Speaking of animal rights, has anyone seen Blackfish yet? I don't think I will ever look at Sea World the same again (even though you all think I don't have a soul by now any ways). But I had no idea how bad it was until I watched that.
I posted this last week, but I'll post it again for levity.
I saw it last weekend and then I took a nap. I dreamed that I was standing helplessly by while Paula Deen got attacked by a vicious orca.
Poor Paula. Yikes.
I couldn't resist. :P
Truthfully though, the captive showcase marine life type stuff has been in a sorry state for years. I'm really surprised they allowed any trainers in the water with Tilikum given his history. People just seem to die around him & he is doing what predators do. That's dumb shit on SW's part.
My confession: I have been terrified of orcas since I was a kid. I go to sea world and all, but I don't like going down to the aquarium thingy where you can get all face-to-face. Giant carnivorous mammal? Yeah no thanks.
What's weird is I swam with dolphins & it was fine. Either way, it's taken a lot of effort to be able to look at pictures, videos or movies with them it in.
I think it comes from that awful horror movie named Orca or something. I saw it up late one night when I was 10 & it scared the piss out of me.
My confession was that I was wondering those things about other posters when really it doesn't matter. It happened, they ate parts off each other (leg, arm, tails), I didn't know it until I went to change their cage, the vet wouldn't see them (exotic breed, considered rodents in most states, etc.), tried putting Neosporin on their wounds, wouldn't heal, so I did what I felt was best. Understandably many of you do not agree, I don't like what I did, I never said it was cute, funny, or not a big deal, but it's done, so I don't understand why you all want to rehash every day what a shitty human being I must be other than it's making you feel better about yourself as a human?
No where in this pile of shit do I see the words, "it was wrong what I did to those hamsters. They deserved proper veterinary attention. I chose to dump them out to meet their end however it happened. That was wrong & I feel awful."
Which other things about what posters?
It keeps getting brought up by you, my dear. No one else brought it up.
You made some half-assed attempt to be philosophical about a shitty decision, then tried to foist blame on others' habits (choosing pest control or eating meat) & then justification. You just keep avoiding taking responsibility for the action. That is frustrating & so you get flamed.
Do you really think dumping wounded, domesticated pets of any sort would ever go without serious flaming? It's one thing to euthanize them if they are so mangled they are beyond help. That is humane. What you did was cruel & fucked up. It's even more fuckery that you make it sound like you are somehow a victim here.
I'm not flaming you to make myself look superior, make myself feel better or any such nonsense. I'm flaming you because what you did is not right.
@somerandomchick : I've forced myself to watch it as an adult & it's so cheesy. Still scared me though & it took effort to sit through.
Another confession: watching National Geographic or other shows where the prey gets eaten is really hard for me. Like, I know that shit happens. Cougars, cheetahs, paranahs & orcas have to eat, but I always switch it really fast if I know some gazelle or something is going to get eaten.
Hunger Games was a tough watch for me too.
Why it's weird: I love "dead body shows" as my mom calls them. Law & Order (all), Dr. G & life in the ER. I even like that show 1000 ways to die. That is graphic but it doesn't bother me.
I just read the cannibal hamster thing... That's fucked up
Do you have some mangled betta fish to release into your local pond, too?
No Bruno Mars the Betta committed suicide approximately four years ago. He rammed himself into the Buddha at the bottom of the bowl and popped an eye out and bled to death.

Woah.
because it didn't fucking snow enough for me to build my own
FFFC: I was really glad that the royal baby was born before Ros (by a day!) because if it was a girl I wanted to make sure Ros DIDNT share a name with her so I wouldn't be asked her whole life if she was named after the princess. Rosalind wasn't a likely choice for the royal baby but one of our other top 3 (Alexandra) was.
I'm also super happy Ros was born on the 23rd, NOT on the same day as the royal baby (22nd). I didn't want even more people asking about it than already did.
Riley was born on the 22nd. That just means two members of royalty were born that day!
I just bought Gerber baby food to start Geoege on this weekend. He likes to eat ice chips with me, and he likes bananas and squash that I've made but it's just easier if it's in the jar ready to go; I'm not proud but I do t want to miss his window of excitement about eating bc I have no time this week or next to add in making natural purées. Gerber, is it the new Pepsi ;;) ?
All my other babies had Gerber so I don't know why I felt like it was fffc worthy but it was like admitting defeat to buy it today.
NOT flammable! I make my own food for the veggies, but for some reason I think the fruits are too big of a PITA and don't make those, so Gerber it is! It's just like the BF v FF debate...are you feeding your kid? Ok, then we are good!

@citrusfamily It may be a UO, but I see nothing wrong with Gerber.
Lol. DD refused Gerber & most bottled purée. I have no idea why. I will give it another shot with DS because making your own is a real PITA.
On TB is flame worthy because many people get their knickers in a twist about preservatives & shit. It's the same thing if you feed your toddler the occasional fruit pouch. I can't even tell you the threads that went on for pages about the blasphemy that fruit/veg pouches are on the SAHM board.
I say the kid is fed & happy. Unless you (collective judgey sanctimommy you that is judging jarred food or pouches--not personal you) want to come over to my house & Julia Child's or Martha Stewart some damn veggies then STFU. Lol
I've had fish die too. The difference between my fish dying and your fish dying is the fucked up way you talk about it. Like no respect for the loss of life. As if you would say "so my grandma went bat shit crazy and croaked on the floor of her nursing home after ramming her dome into a countertop". People with reverence for life (meat eaters or not) just don't talk like that.
ETA To the people who have had to jump thru hoops to get a shelter pet: this is why. We don't know you from Adam and it's important that our animals go to the right homes for them.
I love you so fucking hard @kittend . So fucking hard! :x

I just didn't want everyone assuming it must of been due to my negligence or reverence for life, I didn't want to be blamed for it's death as well when it was not my fault.
I want to know why all "meats" made by Gerber are still in glass jars, but the the veggies/fruits are in the plastic tub things? I don't know why but I have this fear of there being pieces of glass inside the meats. Thanks a lot WTETFY...
I think it has to do with freshness? I am not really sure?
I wanted the royal baby to be named James. I thought it would be cool if they shared a name. Everyone was saying afterwards, "oh, good thing they didn't named him James" (allegedly it was one of the top choices) but I was a little disappointed. George is an adorable name as well!
I totally have a Similac and Gerber baby here. I freely came to the decision - I am not that mom. I wish I could be, but I am ok that I am not. I am lucky I cook for me and the DH. No way can I be making puree's. Besides, if she is anything like my side of the family, she would probably hate homemade. My family - it is Stove Top or the highway man. And it isn't Christmas if there is no Rice A Roni.
@liz4444... The other day there was this super judgy mom at mommy & me. We all go out to lunch together afterwards and she was going on and on about how she spends hours making her baby's food. Then she said that she didn't want her lo to get the flu shot & if she got it, "I guess we will deal with it." Wtf, priorities...?
And ftr, my kid hated the fresh bananas I gave him and loved the jarred ones. I'm sure I'll try again, but plum organics are pretty awesome
If DS takes jarred food I will be praising many deities. Really, feed your kid. I hate it that parenting has become such a mine field. Fucking first world problems to the extreme.
I have been eating whatever I want lately. I keep joking to my husband that I've got to take advantage of this overactive thyroid issue while there's still time. I'd rather be laughing than crying, eh?
@Meimsx Of course she will love you! What are you guys planning on doing?
Just breakfast. I really am excited. Both of our DH's will be there with all the kids and it should be fun. As long as we don't talk politics. Lol. Video games FTW!
@njaeding, excellent! I know food is for fun right now, I was just amazed she was doing meat. Like amazed in a "she's so advanced" way, not a judgey way. Riley liked smashing her avocado and she liked licking it off her fingers. Food has been fun so far for me too!
My BLW son ate meat easily without teeth. You will not believe what they can accomplish with their gums! Besides, it's the molars that really do the heavy chewing and those don't typically start coming in till after a year. If I think about how I use my mouth to eat meat, I hardly use my front teeth at all. We just made sure it was soft enough, so pulled pork, ground beef etc vs a well done steak or something.
We are doing a mix of homemade and jarred. If I have stuff in the fridge to use, I make it, otherwise it's jarred. And she sure as hell doesn't care, as long as it's being shovelled in she's happy!!!!
And I really hope in real life that someone reports the animal cruelty/abuse/neglect.....there are no excuses......
