Has anyone been thinking about the first birthday party?

I know it's early, but I'm starting to think about what we are going to do for DS's first birthday. I'm not even sure who to invite. I'm thinking we will rent a place near our family since we live an hour's drive away from everyone. I'm also trying to think of theme ideas. Have you thought about what you're going to do yet?

We are doing Madison in ONEderland, her baby shower was Alice in wonderland so I thought it was a cute idea. Haven't decided where, probably at the same place as her baby shower. The date will probably be may 17th. (her birthday is the 19th)

We also have a huge backyard and porch so we will be doing it our house. We are having a "Pink lemonade" themed party. I am super excited!! Pinterest has been my best friend trying to find ideas.

I already have DD's party dress. I have a general theme picked out but I'm not sure who to invite. Immediate family plus great grandparents and maybe a few really close friends. The guest list is already getting long....

We just did family and neighbors for DS1. Both our neighbors had kids within 7 months of our guy so we alwYs got them together. His godfather is DH bestfriend so he was also invited.
I havent thought of a theme yet for this guy but we did a monkey theme that had teal and yellow accents. Theres a site called birthday express that has lots of themes with decorations.

I thought that, but it's derby weekend here. So we're planning a horse/derby themed party. I did a pumpkin patch for DS1, so I like the theme thing. We'll probably do a BBQ too.

We're having it at my sisters house since our apartment isn't really equipped for entertaining more than 5 people at a time.

I was waiting to see if I could plan a theme based on something she "likes", but right now she seems to enjoy when DH has South Park on. No way I'm planning a 1st birthday with that theme! :P

I haven't thought about it to this thread. I don't really have any friends with young kids so we will be winging it a little bit as far as how many, etc. But I am thinking my little Jack will have a Jack Sparrow, Pirates of the Caribbean theme. Kid's love pirates this year.

Or I may steal someone's idea from the thread. Keep 'em coming!

Yeah I hadn't even thought of themes either. R is the 28th so we're doing it Memorial Day weekend so family can be here. We're inviting family, our friends and neighbors with kids, his god parents a few other close friends. In the time I had to read this thread I'm thinking I'm going to do a "Sourhern Gentleman" theme. I really just want an excuse to buy this adorable seersucker suit I saw. Our house has a nice backyard so we'll have it here. My hubby also graduates from college the same day so it's a big day for our family!

Right now we're thinking about Jake and the Neverland Pirates theme. That is one of his favorite shows. We were thinking Mickey but his brother(11mo older) had a Mickey theme and I want them to each have a different first birthday party. We will be having it at FI's parents house right down the road from us. They have plenty of parking for guests and a big house for entertaining.

I've thought about it a bit since my best friend is in the process of planning her LO's 1st party right now. I think I'd like to do a "you are my sunshine" theme with pink and yellow decorations. Nothing too big, at our house, just family and close friends with kids.

My sister had a joint birthday party for her two girls (their birthdays are 5 days apart) with this theme. Same colors too! It was really cute

I haven't thought about it much either. I need to start though since we're planning on doing her first bday party at home in Hawaii...party planning long distance! I was just thinking of having a pot luck at the beach? too ghetto?

Hadn't thought about it. But thinking now maybe a disney theme and tell people to bring their fav disney movie. Kind of a play on the bring a book to a baby shower.

I think we might try to convince the grandparents and 2 aunts/ 2 uncles / 2 cousins to go on vacation somewhere. Our family is spread out all over the place and we don't have many friends with kids. I kind of want to just go somewhere warm and rent a beach house and roll his bday into that

I've been thinking about this a lot... I'm kind of thinking of a cup cake theme. All of our family live far away so I am hoping if I give them a heads up early enough some of them will be able to come.

We are planning to celebrate at home with a bunch of friends. We live overseas so family is far far away and won't make it. But we'll do skype call with all of them. As for the team it's gonna be monkey theme. Maybe not too creative but we have like ton of monkey toys I figured that'd be fun to hang them all around and make small jungle.

We are planning a giraffe theme ("It's a Jungle Out There") for either the park or our backyard. I've been looking up ideas for his cake, outfit, and decor. I'm pretty excited for it.

I have been thinking a lot about his first birthday party. We will invite close family and friends and probably have it at DH's uncle's house.

As for the theme I am clueless. It would be way easier if he "liked" something. If I don't come up with anything in the coming months then I'll probably do a Little Man theme.

Been thinking about it and Pinning for a while now lol. We Latinos tend to go big on the First Bday lol - then again we tend to go big on everything smdh. Anyway, it will lost likely be a backyard bash or we may rent a gazebo at a local park or rent a hall...we'll discuss that all in the next few months.

The only thing I know for sure is that her theme will be May Flower. I'd like to do big colorful flower decorations everywhere...there is some really cute stuff on Pinterest. I figure it will go nicely since her baby shower theme was "A Baby Girl is Blooming". Well she's bloomed :-)

I must be a bad mom because I think first birthday parties are pointless. We'll have my parents and DH's parents in town and we'll have a small cake but that's it.

We'll have an actual party when she's old enough to comprehend having friends over to celebrate.

We will be having 2 parties for DD. One will be a joint party with family for DD and my nephew who are 2 weeks a part and 1 will be for close friends. Family on my side is over 20 people just for my siblings and nieces and nephews. Our house just isn't big enough for everyone at once. I'm not sure what theme my sister and I will do for that and the other one will be a cupcake party. Cupcake is a play off our last name so I love the theme and want to use it before she has an opinion
