Has anyone been thinking about the first birthday party?

We have a baby friend with the same birthday so if we do a joint birthday it will be classic Disney themed (none of this cars bullshit).

If we split the weekend and have a C only party I'm going with either underwater/little mermaid theme or Disney princess.

I'd love to throw him a 1st birthday party but being a military family and 12+ hours from family, we will just do something with the 3 of us. Most of our friends and DH's coworkers don't have young kids so inviting them is out. At times like this, I really miss being near family.

I haven't given it a whole lot of thought yet. I'm thinking of doing a backyard party (though for my other two kids, we rented out a place).  We had a big party for his christening, so we'll make1st b-day a little more low-key.  I thought about doing it at a kiddie party place, but honestly I think those types of venues are meant for older kids. As for theme - maybe carnival? I haven't thought that far yet.

After having nothing to do at work yesterday and browsing Pinterest/interwebz for close to 8 hrs, I finally found a theme. It will be How Time Flies When You're Turning One with an airplane theme.

I have only thought about it long enough for it to give me agita. I'd love for it to be a small and intimate barbecue with grandparents (6), E's aunts and uncles (5), great grandparents (2), and our closest friends who have kids (6)... with us that's already 21 people and I KNOW my aunts and uncle would be offended if they weren't invited which also means inviting their 3 kids....

and now I have agita...

My LO's first birthday is also her golden birthday. She's named after a Disney princess so, as the only gold colored princess, it's going to be Belle themed.
