I could be way off. 10 in 2 is just what I've always heard.

Glad I am not alone on this!
@shreyaR -- did you have any complications that would make your doctor chart the movements? My doctor asks at my appointment "Has the baby been moving?" I say yes, he says "Great!". Also, if I charted my baby's movement I would not be able to do anything else all day... it's interesting how each doctor is so different!
Yes, a couple of weeks ago my baby's movement was extremely down so I was admitted to the hospital to monitor my baby, they even gave me steroid to mature baby's lungs and since then they have asked me to closely monitor baby's movement! They have given me a kick chart, if I get less than 10 kicks in 12 hours I should head to the hospital ASAP! I have been doing it everyday for 26 days now!
I have a potentially really dumb question, but without an US, how do the doctors know where the head / feet are? I'm 34 weeks, so we haven't done that sort of check yet, but I feel all sorts of things in there -- how do "we" know if its a foot, head, elbow, arm, etc?
I'm at about 30+ days away from my LO entering this world - His movements are every few hours now, when it was only during certain parts of the day/night. It's a boy and I can't wait... but anyway, I know I"m going to miss the feeling of the LO wriggling around in there... He has hicups quite a bit and I think it's because he's dropped and is upside down now. My doctor has not told me to monitor his movements - however, I do that just because I'm a new mother and slightly worried. I recently fell down on my right side and will be seeing my doc on tuesday to see if any harm has gotten to the baby. When he's shifting at night, it hurts really bad (I've noticed many of you have that same issue when the baby shifts and pain shoots through ya)... glad I'm not alone in that one. I can't stand for long periods without feeling drained - and if he shifts to much I have to sit back down.
My little wondermuffin is quite the mover... I already know he's gonna be a strong little guy because of how hard he hits me on the inside. He actually makes my LAPTOP bounce and fall off my belly if I rest it on there. My hubby actually wakes up to a swift kick from the little guy when I'm snuggled up to him... it's funny, lol. ... I'm so looking forward to the fun of seeing my little wondermuffin enter the world!

I have no idea how to distinguish between feet or arms, etc but doctors can figure out baby's position by feeling from the outside.
@njb750 - It could just be that baby has moved into more of a head down position, getting ready for go time. They're a little more wedged in that way, and combined with them growing at a faster rate, they don't have a lot of wiggle room. It's fairly standard to feel less kicks and jabs at this point, they tend to change to wiggles and stretches. As long as your kick counts are good, I wouldn't worry too much. Sorry your doc is a douchecanoe.
