So dh and I left my two week old baby with his mom for no more then an hour we come back to find out she pierced our baby's ears how would you ladies handle this I cried so much I was so pissed she never once asked dh and I if and when we planned to do so

The way I would handle it would end up with me in jail. I cannot even process this. What would make someone think that is ok? I'd take the baby to the pedi to check for infection first of all. Then I would give mil the ass reaming of her lifetime. I would also not let her near my kid unsupervised ever again. And also, I'd maybe call the cops on her. There has to be some sort of law about this.

Seriously. What did your DH say? Please tell me he isn't trying to defend her.

My jaw dropped reading this and my stomach is in knots for you. I can't believe she did that. I would scream, grab my baby and leave, then never speak to her again.

I hope he told her she was wrong in a very serious manner. Is she normally a rational thinking person? I just can't imagine why she would think this is ok. Have you & DH talked about what will happen going forward? Like, he's not just going to pretend like it didn't happen right?

Yeah that's a sign of a serious underlying issue, if you ask me. I mean who can even stomach sticking a needle through a newborns ears? The thought of anything hurting my baby makes me sick and it better be 100% absolutely necessary. The fact that she had it done without consulting you is bad enough, let alone doing it herself!? ::shudder::

Whatever you do or don't say to her, I would not leave your daughter with her unsupervised ever again. Like ever, ever.

100% all of this. I'm West Indian and it's very common in my culture as well, but it's unfathomable to me that your MIL would think it was acceptable to do that without your consent. Mine (mom OR MIL) would be banned from ever being in the same room alone with my LO if she ever pulled a stunt like that.
