NBR: pets (sad)

We got a sweet little dog named Honey when I was 16. She is now 19 years old and I'm pretty sure we are going to have to put her to sleep today. If you are the praying kind please say a prayer for me...this is going to be really hard! Why do pets have to live such a short life?

    sometimes, the most compassionate thing we can do for our furry companions is help them cross the rainbow. they leave paw prints on our hearts which never fade.

    Me-41, Hubby-40.
    1st BFP-8/17/12!  Missed Miscarriage discovered @ 8 week US.  D&C.
    2nd BFP-2/13/13!  Blighted Ovum discovered @ 8 week US. Natural miscarriage.
    3rd BFP-5/22/13!  By early June, progesterone plummeting.  Another loss.
    August 2013 - started Donor Egg process, but surprise BFP with my own eggs.

    I'm so sorry. Losing a pet is very hard, but you gave her a wonderful, loving, and long life!

    aw i'm so sorry! 19 is a wonderfully long life, but that doesn't make it any easier to say goodbye.

    Huge internet hugs. We had to put our 13-year-old dog down this summer and it was awful. Just remember that you gave her an awesome life and you're doing what's best for her, even though it's hard for you. For her, she's just going to sleep with her people right by her side (I totally just got tears in my eyes writing that).

    oh, I'm so sorry :-( I don't even like to think about that day for my pup. Praying for you guys!


    I like to think dogs are here for a short time to help us humans learn to about love and kindness. They already know how to love unconditionally and be brave and live life in the present, so they just need to be here long enough to help a human learn, too. <3

    Awww. So sorry to hear that. Will keep your dog in my prayers! I remember when my Pom Roxy passed away, I was devastated! I have not gotten another dog since then because of the pain I felt then. Try and think of the happy years she has spent with you all, maybe that will help!

    HUGS!!!!  Our pup is like our baby too, I totally get it! I hope whatever decision you need to make, that your pup is comfortable and you find peace in knowing you ARE doing everything you can to give her the best care. T&P for your sweet Honey!

    Tearing up reading some of these replies. When I was little, I was worried about my dog dying and my mom said, "Well, you'll just have to wait to go to heaven and see if they allow dogs, too." (I can think of a million other things I'd rather have heard...) That night I dreamed that there were dogs all over heaven, and they were happy and playing around together. I'm an adult now and see how our dreams can be prompted by actual words and events, but it still makes me feel better. Just like pp's have said, you must have been an amazing dog mom to her to have had her for 19 years. Sending big hugs and prayers your way.

    Thanks ladies. I feel blessed to have had her for so long. It was a really hard day but I know I did the right thing.

    Nooo… I am so so sorry..  I have had to take that terrible trip to the vet with my dog years ago, and it was a very difficult day.  She is always going to be in your heart.
