Hey crafty mamas! I am ready to start making a tiered ruffled crib skirt. What are your favorite places to buy cute, inexpensive fabric? I usually just buy at a local fabric store or Joanne's Fabrics, but I have a feeling I am going to be very picky with this project and need more options! TIA!

Hobby Lobby is my go to for all things... They have sales for days and while I don't usually buy fabric I feel like I have seen a huge selection there!
After several failed scarf attempts, I thought I'd try a blanket for LO. Once I got the basic blanket done, I watched 1,000,000 YouTube tutorials and tried my hand at a scallop border.....I'm going to toot my own horn and say I LOVE IT!!
Just got a sewing machine from DH for Christmas and made these two baby blankets! They are far from perfect but I was pretty proud of how they came out considering this was my first attempt
So every year I decide I'm going to get really good at sewing and it always ends the same way... I spend a couple hours at the sewing machine and all I have to show for it at the end of the day are some crooked seams on an unfinished project and back pain.
However, this time I was much more committed. I haven't been able to find a crib blanket that had all the colors I wanted, so I decide I was going to learn how to make a quilt. Much to my surprise, I'm getting there! I just finished sewing most of the front together and am feeling quite accomplished. My hope is to assemble and finish it up tomorrow. I may even make a pillow and valence to match.
I've attached a picture, although the lighting is bad and I'm too exhausted to take another.
@acmarcolini That looks great! Keep up the good work! I always feel so accomplished because something exists that didn't before my hard work. Valances are pretty easy. That would be a good project too. I work out the size on paper by drawing a sketch before I start cutting or I forget to add a seam allowance somewhere.
I've been crafting up a storm, mostly making bibs (or "scarf" bibs) and pacifier clips to match. These aren't totally done, but this is what I did yesterday.

Thanks for the encouragement! Good tip for the valances. I find I do much better if I have it all planned out ahead of time.
I posted the start of the first quilt a while ago. I finally finished it and then made the second quilt for crib. Now I am starting on an outfit for lo.
Does anyone know how to make soap? My monthly craft group got canceled, but we were supposed to learn how to make soap. I was super excited about this, so I offered to make soap stars for the shower. I still want to do it, but I'm not sure where to start. Any advice?

The easy way or the hard way? The hard way involves using lye. The easy way is go to the the craft store and buy the 5-10lb tub of glycerin soap. You scope out what you think you need, melt in a measuring cup in the microwave until melted. Then add your scent ( a few drops is all you need) and coloring (also a few drops). Mix and pour into molds. You can add glitter, beads, sponges, luffa, etc. allow to cool and harden over night. Or try making felted soaps!
I have been knitting a ton of hats to go with my ton of booties. And made some sweaters with one more in the works. You'd think I live some place cold not Cen Cal...

I usually go to hobby lobby for everything since its on my way home from work. However, Michaels is 2 miles away from my house so I go there too for quick trips!
I've been pinning instructions for a ruffled tiered skirt on Pinterest... Have you found instructions you like? I found a no sew skirt video but it isn't tiered!

Been working on lots of things, but still havelotsmore to do! Finished blanket, curtains and the felt birds for the baby mobile. To do: refinish dresser, finish mobile, come up with and make some cute wall decor. Still have lots of diapers to make and more burp cloths.
