Let's talk diapers.
We are still using gifted diapers so I can't exactly be picky about them but I'm noticing a few things and I'm wondering if you've noticed too ...
I feel like Huggies are smaller? Deft size one Huggies are smaller than pampers size one. I also feel like pampers do a better job over night. We've just opened our first pack of luvs ... seems OK so far - pretty close to pampers in size
We have target brand and sams brand that we haven't tried yet because they are size 2. The only ones we were gifted that I didn't like and would never use again were "Parents Choice" ... leaked everywhere.
Do you have a favorite? Do you only buy one kind?

Re: Huggies vs Pampers vs Luvs vs ... ?
And I hate the net lining in Pampers, sticks to her bum.
I have a package of Up and Up brand to try still and a package of Kirkland (Costco) to try out.
None that we have tried so far have caused any rashes or problems.
We usually get Luvs they work well and are cheaper than pampers. I hate buggies they don't fit LO at all!

I love Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive, because they're softer and (I feel like they) prevent diaper rash. But they're the priciest package on the shelf, so I've been looking into other brands/styles. Speaking of which, Pampers Swaddlers are my favorite, bit like @Jenball717 mentioned, the net lining sticks to bums, which just causes me to have to use more wipes. Pampers Baby Dry are just "meh, IMO, and they don't have a wetness indicator, so they're among the bottom of my list.
Luvs are okay and haven't leaked yet, but like Pampers Baby Dry, they lack a wetness indicator, which irritates me. Seems like easy technology, but you get what you pay for. Bonus is, Luvs diapers are covered in monkeys and cute as hell. (Given Procter & Gamble make Pampers and Luvs, it's probably no surprise that Pampers Baby Dry and Luvs get similar scores from moms. If you look at the inside, they're virtually identically constructed.)
Right now, we're using Target Up & Up and for the price, they're definitely near the top of my list. I feel like they don't block the pee/poop smell as much as Pampers, so we change more diapers, which may negate the savings...who knows, really. They do have a wetness indicator, though, which is nice, but odds are we'd be ready for a change anyway. All in all, not for those who want to drag out a diaper change.
So, I guess my ranking for the six types we've tried so far would go like this:
1) Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive
2) Pampers Swaddlers
3) Up & Up
4) Luvs/Pampers Baby Dry (tie)
5) Huggies
TBH, I'll probably be buying Pampers Swaddlers when we run out next, to see how they work in a Size 2 vs. Newborn.
But after using a gift of Luvs I've switched. I don't notice a smell with them.
Huggies I hate. I feel like as soon as she pees I can smell it.
Pampers I like but they are pretty bulky.

Huggies wipes
I didn't mind luvs. I didn't like the blue dye all over them though.

I think Luvs smell like baby powder so I don't mind the smell.
I tried the Earth's Best ones (they were a gift) and I thought they were rough and felt like I was using padded newspaper. They did work well though.
With DS1 we were gifted some Kirkland/Costco diapers and didn't like them. They just felt real stiff and thick compared to the other brands. I also felt that the little velcro circle was not really strong enough and I always worried about the diaper opening. Never did though.
