  • I was reminded recently of the original "drama" we had in the early days of our June board, when a group of TB regulars wanted to try to bring some order to the posts so that we didn't have 10 DIFFERENT threads on the same exact topic.  There was a decent uproar over it, feeling that the regs were trying to be controlling or whatever, and so aside from a few attempted regular threads (daily appointment threads, ticker change threads, PGAL threads), it's been mostly free form.

And it's driving me crazy.  How many DIFFERENT baby name, vent, I'm X weeks today!, whatever threads do we need?  The sifting I do is just frustrating some days - there are so many ladies here that any particular thread falls quickly off the page.
Aw man, I'm exactly the opposite!  When they are all in one thread I get incredibly bored reading it and can't make it through them all.  When they are one person's story at a time  enjoy reading them, or I skip and go back to them if I am not in the mood.  I hope it doesn't change :-)

My UO is if your not a regular poster on here or it's not a normal weekly thread I won't bother to contribute. I only have a little bit of time to be on here during the week and I don't want to spend it coddling the people who come on here once to tell us about their bad day or whatever. I want to spend it checking on the ladies I have been talking with for months and seeing how they are doing.

I 10000% agree with this. If I don't recognize your name or profile pic (I'm almost always mobile so tickers don't make a difference to me) I just don't give a shit.
  • I get grossed out when people post pictures of their kids with food all over their faces. I get that *you* think your kid looks cute covered in chocolate/yogurt/baby food/etc but I just don't want to see it.
I am with you on this.  I recently vowed to not even take these pics except for the first birthday and things like that.

  • I hope this isn't actually a UO, but it's something that's been bothering me lately, so I'll share.  I cannot stand when people post naked pics of their kids on social media.  Even ones that are half naked (past a certain age) are not okay.

I agree and get equally bothered when I see families running errands after their kids' apparently had  gymnastics or dance classes.  Children should not be in stores in their leotards.  There are perverts everywhere.

I agree. It's not that hard to throw a shirt and shorts over your leotard. I felt weird even as a high school student going out in public without SOMETHING over my dance gear.

Circus peanuts are cruel and unusual punishment. They are beyond nasty.

I love wearing socks. I kind of hate summertime because I don't get to wear socks as much.

  • There are so many of these that I agree with!!

Another one from me: if you text someone about wanting to stop by and they tell you they are very sick and have been for several days - you should maybe take the hint and NOT stop by.
My brother just did this - he wanted to drop off DS's Christmas gifts. Which is really sweet and everything- but talking and moving make me cough until I either can't breathe or puke so I was miserable the whole time and just wanted him out of my house (that we haven't cleaned because either hubby or myself has been super sick all week).
  • I really like the idea of having more check-ins for all the special snowflakes. I can only mobile bump during the day and can't see who is posting what until I open the thread. So, so, many threads.

My UO: I don't think a person should have to decide for sure if they plan to stay home or go back to work before the baby is born. You may feel like you want to be a SAHM after birth, but what happens after 3 months if you decide you miss work? Or if you're planning on coming back to work but then once you get home you change your mind? I don't think you really know for sure how you're going to feel until after babies are born. This is, of course, not taking into account the people who HAVE to go back to work.

We tried. The check-ins and specific threads only work if people actually post in them and not AW themselves.

Going off of this: I despise when people ask "Am I the only one (for whatever)?" Why yes cupcake, in the entire history of the world you are the only person to EVER experience that.

Agreed! I also hate the posts of "omg guyz, me, me, me.... has anyone else dealt with this tooooo?!". Really they just want to talk about whatever special snow flake thing they want, but finish it off by pretending to care what other people say too. Drives. Me. Nuts. Just blog people!

  • It's such a bummer to get all pumped about two candies coming together- starburst and candy corn- only to have ur dreams trashed once it hits ur taste buds...starburst candy corn suck, and I'm sad now lol

I totally think that's where they got the name "now or laters" from. No matter what the official story is!

  • @eltrain5, I am loling at the trans-Siberian orchestra playing during my baby's birth. They would have to be all masked up...and wear gloves...I am dying.

I'm not new. I just hate The Bump.

I think it's stupid when people post pictures of 12 week ultrasounds and want guesses "just for fun" about what baby's sex will be.  In reality, it's no different than posting a dating ultrasound where baby looks like a blob and you want to guess.  There's a 50/50 chance of being right.  And no matter HOW many times people point out you cannot accurately take a guess this early in the game, people keep posting it.  Ladies, relax!  You will find out eventually!  If you want to know sooner than later, have a blood test done!

Not everyone has the resources for a blood test - plus some people like to guess- it's a game! It's for fun! Geesh.

I disagree.  It's not fun when there are several posts about the same thing and they clog the board.  Goes back to what Chickpea is saying...for those who want to do it, put it all in one post.  The REALITY is that you really can't tell that early.  How would it be any different to just ask am I having a boy or a girl?  Which still is just a guess with a 50/50 chance of being right.

This one is pretty weird.....when I eat things, I like to have balanced and symmetrical bites. For example: I'm eating an asiago cheese bagel right now. The cream cheese on each half of the bagel has to be equal. Also, the bottom half has a big blob of asiago cheese in the middle. I always take off the blob, rip it in half, put put tiny pieces of each half on each half of the bagel.

    I JUST LOVE EATING OKAY??

Edit: I guess this should be FFFC but I for some reason I felt it belonged.

I can't stand when people use "lil" instead of little. Posts that say something like, "we are having a lil girl" make me assume you are giving birth to a rapper, and make me want to jump out of my 19th floor window.

    Uh-oh! ::hanging head in shame::

Haha! That is hilarious, I have honestly never even given it a second thought when reading your screen name! This really stemmed from looking at nursery ideas and someone had "lil girl" spelled out in block letters on the side of the crib. But, I'm pretty sure putting "little girl" wouldn't be much better!

    Oh, and GO BLUE!

I figured. And I agree with you...on one point.

  • I think A&E's decision to "fire" Phil Robertson was stupid. GQ asked a Southern Christian man what he thought of homosexuality. I'm surprised that anyone was surprised by what he said, and think many people are acting less Christian than him about the whole thing. I think he has the perfect mindset of a true Christian - he believes it is a sin, but still loves everyone the same regardless because it's not his place to judge.

I completely agree with all of this.

My UO: I can't stand it when a patient gets upset when they don't get an ultrasound at their initial OB visit. It's not standard of care unless there is reason for concern, so don't act like we are evil because you don't need one.

This is a group of people with weird eating habits. I do best with plates that have different compartments for their food so my food won't touch. My bf is forever mixing my foods just to mess with me.
I am the same way unless I mix the two together then it is fine.  Also all sauce must be on the side so I can control my food from getting soggy.  Drives my DH nuts but he has adjusted well to my quirkiness over the years.

  • I do not like the boxer shorts K Mart commercial. I just don't want to see those men shaking their balls. Even though you can't see 'em, you know they're under those shorts just shaking about! I'm sure it's unpopular, but I just can't.
