I'm seriously starting to hate FB more and more everyday. It's like a happiness competition - my Xmas was better than yours, my NYE was soooo boring but I snuggled with DH all night, my kid says the funniest things (I don't care what your kid calls his penis btw)
I get annoyed when people complain about the cost of formula but buy lattes and go out for nice dinners, etc. I don't care what people spend their money on but this is a small price to pay to feed your child for a year, so I just don't get it. This obviously doesn't include parents who pay for very expensive prescription formulas that aren't covered or aren't fully covered by insurance.

Ugh, I know people that complain like this and they BUY CIGARETTES. Drives me nuts. I dunno what they cost in the U.S. but here they are over $10 and they each smoke a pack a day.

Yeah that is just messed up. Our off brand formula is 100 bucks a month -sometimes less sometimes more depending on how much B drinks. I cant imagine how much people spend for the real formula brands. Its insane
My UO is that I cant stand watching the commercials for helping starving children , mistreated pets, what Cigarettes can do to you, and now they have one for Diabetes -one with children and one without involving amputations. Its not that I dont think these things are important. I feel that they should not be on during the day when children are able to see them. They make me upset-I cant imagine what would happen if a child saw one as they were scrolling during daytime television. And they are all on often. I get that they want to promote awareness but they are scary. If they were only on at night starting at lets say 9 or something I would feel better about it.
I totally agree with you about the tv thing. I avoid channels that always have the sad puppies/sick kids commercials. I'm so sensitive to that. We have always given to charity. We give to ASPCA and the Human Society and I've given to UNICEF and OxFam since I was a UN intern. I feel like I do my part but I still can't watch them. These new St Jude ones are killing me too.
2010Bride2be. I completely agree. I never could handle the abused animal ones but I could stomach through the kid ones before I had DS. Now those kill me and so does St Jude. One St Jude commercial has this little girl, maybe a year old pushing a baby doll in a tiny stroller while someone follows her with an IV ::ugly ugly ugly cry::
I love sending S to school. Her school was closed for the holidays and I was seriously going bonkers at home with her for a week. They're open today and I happily dropped her off and will continue to do so even though I don't start my new job for another week and a half. I love my daughter, but I cannot be a SAHM without going insane. To all you SAHMs, I tip my hat to you...
My UO is that even though the ASPCA commercials make me ugly cry, I don't like when people are all out animal supporters and activists for animal rights but don't do anything to help humans. I have two dogs who I love more than life, but there are so many human issues in the world that need assistance I just can't bring myself to give a lot of money and be so passionate about animal rights.
Not saying it always takes away - I know there are many people who support both and I think that's great. But I know too many people who clog my FB feed every day with pictures of animals in need and are all about animal rights and volunteer in shelters, etc. but don't do anything for humans. It's just odd to me.
I'd like to think that it all balances out. I agree that some people do seem to value animals above humans, and it can be a little weird, but if they don't do it, who will? Let them put their money and time where their mouth is (hide their annoying news feed stories in the meantime), and you put your money and time into what you believe is important, and the world will be a better place for it. There's too little time (and money) to spend it arguing over what causes are more worthy.

bahahah. You can bet Everett was 1st in line at Daycare this morning. I am working from home today but could not wait for him to go back. This momma needs a break! I have already showered, done a load of laundry, cooked a good breakfast and done some work - I wasn't able to do any of that when he was home with me!
Very jealous. B doesnt let me do anything -hes been uber whiny and clingy the last few days -I want to rip my hair out. Dh has been working 6 and a half days a week and when hes home he wants a break too. So I dont have any time to myself -I want to scream. Okay vent over-I feel better now. Thanks for listening.
yeah, the clingy, whiny thing is hard. If I remember correctly though, at least you guys get to get out alone what sounds like relatively often so at least you have that? We've got no family here and nobody to help watch S so if she's not in school, she's with us...24 hours a day, 7 days a week...

Oh man, I have a whole new appreciation for my babysitter who has two babies during the day! DH and I were just talking about how a "day off" isn't really a day off anymore (and I don't think he truly understands how real that statement is). Much respect SAHM!!!
but you can bet I'll be throwing a party 5 months from now when we switch her over to regular milk!
I will be at this party celebrating with you!! I am looking forward to saving money...not having to pre-make bottles every time we leave the house and go to bed...and having to bring like twenty cans of formula every time we travel! I just hope and pray LO can digest milk!!
My UO is that I think New Years resolutions are a good thing even if deep down you know you probably won't stick with them.
I think wanting to improve yourself is a good thing and even if you only eat healthy for two weeks or go to the gym for a month it's still a good thing.
My random UO is that I kind of hate digital photography. I mean, I love that I can snap photos whenever and wherever and that I have a bajillion photos of LO. But I find it overwhelming... and distracting. I hardly ever make prints / photobooks, I'm terrible about getting them uploaded, and I focus too much on taking pictures instead of actually enjoying the moment. I kind of wish it was like the good ol' days, still... when you took your camera to special events, took pictures, had the film developed and put the good ones in albums. The end. (Yes, I realize this makes me sound 90.)
@allisonO78 totally agree! I have about 2000 pics (half of them horrible) but I barely do anything with them. I'm trying to use video camera more because I think we will cherish those more later down the road
I was thinking of making a 2012 photo book on Shutterfly, but just decided to make one of LO's first year instead... so I'm kind of dreading the process (those things take FOREVER) but secretly grateful that I decided to postpone
Take what you spend on diapers and formula each week and then multiply it by 2.
Just because I can afford it and afford lattes doesnt make the cost any less sucky.
My UO is that I love the snow.
Snow?!? I freaking LOVE snow! People who do not like snow are lame.
I thought of you the other day, I saw a picture on the interwebz of twin babies (one boy and one girl) dressed up like Almond Joy and Mounds Chocolate bars, and on the back of the onesies it said "Almond Joys Have Nuts" and "Mounds Don't"
I don' know why it made me think of your babes, but it did and I chuckled!
Ok for those who love snow! Your nuts! May I ask where you live? I live where it's snow for 7-8 months of the year and a good 2/3's the temperature is below -20! I have shovelled that much snow off my deck 3 times already and it was that much!

Probably because that was in the running for our Halloween costumes this year

I live in Massachusetts
I live in Northern Virginia right now, but grew up in Vermont.

I'm jealous, I'm originally from upstate NY and I miss winter (not all of it of course) but we've been living in California, Arizona, Lousiana and now North Carolina for years. I only get to see snow when we go home to visit.
I live in southern Texas and its rare we get snow. I love snow, the weather sucks here.
Anywhere near Houston? That's where I am and I am not a fan of the weather...I want an actual winter dammit!
I'm in the Hill Country. I always think how awesome it would be to have snow, and then we get an "arctic blast" that takes the temps into the 30's and I realize what a wimp I am. I'll take the Texas heat!
All this talk about snow.... I've never seen it snowing. Send some to florida. I have been wearing shorts and short sleeve tshirts for the holidays ( .
I loathe snow, winter, all of it. I'd much prefer the mild grey rainy winters we had in London (similar to Seattle/Vancouver climate) to these Chicago winters we have. Although I do love our hot sunny summers.
I thought the same thing @ohhgurl! My UO is that I agree with @huzzahuzza from the thread yesterday. I also have a hard time reading those types of blog posts. I think that if they cheer people up then they are a wonderful thing! However, they always end up making me feel worse about myself. Like I said, I'm glad they help other woman to accept the changes in their body and help them feel better about themselves though.

Yay snow!! Now why can't it happen when I actually have to go to work?!
Edited for a bump burp.
It's snowing pretty good in Montgomery County too!
