I know. I just try not to think about something like this happening. I obviously wouldn't want him to live the rest of his life sad and miserable. I guess I just wouldn't want him to forget me and hope that no other women would come close to me in his book.

Dd2 has developed a red dye allergy. While it is HORRIBLE and I hate to see the reaction, it is nice that people have to ask me before giving her and dd1 food. We are really careful with what our kids eat and people are constantly making fun of me for it. I'm ok with this allergy forcing people to respect our wishes. I also hope that this will encourage our church to not give our kids candy at ten in the morning...I'm also glad that mil saw her reaction first hand when she vomited all over her. That's what she gets for not listening to me.

FFFC: I'm a little upset that my "MIL" (not married, but whatever) got us a gift for Xmas. This isn't coming from an ungrateful place. Her H has just beat cancer and they have a lot of medical bills. We gave them money and bought Thanksgiving (so to speak) so they could focus their financials on paying their bills (not just medical). His mom was crying to us that she can't even afford rent. I just think that I expected (shame on me) nothing from her and I would have understood that better because of how she expressed her struggles.

maybe she wanted to get you something to thank you for helping them. It's still a nice gesture that she took the time and thought when she has bigger things going on.

I am inordinately sad about Paul Walkers death. I am a total weirdo and he has always been my celebrity crush. I spent the morning googling him and got depressed. Reminding myself to look at LO now to cheer up and remember that I didn't actually know this guy. Pathetic.

We went away for the weekend Dec 6-8. My suitcase is still sitting in the middle if the bedroom. I just keep pulling what's left of the clean clothes out to wear. I figure I'll be unpacked this way in another few days.

I have another one...It is very hard to ruffle my feathers over the big issues and I love talking politics, religion, and money with people who can have an intelligent discussion about those topics without getting overly emotional.

Atheist, Christian, gay, straight, republican, democrat, I really don't care. My bottom line is respect one another and if doesn't effect you why do you care so much? Think you are going to "save" someone? You aren't.

I also think the duck guy was baited but it is his fault for falling for it. GQ knew exactly what they were doing.

I've been taking naps with the baby for the past few days. I never wanted to bed share, but we both fell asleep while nursing side-lying Sunday morning. Now, I just want to snuggle all the time. It makes me feel terribly irresponsible and selfish (SIDS risk, et cetera), but it's helping my PPD, which makes me a much happier mommy, and thus I have no idea what to do. He sleeps in his bassinet the majority of the time, but I still feel guilty for our one daily nap together.

This parenting shit is hard, yo.

I let DD1 stay home from school today because I didn't want to drive on the icy roads or get DD2 all bundled and on her carseat.
Today is only a half day and it is the last day of school until 2014. So, pjs and movies and cuddling is our plan for the day.

Nothing changes some people's minds on bedsharing, and that's OK, but if it's making you feel better there are some safe ways to do it. I'd look them up and enjoy the snuggles. I bedshared from the beginning knowing that it was better for breastfeeding, PPD, baby and would be easier when I got nighttime snuggles after going back to work.

Just make sure you're doing it correctly and you'll be fine! (Ie. No pillows around little one etc)
We sleep like that during the day AND night and it's the best thing ever!
I got 4 straight hours last night because of it. He woke up once to nurse...stick boob in mouth...back to sleep. AMAZE.
I'm glad it helps with your ppd! Snuggle that baby!

I am a mess today! LO had a super huge poop and peed right on me during the diaper change. Then, after I got him dry and settled, I go into the bathroom to spray the CD. I forgot a friend was coming by to borrow some tools so when I heard the doorbell, I dropped the CD in the toilet and let her in. Then LO started fussing so I picked him up and chatted with my friend before assembling the tools.

My friend asked if she could use the bathroom before leaving since she needs to shut off the water at her place. So she goes in and I hear "Ummm...there's some sort of poop rag in the toilet..." I said "Oh, that's mine" and reached right in to grab it. The look on her face was awesome!

My FFFC: I could care less if I have a pee spot on my shirt and am holding a sopping poo dipe. I wouldn't change places with my childless friend for anything!

I did look up the safe bed sharing tips, and I definitely use them during nap time. If I wasn't such a worrywart, I might let myself bed share more often. (Breastfeeding has improved 100% for us since we started napping, too, which makes not bed sharing even harder!) For now, I'm just enjoying the cuddles and trying not to dwell on the negatives and what-ifs.

It took us both a LOT of practice and trial-and-error, but it was definitely worth the trouble. I do have to hold my boob at an odd angle so it doesn't cover his nose, which made achieving a good latch hard at first. We eventually figured it out together. Regarding burping lying down, I just rub circles on his lower back when he unlatches. Seems to work fairly well.

I'm jealous of people who can nurse side-lying! I haven't figured it out. The few times I have tried, I ended up covered in spit up because LO needs to be burped a lot and I can't figure out how to burp him laying down.

Try more frequently and just pick him up and burp him while sitting up in bed! That's what I do. I can usually tell when he has a bubble...he keeps pulling off the nipple and then goes back for more. Burp. Relatch.
For me it was all about the angle in the beginning. I had to get him angled perfectly to make sure his nose was clear and he could latch on correctly. Now it's nbd and if I fall asleep with my boob out I sometimes wake to him re latching himself when he wakes. Keep trying and I hope you get the hang of it. It totally changed my sleep life!

@brit1983 also make sure to bring his whole body super close to you and have him completely on his side...hips and all. It will help the latching.
I kind of curl my body around his. And my arm isn't under his head..I stretch it up and away from us.

-------- Agree! If I am dead I want him to be happy! I want him to find a great woman who will love my kids. I don't want him to be a single dad who doesn't have his own life.

DH's dad died 12 years ago when he was 18 (he's the youngest of three) and my MIL has never moved on. She's had coffee with one gentleman, once, but never did it again. DH's older sisters celebrate their parents' anniversary every year, his birthday, etc. Granted, he died in a tragic car accident, so a what-would-you-do-if conversation is not something that the family would have likely ever had prior to such a tragedy, but still. I feel terrible that she hasn't had the opportunity to love again, because it's such a wonderful experience.

OTOH, my mom died when I was 18 (my sister was 15) and my dad remarried about 5 years later after finding a new love who coaxed him out of alcoholism and brought two stepchildren (my stepsiblings) into the family. We absolutely still cherish my mom and her memory, but life goes on and we have to go along with it.

In the interest of full disclosure, I put his changing pad in the crib because he loves it so much and he actually put himself to sleep. Maybe @Married2PreMed can learn something here...

This is a great idea! DD loves her changing pad as well. If I have trouble transitioning her to the crib, I will have to try this.
