Just an FYI for anyone who was wondering. Talked to the lab who does the MaterniT21 test. If you have one of the indicators (age, history of a child with a chromosomal disorder, an abnormal ultrasound) the most the test will cost is $200. She said insurance usually covers some or all if it since these findings show medical necessity. After my research, this seems to confirm what I read that the materniT21 test is usually preferred because the cost is minimal compared to other tests out there. I will go for my blood draw in the morning hopefully after I talk to my doctor to get the script. Makes me feel better to know I won't have to dish out a bunch of money. Now I just wait and pray.
