  • Hey crafty mamas! I am ready to start making a tiered ruffled crib skirt. What are your favorite places to buy cute, inexpensive fabric? I usually just buy at a local fabric store or Joanne's Fabrics, but I have a feeling I am going to be very picky with this project and need more options! TIA!

Hobby Lobby is my go to for all things... They have sales for days and while I don't usually buy fabric I feel like I have seen a huge selection there!
  • My current situation: I'm making a throw for the new sofa we're getting. It comes home at the end of this month so I'm going with this color scheme.
  • I make fleece animal themed pants for my little boy. He is loving roaring like a tiger. And he love Daniel Tiger's neighborhood.
  • My mom, sister, and I had a scarf making day. We made 11 total. Here are my 4. Now I need to get going on all my baby projects I have planned :)

That looks great! Keep up the good work! I always feel so accomplished because something exists that didn't before my hard work.
Valances are pretty easy. That would be a good project too. I work out the size on paper by drawing a sketch before I start cutting or I forget to add a seam allowance somewhere.
  • I've been crafting up a storm, mostly making bibs (or "scarf" bibs) and pacifier clips to match. These aren't totally done, but this is what I did yesterday.

Thanks for the encouragement! Good tip for the valances. I find I do much better if I have it all planned out ahead of time.
  • Starting a blanket for baby girl... Bonus shot of my fur baby, Zoey. :)
  • Finished these shower invites!

  • Does anyone know how to make soap?  My monthly craft group got canceled, but we were supposed to learn how to make soap.  I was super excited about this, so I offered to make soap stars for the shower.  I still want to do it, but I'm not sure where to start.  Any advice?

The easy way or the hard way? The hard way involves using lye. The easy way is go to the the craft store and buy the 5-10lb tub of glycerin soap. You scope out what you think you need, melt in a measuring cup in the microwave until melted. Then add your scent ( a few drops is all you need) and coloring (also a few drops). Mix and pour into molds. You can add glitter, beads, sponges, luffa, etc. allow to cool and harden over night. Or try making felted soaps!
  • @RedDawnsRevenge - Thanks!  I'm definitely thinking "the easy way". :-)  I also found this site, that's the "Semi-homemade way".  I might try it as well.

I've never done it that way but I have heard of doing it that way. I think I would get tired of grating soap fast.

  • I haven't been able to find a crib blanket that had all the colors.

^^ this is my problem still! :(

Man, I thought I was crafty before looking through this thread! If you or @Alana1977 want to make me a blanket, I'm game! haha

I usually go to hobby lobby for everything since its on my way home from work. However, Michaels is 2 miles away from my house so I go there too for quick trips!

I've been pinning instructions for a ruffled tiered skirt on Pinterest... Have you found instructions you like? I found a no sew skirt video but it isn't tiered!

  • Been working on lots of things, but still havelotsmore to do! Finished blanket, curtains and the felt birds for the baby mobile. To do: refinish dresser, finish mobile, come up with and make some cute wall decor. Still have lots of diapers to make and more burp cloths.
  • Good job olenkapdx!
  • Its not finished since I'm taking my good ol time, but here is the start of my blanket.
