I am in Canada and I don't supplement. It is really for the areas further north where they don't get much daylight. You get vitamin d even on cloudy days during daylight hours. I just let LO play near the window as per mw recommendation.
I have been giving dd them since 2 weeks per pediatrician recommendation since we are ebfing.
I would like to switch to a more natural brand, but right now we mix her D with her acid reflux meds and give it to her all at once. It is the only way we can get get to take the acid reflux meds. Anyone know of a more natural version with a higher dosage amount?
FWIW my pediatrician specifically said go get the enfamil drops. Dd likes the taste and I don't think it tastes bad either. I am not completely thrilled about the sugar in them.
I knew, have the Enfilmil but forget nearly every day. The Carlson's might be the way we go... one drop vs a dropper full. And I really like the PP's idea of putting the drop on her nipple. Sounds easy enough.
Does anyone know any reason the Enfilmil can't be put in a bottle with BM? I'm thinking I'm going to be sending it to DC & it can be mixed in her first bottle there...
I asked LO's doctor at his first office visit if there was anything he needed aside from breastmilk (supplements/vitamins). She told me to just continue taking my prenatal vitamins and that would give him everything he would need. Maybe I should ask again.
The boys were on poly-vi-sol per their pedi. They got super constipated so we stopped and switched to d-vi-sol. I mix it with their first bottle of the day. Pedi says it's fine, I feel it's fine. I was horrible about giving it to my older kids when they were babies and they have no ill effects.
Calm down on the little things, you're doing a great job.
