So, my sister is not planning on having another baby for at least two more years, but has already called dibs on the name Charlotte (nickname: Charlie). My husband and I are expecting a little girl and we've actually fallen in love with the name Lottie (full name: Charlotte). There are three other names in the running right now, but my DH keeps coming back to Lottie. We have been keeping our baby name list a secret from family after my grandmother told me how much she hated the name Fiona (I love it!).
Anyway. What do you guys think? Would naming our baby Lottie make me a name stealer, even though my sister won't even try for another one for two more years? Would it be terrible if we didn't announce her name until the little one was here? Eep!
Re: Am I a name stealer?
Then I peed on a stick...
Do what you want, I say.
My SiL called dibs on "Joey" for a girl practically the day I met her. I was 19 and didn't give a crap so I just said it was pretty. Now that I'm pregnant and team green im annoyed. i have an aging grandmother named Josephine who i am close to and we really like using family names. Plus Litttle Women is awesome and I love the idea of having a little Jo running around the house.
But as I'm sure can be inferred through her announcing her baby names before she is even dating anyone- SiL is super immature and it just isn't worth the crying fits.
That's why I never talk about names. I run the risk of someone close to me getting it first but I never want to be THAT girl either.
